Tartas1995,

I think there is a difference between being exposed to evidence of the contrary and sitting on it for a while. I don’t think you can change someone’s mind in a conversation. Rarely so. But if the person is “forced” to think about the topic and the evidence, eventually they will change their mind.

Tartas1995,

Honestly humans are stupid and it is so interesting what we learned to do for sometimes awful reasons that turned out to be pretty good for us. I mean a lot of medicine was “getting the devil out of you” for a long time and it sometimes happened to work because people would just do random shit.

Tartas1995,

To be fair, if you would own it, they would have a very different legal framework to be working in. Would they be legally allowed to shut down their servers? Or would they have to run the company until bankruptcy, so maybe decades after steam stopped being profitable? Their product is a service based on. They want the service to be able to be ended. If you buy the games like you do on steam and you own them, can they end it?

Tartas1995,

I think people in this section of the comments are a bit unreasonable. Jobst made 2 videos about Open Hands Foundation and the reason to publish the first one doesn’t have to be “drama”. The second… Maybe… But then again, people like “updates” which is also the reason by billy Mitchell videos are coming and they are updates. In both cases, there is a strong relationship between the core theme video games and the “drama”. Open Hands Foundation’s event was about showcasing games and Billy is the best video gamer of all time. God bless billy.

So I don’t think Jobst videos are so… Offtopic. Especially as he talked about Speedrun drama before.

Tartas1995,

What is your point?

Like why I care about whether or not it is the one in the bible?

What are you trying to get at?

It seems a bit “fun fact that is kinda related to the post but not really at the same time”. I mean obviously Israel is a Zionist state. It is literally the movement that made the state. How does it relate to apartheid? Now colonistic idealogy has a link to apartheid. But then again, Jews didn’t had the best experience with colonism within Europe which is what Hilter did. So you could easily argue against the sentiment, while I personally won’t argue either way as I don’t believe that I know or understand enough.

In short, I might agree with you if I would understand what you want to tell us. But I don’t, care to help me?

Tartas1995, (edited )

Please be serious and give me that list! Please be real!

Edit: guys, if they don’t answer, they might just missed the question. They might be real. BELIEVE!!!

I feel like if a blog post presents 2 options and labels one as the “scientific” one… And it is a deserved Label. Then there is probably a easy case to be made that we should teach children how to understand scientific papers and solve the equation in it themselves.

Honestly I feel like it reads better too but that is just me

Tartas1995,

I mean the blog post says

“If you are a student at university, a scientist, engineer, or mathematician you should really try to ask the original author what they meant because strong juxtaposition is pretty common in academic circles, especially if variables are involved like in $a/bc$ instead of numbers.”

It doesn’t say scientific but…

Tartas1995,

My comment was directed to the blog post and the claims contained in it.

The blog post claims it is popular in academy, if that is a deserved label, then I don’t understand how the author of the post lands on “there is no good or bad way, they are all valid”. I am in favor of strong juxtaposition but that is not the case that I am making here. Sorry for the confusion.

Tartas1995,

I am next for not leaving a tip at the self-checkout.

Tartas1995,

He is the most obvious case for a good mental health system. That could have went far with enough support. The world lost a great coder

Tartas1995,

Most people of any generation don’t know anything about Computers besides the most basic things. Too many people asked me to burn CDs for them because it was too difficult, I was like 11yo when people asked me…

Tartas1995,

That is a really bad take.

The meme is expressing that a strong password is a lot worse when reused.

Even if one agrees with your take, the meme is accurate.

But your take is really bad because “it needs to be leaked and cracked” ignores so many alternative ways to steal passwords. Xxs keylogger, mitm, phishing… And some of these attacks are making it really difficult or unlikely to succeed. E.g. the chance of a phishing email for your bank or apple icloud is much more likely than a phishing email about e.g. your babyphone. Segregation of accounts is also important because obviously if you use the same password 30 times, then there are 30 places to leak your password and some might use md5.

Tartas1995,

You have successfully missed my point, and apparently your own???

I am not saying strong passwords are protecting you from phishing. I never did.

The meme is saying reusing the password “ruins” a lot of the security benefits of a strong password. And it does. Like you agree.

So for you, reusing passwords… That is what I am taking about, as you expressed the reusing passwords is fine because it has to be cracked and with strong password that is difficult. So I was criticizing your statement. I don’t know how you manage to understand anything else from it honestly. And yes!!! Reusing passwords makes phishing attacks easier and more successful.

Tartas1995,

Either way, banning makes the platform better.

As a straight man and while I also don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, I don’t think your gayness should be a reason to not celebrate a holiday with straight people. Your gayness would be as welcome as my straightness on my table.

Edit: I honestly don’t understand why I am being down voted. Op expressed how they are straight and he is gay, as if that is the issue. It is not. It sounds to me as if they were bigots and pushy with their sexuality. They could be gay like him and they still could be bigots and making him uncomfortable with being too pushy with their sexuality. In other words, I tried to express that he should draw the line at sexuality but at bigots.

Tartas1995,

I meant that one’s sexual shouldn’t be the issue. And 99% of the time it isn’t. It is ignorance and bigotry. Bigotry towards (usually) the homosexual person and the ignorance of the bigot how much they force their sexuality on others.

Tartas1995,

As a nerd that doesn’t gatekeep and can prove something in real life, hey 😕

Tartas1995,

Oh thanks I didn’t know. I don’t care about fifa trash.

Tartas1995,

Not really. I didn’t know that Saudi Arabia will host one because I really don’t care about fifa trash. But the meme is about Qatar and NC. So talking about Saudi Arabia is still kinda weird but no one is saying Saudi Arabia would be better than NC. The post just implies Qatar is better, while you totally could understand the meme to be about harming the WC branding and pushing the limits too far in general.

Tartas1995,

Lol I don’t care about fifa trash. I am not complaining about where the WC is, as fifa is corrupt to no end. I didn’t know the WC will be in Saudi Arabia because I don’t care about anything fifa. Didn’t even imply that NC is worse than Saudi Arabia. I knew the WC was in qatar because a couple thousand Immigrants died in the construction of the Stadions. The meme was about Qatar and they talked about Saudi Arabia, so I expressed my confusion but apparently that makes me brainwashed lol

Tartas1995,

Uninformed jackass because I point out that his rant about Saudi Arabia is a little weird considering the fact that the post is about Qatar and not Saudi Arabia.

If you think a little about the post, you realize that it makes no point about whether or not Saudi Arabia is worse or better than nc. Neither did I. And if you think a little more you realize that the meme could be understood that fifa is pushing more and more the limits of their fans patience by making bad decisions repeatably. And through that, not even comparing Qatar with nc. In other words, the comment that I responded to talks about a party that is not part of the meme for no reason, and understands the meme in one precise way as alternative understanding would render the rant even more strange.

But I am uninformed jackass, for pointing at that… ok buddy.

Tartas1995,

English is not my native tongue and sometimes I forgot that Korea is not spelled with a c, like e.g. in french. That happens if you speak more than one language. But if all my “uninformed and jackassish”-ness is that, I will die happily.

Also If I were a Japanese citizen and I wouldn’t appreciate north Korea sending rockets towards Japan while those rockets might be nuclear, and that causes me to be more afraid of north Korea than Saudi Arabia, am I then also brainwashed by the us?

In case you are mad that I don’t write “Democratic People’s Republic of Korea” or “DPRK” but north Korea. Well, I also don’t call south Korea “republic of Korea” or ROK. I also don’t call Germany “Feberal republic of Germany”. But if you care some much about that please call it by the proper name, 조선민주주의인민공화국, or at least, Chosŏn Minjujuŭi Inmin Konghwaguk. Thanks for not being uninformed and jackassish .
