Got reminded of this while reading about ProtonMail. The reason I haven't gotten into proper #piracy is that I don't have a VPN for torrenting, and the reason I don't have a VPN is that I don't #torrent. So it would be nice if I got a good VPN while #degoogling myself.
Will ProtonVPN rat me out to Comcast? I know some VPNs don't hide what you're downloading from your ISP, for reasons I don't fully understand.
Just make sure to either set the Wireguard profile’s IPv6 to Link-Local or disable IPv6 on your network connection, otherwise you’ll leak data and DNS entries over it. The reason is because Proton’s wireguard implementation does not support ipv6 yet.
I agree, for most cases just mount it via your File Manager of choice. If you’re using it as a backing storage for another server, then that’s a use case where fstab is fine.
In Nautilus, you can right click anywhere and click Open in Console, at which point it will open up a terminal leading to a gvfs mount directory.
In KDE, it is slightly more annoying because there’s no right click option to quickly open it in terminal, but like gvfs, there’s a mount directory that you can access at /run/user//kio-fuse-/smb/.
I am using ProtonVPN, and have (or so I thought) set up qBittorrent to bind to the network interface that ProtonVPN is using (tun0). The connection symbol turns red if I turn off the VPN, and downloads will stop. However, when checking the torrent address on ipleak.net, it seems that this bind is not working properly - my real...
Ah then that’s not the issue then. Weird that the qbittorrent interface bind isn’t working for you. Maybe try Wireguard instead? Def set IPv6 to link local and add ::/0 to allowed IPs on the Wireguard profile.
I hate how he cuts the video whenever an app is loading. I want to get a feel for how fast apps are launching. The fact that he’s cutting makes me think it must take forever for apps to launch.

The problem with ROCm is that its very unstable and a ton of applications break on it. Darktable only renders half an image on my Radeon 680M laptop. HIP in Blender is also much slower than Optix. We’re still waiting on HIP-RT.
No shame, job market for tech is fucking tough right now, but it will improve. In the meantime, keep your skills fresh. Start some projects of your own that will help you pick up the necessary skills and stay relevant and do freelance jobs on Upwork and similar services.
I was in a very similar situation as you just a few months ago. Worked with several freelance clients and one of them hired me on full time. Pays well and full remote, and luckily in an area that’s isolated from all the craziness happening right now.
You got this! A CSE bachelor’s is way too valuable to stay a bum for long.
