OceanSoap,

In Phoenix, can confirm, 100°F dry heat is pretty awesome

OceanSoap, (edited )

My guess is it’s because potential matches ask.

As a woman, I don’t find it weird, but I do find it unfortunate. It’s an easy, quick way to get a better understanding on if you’re who you say you are. Sure, it can be faked, but… that’s more rare, and mostly easily sussed out.

I like seeing Instagram personally. Not to follow, just as a good check. But if you don’t want insta, I’d suggest pixelfed. It’s not a part of meta and it functions as an instagram.

OceanSoap,

My coworker just gave me this rant the other day about AI.

To be fair, our heat goes to conserve our inner organs. We may lose our hands first if we’re stranded in a blizzard, but we’ll survive the men, and hands are replaceable.

OceanSoap,

Literally my life as a child. my grandma was a hardcore Democrat and my father a Republican. Every year, every holiday, they would get into it until my grandma would start screaming at him.

OceanSoap, (edited )

Well, I flew back from the holiday break at my mom’s house. It was stressful and not relaxing because she’s getting up there in age and there was a lot of stuff I needed to do with her.

Anyway, a few things happened with getting home that made the trip longer. Had to check in my carry-on at the gate because no room, so I had to wait for my bag to come through on carousel. Then, I had to walk 20 minutes to where my car was parked, because I took the cheap park-and-walk option like a chump. Finally got to my car, but by the time it was evening traffic, so it took me 45 minutes to get home.

I pull into the garage and am getting my bags out of the trunk, when my neighbor comes up with a cheery “hi!”. Then she rails into me about how much she hates my dog barking, and that it’s been 2 years of my dog barking, and I’m super inconsiderate because I don’t bring him in after he barks twice, like she does with hers, and all the neighbors think the same. Also, she rents another house close by with tenants who work night shift and go to sleep at 2am, so my dog barking at 9am is also inconsiderate.

I was so fucking tired. This dumbass lady… I hadn’t even been living here for two years. Her dog barks a ton, my dog sometimes replies to her dog barking. My dog barks but not for hours on end, just a normal amout before I get him in, which is a fucking miracle in itself because he’s a great pyrenees. I’ve spoken to the neighbors, none of them think my dog barks too much, and how tf am I supposed to know you rent to night dwellers?? Tell them to get a fucking noise machine and put it on blast while they sleep, it’s fucking 9am, there’s a shit ton of noise everywhere. They’re replacing the roof two houses down and start at 6, the day time is fucking loud. Also, lady, I haven’t been home for a week. DO YOU SEE THE SUITCASE IVE PULLED OUT OF THE CAR??

What I said though is “thanks for letting me know, have a good day.”

OceanSoap,

I would have refused to participate in that Foosball tournament that a coworker begged me to be in because he needed an even number for teams.

A disaster, seriously.

OceanSoap,

I wouldn’t have caved and joined that Foosball tournament.

OceanSoap,

I love sync. I still visit reddit for a few communities, but only on my laptop, never my phone.

OceanSoap,

Yeah, people confuse “product lifetime” with “my human lifetime” a lot.

OceanSoap,

Yeah, this meme is fine, but it also goes the other way. Media runs off negative news and fear, and what the rest of the world is seeing is our media.

OceanSoap,

I’d probably be dead from infection, and at the very least horribly disfigured. Was in a boating accident when I was 6 and had 3rd degree burns across my entire body.

OceanSoap,

Went back to school in my mid-30s, just for my AA. But it got my foot in the door to a great field and now the upwards momentum is almost limitless.

I’m not really looking to be some big shot, as I prefer work balanced, but I love that I’m not stuck where I was before.

OceanSoap,

I’m a designer that works with a bunch of engineers and yeah. I’ve got two projects that we had to rush in a two week deadline. Now we’ve been waiting for months on a reply about something. Just waiting.

OceanSoap, (edited )

Mom, don’t sacrifice your retirement savings to keep our lifestyle the same. It’s not more important than struggling so hard in your retirement years. Your kids will get used to living with less, we’ll get over any sadness we feel over it, as long as we’re together.

Also, you have a bad case of sunk cost fallacy. You’re going to lose the house over it.

Dad, if you run away from your kids when it gets tough, they are going to be traumatized, and it will come back to bite you when you’re older. Your son especially will want nothing to do with you. Your last years will be lonely enough, don’t abandon the only people who will be there for you.

OceanSoap,

Moving the shoulders down is always a great reminder for me.

Sorry, I’m super tech/software illiterate, can someone explain how to transfer what I had on tachiyomi over tonthis new app?

OceanSoap,

Water. Also, sparlking flavored water. Wish I was drinking soda.

OceanSoap,

I think social media should be 18+ only. In fact, I don’t think anyone under 18 should have phones that connect to the internet at large, only things like maps or whatnot to get around. I think this would solve a lot of fundamental phone addiction problems we’re seeing from our youth.

I also think filters of any kind should be banned on social media. They’re fun, but not worth the damage they cause.

What are some works/resources that helped make something difficult/unclear finally click for you?

I’m always on the lookout for materials that help me understand different things that up to now I’ve been otherwise stumped by or had trouble wrapping my mind around. Any subject/topic that’s interested you that whatever you’ve found has helped you gain a greater understanding and appreciation of are welcome!

OceanSoap,

Khan academy for math, absolutely. Never would have gotten my AA without it.
