TheFriar,

Fuck coleslaw.

Raw cabbage or nothing. Hget your mayo off my cabbage.

TheFriar,

Great post. I give you my fake internet point up arrow.

TheFriar,

If people cared about your opinion on their intrusive actions, they wouldn’t be doing anything intrusive in the first place.

TheFriar, (edited )

Because dude was a genius prodigy. Smart people talk the best words.

TheFriar,

This would be the day that I die. And it comes out with some serious force like Katy Perry getting absolutely blasted to the floor? But the person who opens it is some old mayor or something. My entire life would have a point.

TheFriar,

Um. Bowl cuts are in style NOW. Have you not seen those 20-something TikTok guys who are so sure they’re the most attractive person in the world? Bowl cuts.

And bowl cuts weren’t cringe in the 90s. Hence why we all had them. It was an accepted style of the time, and because the most horrible styles of the 90s are suddenly on trend again, they’re not cringe now—according to general consensus and fashion. It’s all relative. You or I can look back at our bowl cuts and think they look terrible, but they didn’t have the same context when they were on our heads back then. And they don’t for the people who got that haircut now.

TheFriar,

Are you sure you’re not dealing with false memories here? We were kids. Sure, after we all lost the bowl cuts and became adolescents, we made fun of/were embarrassed of the haircuts we used to have.

But no one at all in my life ever even discussed our haircuts until we were old enough to want to be someone else. Or maybe you’re younger than I am and I lost my bowl cut with the times and some kids had them stick around through when you were a kid.

But there was zero discussion of them until we didn’t have them anymore in anyone i ever knew. But we all definitely had them as young kids.

TheFriar,

Scrotum-length is in the eye of the beholder.

Annihilate all short scrotes

TheFriar,

Agreed. A bot can accurately mimick language, it’s the logic that fails. This fails at basic sentence structure.

Secret service agents moments after the 1981 assassination attempt of Ronald Reagan. (lemmy.world)

Excerpt: On this day in 1981, President Ronald Reagan was shot in the chest at the side entrance of the Washington Hilton on Connecticut Avenue by John Hinckley Jr. Reagan was walking to his limousine after a speech to AFL-CIO leaders when Hinckley, 25, who was standing among a group of reporters, fired six shots, hitting Reagan...

TheFriar,

The affirmations, yeah. But memes? You can’t be too averse to memes on lemmy, can you?

TheFriar,

I’ll take the long odds of you vs. a serious pothead in being more chillaxed and housing mucho pie

TheFriar,

That’s where “egirls” are revealed to be “lo-fi-men”

TheFriar,

No, no, no, you don’t understand! He shot an entire 90 minutes worth of stuff that would’ve made up an entirely different movie and it all ended up on the cutting room floor! Pfft. Hollywood.

TheFriar,

For me it’s Red Dead 2. All that horseback riding and camping and herb picking and Pinkerton killing? It’s like I’m the one camping and horseback riding and killing pinkertons.

TheFriar,

Me and my warm thighs are one and the same. I also smear tuna all over my thighs. Doesn’t mean our love isn’t true and deep.

I guess I’m lucky. Before eating, after eating, in the middle of her meal, my cat will come and sit on my lap. She just luuuurves me

TheFriar,

8000 Rontgen? Not great but it’s not horrifying

TheFriar,

Lol that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. But I can tell you who thought of it, easily. The people optimizing the ad revenue. UX isn’t their focus, but boosting profits is.

TheFriar,

Are you guys only rarely seeing Reddit sources on lemmy? With these shitty lemmit bots inundating this site with literally just links to Reddit without even any preview, I’m seeing almost exclusively Reddit links. It’s honestly make me rethink using lemmy recently.

TheFriar,

I’m sure if there’s one thing they’ve really gotten the hang of, it’s optimizing advertising profits. They explicitly said they’re killing third party apps because they want to sell user data. (In so many words). I can’t imagine they hadn’t thought of what makes them money. I imagine, actually, it’s what 95% OF their focus has gone toward recently.

TheFriar,

Honestly, there are a few communities that rely on it—the more meme/picture-centric and the advice-centric ones—that I don’t want to completely block out. So I’ve been going and blocking the communities that flood my feed with minutes-old Reddit posts that don’t even offer the text to read or a picture to look at. I will say as well, I don’t know what causes one to include text but not the other, but I do also enjoy reading some of those insane stories posted on some subreddit I never subscribed to like relationship advice or drugs stories or something. There’s some wild shit. I don’t need the conversation in the comments to enjoy the batshit story

TheFriar,

Maybe I should’ve said that you CAN use them as a way to avoid touching two slices when pulling your own. You pick it up, place it in the middle of the slice next to yours, and pull so you don’t touch the crust of the next persons slice. Probably a creative use for something that was originally intended to keep boxes from saggjng

TheFriar,

I literally just learned last night that the little table is to hold the slice next to yours as you pull a piece, that way you’re not touching the next person’s slice with your grubby ass hands.
