That's just, like, your opinion, man

MacOS gets much more fluid to use when you memorize the keyboard commands. Command+Shift+G in the Finder brings up a menu where you can type any path you want, including ~

Also, the last thing I want is another screen popping up notifications at me.

I never really liked watches to begin with. I sweat a lot and it would always smell funky under my band. The last watch I had I got a machine washable nylon band to prevent this and had to wash it every other day.

If I do that, what’s the point of the smart watch?

I'm currently downloading a show that is on a service to which I subscribe

I have a Galaxy Tab S7 and for a trip to Spain I downloaded some stuff to watch on the flight. When I got on the plane none of the stuff downloaded on Disney+ would play. Maybe an issue with downloading to the SD card? I don’t know, but regardless Disney offers SD card as a download destination so they should make sure it is...

My kid likes to watch movies with their friends, and with streaming services this means they all need to have an account and start at the same time.

With Plex my kid can just share their screen and the video shows up fine.

Semi-Hemi-Demigod,
@Semi-Hemi-Demigod@kbin.social avatar

Do they need Plex accounts for that?

I'm subscribed to a bunch of services through bundle packages with my phone and Internet and still pirate the shows I want because it's nice to have them all in one place and to know they won't be unavailable in the future.

It’s less about the land claims than it is about the CCP’s laughable rejection of reality

You sound like you love bugs, bug-lover

Mormons with a starship?

Do you want bugs to drop a rock on Buenos Aires? Because that's how you get bugs to drop a rock on Buenos Aires.

But then they'd have to compete on features and usability, and no company wants that. They prefer to set up roadblocks and extract tolls.

If we all did it, yes. But there's no way we'd get enough people to do it to outweigh all the people who vote party line.

That's still not what I'm looking for. What's wrong with good old HTML?

I tried that but you need a Calibre library first, and that requires using Calibre AFAIK

Semi-Hemi-Demigod,
@Semi-Hemi-Demigod@kbin.social avatar

All the other services I have running are on a server in my closet, which I access with a web browser from other devices. Calibre needing to run on my workstation is a big shift in that workflow. Especially because all the rest of my media is sitting on that server.

Also, UX of open source desktop apps is… lacking. They don’t look good, and they don’t feel good to use. But that might be because I’m picky and spoiled by decades of using a Mac.

I definitely don’t want more Electron apps. About the only things I want to run locally is a browser, a text editor, and a terminal.

I would really love a version of Calibre that ran in a web browser instead of a desktop app

    And how does she intend to do this? Am I gonna have to fax my driver's license to every website I create an account at?

    I avoided the Instant Pot for a long time because it sounded cheap and all those functions couldn't possibly work well.

    I was wrong. I was so wrong.

    I discovered yesterday that they no longer sell 16 ounce containers of ricotta cheese. They're all now 15oz or 30oz. So if you have a recipe that needs four cups of cheese you have to either adjust the rest of the recipe down or deal with having a 1/4 cup less cheese than you really need.

    Fuck capitalism.

    Is this some Windows thing I'm too Macintosh to understand?
