MossyFeathers, to risa in When is season 4 anyway?

I kinda disagree with this because at the end of the day the federation kinda did end up forcing their will on the Moclans. However, the federation tried as hard as they could to find solutions and compromises that would have allowed them to maintain their culture while also allowing people who didn’t want to be a part of it, primarily female Moclans, to have their own space where they could live the way they wanted to.

The reason why the federation eventually ended up forcing their will on the Moclans was for the same reason that modern society tends to eventually tell bigots to fuck off; the bigots weren’t content with bigoting off in their own little corner but instead felt offended by the fact they weren’t allowed to bigot everywhere else and threw a hissy-fit about it. Then people got tired of the bigots throwing whiney tantrums about not being allowed to bigot outside of their designated bigot-spaces and said, “fuck you, eat shit.”

No, I mean, I remember there being a further expanded version that adds more steps between social sciences and philosophy. I haven’t been able to find it though.

MossyFeathers, (edited ) to memes in Which pill do you choose?

Red pill if it means I go back in time to when I was 6yrs old. Blue pill if not.

Edit: having to live through puberty again would be painful, but there’s a fair amount of stuff I could, and likely would, do a lot differently.

MossyFeathers, to asklemmy in Why aren't modern 3D platformers as good as the PS2 era of 3D platformers?

Would you consider Jet Set Radio a platformer? If so then Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is really, really good (and it has a kickass soundtrack like the JSR series did). Other than that, I haven’t really spent a lot of time playing platformers. At the very least there have been some good remasters like the Spyro Reignited trilogy and Crash Bandicoot remaster.

I think I’ve heard some of the recent Sonic games have been good, though I don’t really play Sonic stuff so I can’t verify that myself.

I’ve heard Super Mario Wonder is really good, but that’s not really 3d (though iirc there are some 3d wonder flower sections).

Warframe might help scratch the 3d platformer itch, it’s got a decent amount of platforming tiles, especially on Jupiter (the maps are proceedurally generated from a tile set, the Jupiter tiles have a lot of verticality); though platforming isn’t by any means a focus.

If you’re okay with foregoing 3rd person view, you might give Mirror’s Edge a try. It’s a 1st-person parkour/freerunning game.

If you like the collect-a-thon aspect, check out the Lego games, especially stuff like Lego Star Wars, Lego Indiana Jones, etc. those are very much collect-a-thons and tend to have platforming elements to them. They’re a lot of fun.

Otherwise… Maybe platformers just need a revival like the boomer-shooters got. From what I’ve heard, Yooka-Laylee kinda tried, but it ended up being nostalgia-bait and not too great standing by itself.

MossyFeathers, to memes in just wait, it could get worse....

Remember when Y2K was going to potentially end the world, but it didn’t thanks to experts working 'round the clock?

Remember when corporations turned around and got pissy because Y2K was successfully avoided, claiming that it was all a big hoax?

Remember how it’s now taught in some places that Y2K was a hoax and you can’t trust experts?

No wonder the world struggled with COVID.

MossyFeathers, to lemmyshitpost in Or am *I* the nonsense?

That reminds me that I have several furbys I need to get working again

MossyFeathers, to pokemon in Today I made stickers for the Christmas present for my niece

Maybe the price has gone down in the US, but unfortunately the last I checked they were a bit more expensive in the US if you wanted one in decent condition.

MossyFeathers, to risa in If you can find them....

He got too into character :c

MossyFeathers, to memes in My parents were watching the History Channel and needed to inform me of this amazing theory

Listen, I love ancient aliens stuff; it’s fun to speculate about. It sucks that people get fixated on the pyramids or Nazca lines though. There are other mysterious things that aren’t as easily explained by, “they used a bunch of slaves and some logs to stack stones”, why do people get so hung up on the pyramids?

MossyFeathers, to asklemmy in Which things have you avoided or embraced on the name alone?

It wasn’t the name alone that did it, but I got the Newbury Comics pressings of Phanerozoic I and Phanerozoic II (by The Ocean) on vinyl because A) the name is cool, and B) the pressings looked cool. Turns out the albums sound cool too.

I gave The Crazy World of Arthur Brown a try because of the album artwork. Turns out it’s now one of my favorite albums.

I’d heard Ziltoid the Omniscient was good, but what really won me over was the album artwork. Between the cheesy name and cheesy artwork, I had to give it a listen. It’s easily one of the greatest albums of all time.

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.

I’ve been considering getting one of Intel’s Raptor Lake cpus.

Uh, I’m trying to think if there’s anything else. There have been games that have caught my eye purely because of the name, but none of them were that great iirc. I think Risk of Rain mighta been one of them, and that one was pretty good; but most of the games I’ve tried based on name alone were pretty meh from what I remember.

MossyFeathers, to science_memes in i'd watch this anime

New companion for Doom Eternal 2? Spiderdaisy.

Damn, I’m almost certain I’ve had a dream about a place like that. Looks too weird to be real.

MossyFeathers, to memes in History

When it comes to extant tribes, many of them have web pages with info about them. The depth of information varies from tribe to tribe, I think typically encapsulating whatever the tribe feels comfortable sharing publicly. However when it comes to extinct tribes, much of what you’ll find will probably be spotty and questionable, as what is known is likely the result of archeology and accounts from nearby tribes.

It’s really frustrating how difficult it is to learn about the native cultures as someone on the outside. It gets glossed over in school and what you hear in pop culture is often heavily skewed or butchered to put on a good show for the audience. Then, because of how much of it gets butchered, chopped and screwed, the people who actually know the real stories become understandably protective and reluctant to share them. It’d be nice if there was a central, wikipedia-like site run by the tribes where you could learn about their stories and traditions.

MossyFeathers, to memes in Both beliefs are fine, but please realize the hypocrisy

Personally I sometimes wonder if the truth is hybrid. We’re a simulation and “god” is someone on the outside interacting with our simulation. Might also explain why god seems to be missing nowadays. Maybe he grew up, maybe he got bored, maybe he’s doing exams, maybe our simulation is owned by a company that went out of business and is only running because the electricity is still on and the backup generators still have fuel. Maybe we live in a forgotten universe.

I also sometimes wonder if we live in an educational simulation. Maybe we’re college students learning about the horrors of the 21st century in a fully immersive VR program.

Wait 'till you hear about when a streaming service has season 1 and 2 in the original language, but only season 1 in English, plus season 1 and 2 (dubs and subs) are merged into a single season. This is space dandy on Hulu (I think it’s Hulu, mighta been Netflix).
