TheDoctorDonna,

That’s how I feel about working in office lol. I’m busting my ass trying to get more education so I can change position, but my office wants me to be admin forever, and adding that to the feeling like I shouldn’t even be there is pointing me in the WFH direction.

TheDoctorDonna,

…if by immediately you mean 4 years later- then yes.

I’m a masochist apparently.

TheDoctorDonna,

I give a second recommendation for Quick Question with Soren and Daniel.

I also recommend Belief it or Not. They go through histories of different sect of religion. I am pretty sure one of them grew up pretty religious and went to pastoral school, but I haven’t listened in a bit. I like to get behind and binge on road trips.

TheDoctorDonna,

I never read it in school, I would have taken it as some tik tok trend or something.

TheDoctorDonna,

Rural commuters are different, you never asked about that.

Though if more people lived in urban areas it would solve a lot of problems when it comes to unnecessary commutes and anyone who chooses to live suburbanly and commute is a car brain, yes.

And you might not necessarily be one (though you never mentioned a bike or a “smart” car before) but anyone who makes excuses to continue bad habits is most definitely a car brain. People driving 5 people’s worth of space and fuel the 12 blocks it takes to get to work are most definitely car brains. The people in over sized trucks and SUVs when they really don’t need to are most definitely car brains. And people who make excuses for their bad behaviour…guess what? Car brains. I don’t care if you think I’m on a high horse. Better a horse than a car.

TheDoctorDonna,

Thank you. Someone told me how to do it before but I couldn’t remember it lol.

TheDoctorDonna,

I am of the exact same opinion. I like having clean air and green spaces in my city and I’m really tired of the constant battle to walk places safely. If I am walking somewhere, I am guaranteed to have to avoid a car who didn’t care that there was a pedestrian with the right of way- or even smack in the middle of the crosswalk for that matter.

TheDoctorDonna,

LMFAO no one said you had a big swinging dick, I said you are one. Because all you care about is what cis, white men are getting out of the deal. Y’all have been on top of the world for fucking ever, white men literally rule the world, time to let the other genders be seen.

Honestly - How much will you sacrifice for a better world?

Confronted with the likelihood that we cannot achieve climate goals, confront socioeconomic inequality, and ultimately build a better world without significant personal sacrifice: How much are you personally capable and willing to lose? I mean this in the most earnest way possible. Acknowledging the likely possibility of working...

TheDoctorDonna,

If it was guaranteed to make the world better and not just some empty political promise, I would give up every luxury I could think of. The only thing I wouldn’t be willing to sacrifice are lives and human rights. If we needed to live in a tiny home with no internet, never eat out again and sew our clothes so that everyone is equal and has the same rights and comforts, I’m in. It would suck, but we’d survive and learn how to be content in knowing that no one is suffering for our greed anymore.

TheDoctorDonna,

And rarely available, and far away for most people. Getting in to a dental school for complicated work is like winning the lottery.

Can anyone else feel sensations in their brain?

Last time I checked there aren’t nerve endings in our brain, so it should be impossible to feel sensations in my brain. However, at random times during my life, like seeing the plot twist in Fight Club for example, I’ve felt feelings in my brain. I just felt it again now while doing some intense introspection, and I just...

TheDoctorDonna,

It was Effexor for me too, I was forced off it cold turkey and had been exhibiting signs of serotonin syndrome. 10 years later I still haven’t found anything that works long term to help keep the zaps away and they get debilitating sometimes.

TheDoctorDonna,

He really is, so is his wife. And he slays every role he plays. I rarely miss an opportunity to catch him on screen.

And I am so glad RTD is back! Moffat was fun and all, but both he and Chibnall were better at the short stories that could be told in an episode or two.

TheDoctorDonna, (edited )

Oooh I don’t want to spoil new episodes for anyone so I can’t actually respond to the Time Lord knowledge bit, but I feel like I recognized some of the words you used lmao.

TheDoctorDonna,

I am loving the specials and I am so glad to have “my” Doctor and companion back, if only for a short time.

TheDoctorDonna,

Technically yes. There’s lots of open source plans online to build your own bicycle.

But even hypothetically a bike would be preferable to a car for everyone involved.

TheDoctorDonna,

These are my every day rules.

TheDoctorDonna,

I agree it is acceptable, I don’t often miss an opportunity for a marathon- it just isn’t really true to the book, it’s more like bits of the book are scattered throughout the movies.

And I’m really upset that Hammond didn’t get eaten cause that would have been awesome.

TheDoctorDonna,

Yep same, I just slept a lot longer, probably cause of the cocktail they had to give me. And waiting for the OR took a little over a day so I was grateful to be out of it the whole time.

Fellow Extreme Weather Lemmings, what are your Buy it for Life winter boot suggestions?

We got my husband some Helly Hansen boots the year before last and we noticed a hole in them last year. I am right pissed. If I’m dropping hundreds of dollars on boots, I expect to get my money’s worth. What are your awesome boot suggestions to help me do just that?

TheDoctorDonna,

I live in Northern British Columbia, everyone looks weird in the winter lol.

TheDoctorDonna,

They aren’t warm enough is the biggest reason, but the style I have had issues as well. Downside of buying clearance online I guess.

TheDoctorDonna,

Yeah, buy it for life was too ambitious, but I used to get ten years out of my $250 boots, now that’s a base price for shit that won’t last a year. Care is generally not a concern for us, we take good care of our expensive shit because we need it to last as long as possible.

TheDoctorDonna,

Those are nearly the ugliest boots I’ve ever seen, but they do seem suited to Northern British Columbia, and I can’t argue that price, even with the exchange rate.

TheDoctorDonna,

😱 ew like in the ground?!

Sorry I was trying to channel Brawndo.

Why wasn't NYC's Central Park concept copied by other cities?

I’m talking about a massive park in the absolute heart of the city. Located such that is naturally surrounded by city high rises. *People are giving examples of parks that are way off in the boonies. I’m trying to say located centrally, heart of the city, you know where the high rises are. Yes I understand nyc has more, the...

TheDoctorDonna,

We have lots of large parks in my city. Not central park sized, but we are not an NYC sized city. It’s basically a small city incorporated into the forest. Sometimes they try to capitalize some of it, but the voters reliably shut them down, we love our green spaces.
