communism is fine. People are shitty. That’s why they ruin everything, including capitalism.
This is what you said and what I was responding to (or a reasonable facsimile thereof).
Which is kind of the exact opposite of what you just said.
Communism is both an idealized view of people and their ability to create a system that is best for all—but it’s also overly naive about the entire process because it requires putting a unified party in charge to oversee the transition. So the general thrust of this belief is people are good, and people can be trusted to use their ultimate power for good…and then to willingly step down. Which is where every single communist movement has failed and every person put in power abused it and murdered.
People are shitty. That’s why they ruin everything, including capitalism.
Capitalism is a system that was designed to make people exploit each other. Its founding concept is exploitation. The more people down the line that you exploit, the more profit you have. It’s where underpaying, lobbying, outsourcing and slave labor, insider trading…literally every problem humanity has right now is inextricably tied to capitalism. Because the entire concept is built on exploitation. Screwing over more people = more money.
Do people in your daily life treat you like shit? And I mean just people. Not your boss, but everyday people. No. People on the whole are generally pretty easy going. But the system into which we’ve been born conditions us to hurt each other. We are all encouraged to take from everyone else because it means we get more.
But that is capitalism. That’s not people. If we were all born into a cooperative society…people would be helpful. The instinct to exploit and hurt others would be gone. Of course there are people that are just generally bad and hurtful, but this sense you have of people being generally awful would be gone. Because what you’re seeing is the hand of capitalism bitch slapping everyone. And you’re blaming it on people.
I just think you have it backwards. People are good. Capitalism ruined people. And communism is naive—but only because it believes you can hand a unified party of people ultimate power and they’ll happily relinquish it. Anarchism is the answer. It’s the same concept, but without trusting politicians.
Wrong. People aren’t shitty. The power to exploit turns people shitty. Power corrupts people. Hierarchy enforces a rule of shittiness, an opportunity and almost need to exploit. Eliminate the exploitative hierarchy and the concept of people being generally shitty would disappear.
Yeah, I got lucky with my cat too. If I sleep in, she sleeps in. Even if she’s not sleeping in, she just curls up in my arm and will sit there, just awake and chillin. When I go to bed, she’s ready for bed. She gets in, curls up in my arm, and is ready for sleep.
When she was a kitten, she was definitely bad about playing with my face at random hours of the night. But I sort of trained her to not wake me up. She wouldn’t eat until after I woke up-like, a few hours. So she never associated me waking up with food. It was just sort of the routine that she ate away from bedtime. Boom, perfect cat.
I could see the AI claim. Look between the middle guy’s legs. Is that the bottom of the car, the metallic rail thing (I’m not a car person)? Is it a reflection really bright on the ground? It doesn’t line up with the rest of the car.
Look at the the left guy’s right hand. Is he holding something? Or are his fingers fucked up like AI tends to do?
And the left side of the cover, behind the guy, is that another car? Or a truck? It wouldn’t fit into that space. It doesn’t make any sense. I could very much see this being AI.
It to mention, maybe the most telling, is the “picture taker’s” pointing hand. Is that the thumb? Where are the rest of the fingers? You would see the second knuckle in that position, or you’d see the fingertips curled into the palm. It’s just a blur of he vague idea of fingers. I’m pretty damn sure this is AI.
You’re telling me the woman whose tragedy was sensationalized as she was weirdly sexualized and demonized and judged in the court of public opinion doesn’t like the true crime industry? Weird.
But generalities are wrong, period. When the subject is described subjectively, then you’re not crossing any lines. When you question your own perception, there’s no way you could really inadvertently cross any sexist line.
You think? I dunno. It’s 100% about how you actually view women. When you talk about the woman you’re dating in a way that just recognizes them as another person, then there is no problem.
I believe wholeheartedly I could write this column without issue.
All I have seen is double standards whenever men’s issues need to be talked about versus women’s issues. Mental health issues, women pedophiles/predators versus men pedophiles/predators, or male SA versus female SA, military recruitments, physical risk jobs like ones at construction sites, women publicly allowed to get away with sexual harassment or roadside flirting, or men being called creeps for being nice to children but women are “inclusive” and never creepy, et al.
I thought you said men built this world. Now you have a problem with the way the world runs? Sounds like some pinko leftist feminist hooey.

This would be the day that I die. And it comes out with some serious force like Katy Perry getting absolutely blasted to the floor? But the person who opens it is some old mayor or something. My entire life would have a point.
Um. Bowl cuts are in style NOW. Have you not seen those 20-something TikTok guys who are so sure they’re the most attractive person in the world? Bowl cuts.
And bowl cuts weren’t cringe in the 90s. Hence why we all had them. It was an accepted style of the time, and because the most horrible styles of the 90s are suddenly on trend again, they’re not cringe now—according to general consensus and fashion. It’s all relative. You or I can look back at our bowl cuts and think they look terrible, but they didn’t have the same context when they were on our heads back then. And they don’t for the people who got that haircut now.
No, no, no, you don’t understand! He shot an entire 90 minutes worth of stuff that would’ve made up an entirely different movie and it all ended up on the cutting room floor! Pfft. Hollywood.
I’m sure if there’s one thing they’ve really gotten the hang of, it’s optimizing advertising profits. They explicitly said they’re killing third party apps because they want to sell user data. (In so many words). I can’t imagine they hadn’t thought of what makes them money. I imagine, actually, it’s what 95% OF their focus has gone toward recently.
Honestly, there are a few communities that rely on it—the more meme/picture-centric and the advice-centric ones—that I don’t want to completely block out. So I’ve been going and blocking the communities that flood my feed with minutes-old Reddit posts that don’t even offer the text to read or a picture to look at. I will say as well, I don’t know what causes one to include text but not the other, but I do also enjoy reading some of those insane stories posted on some subreddit I never subscribed to like relationship advice or drugs stories or something. There’s some wild shit. I don’t need the conversation in the comments to enjoy the batshit story
