People genuinely do not understand history.

I think a good comedic example of this is in Futurama, where some characters from the year 3000 get tossed back to Roswell in 1947. They try to blend with “period correct clothes” and lingo, but since they’re 1000 years out of place, they’re combining things that hadn’t been invented yet with stuff from 1947s past.

A lot of people seem to think cleopatra was hanging out with the dudes who built the pyramids and think it’s weird Sparta and Rome never went to war. I mean, sure technically they both existed in an overlapping period of about 50 years, but technically the USA has had diplomatic contact with the Holy Roman Empire for a few years.

Imagine if a shuttle landed on the planet and someone from 2402 popped out with their neon implants, xarthan death spikes proudly displayed, and an onion on their belt. Everyone knows they don’t show up until at least 2215.

My new job keeps telling me in order to correctly use their website, I need to use edge or chrome.

So far I haven’t had any issues except them constantly reminding me in emails.

This makes me wonder what edge and chrome are giving them behind the scenes that Firefox doesn’t.

No part of my job has been impacted, but they’re so insistent.

I once worked for a city school processing their old books, and found a few of these scattered in books from the 1950s that had been in storage. Last year issued stamp was in the 60s, no idea if they were actually used after that.

I also have seen this scribbled in the margins on my niece’s homework.

“Cool S” knows no time limitations.

In totally, completely, and in all ways unrelatedly: smartphones on the rise, gigantic pickups and suvs are on the rise, and tactile buttons you can hit without looking at a screen are on the decline.

and anecdotally it seems like since covid and not driving as much, everyone seems to have gotten worse at driving and still hasn’t quite picked it back up yet.

I always thank the first few enemies for their service. It’s through their sacrifice we learn.

The first one almost never gets to kill anyone. Except that goddamn goomba fuck that guy.

I started playing that game, but I get nauseous when playing some games as I get older, and something about that game triggers it hard.

If I had a pc that could handle it, I’d try it on that. Usually I can disable motion blur and DoF things that make it worse. Camera Bob is super bad, but iirc deathloop didn’t have much.

I almost feel bad for that guy.

Okay but for real that game gave young me so many issues… Loved it though. I had the cheats written down on the back.

Shadows of the empire, too. But I did love to play the train mission for some reason. Never did finish the game… Even with the debug menu to help me…

I can hear the voice over guy now…

“We’re not even sure why it’s here.”

Literally the only reason I remember the Falcon is a YT-1300 Corellian Freighter

Did rogue squadron have the blue version of the fighter, or was that battle for naboo?

Oooh, sorry. The one for Yar is incorrect.

Sorry, my dude, I can’t believe I forgot to Spoiler tag something so plot critical!

I used to screw around with friends as The Panto Gang where we decked out pantos in the most ridiculous visual mods, and drove circles around people until they started trying to blow us up.

In 8 months, I put more time into gta online doing that than in the 9 years afterward.

Every day we played, we knew how the night was going to end.

At some point when it’s getting late, we’ll all be trying not to be the first one to say anything, then one person shoots another, it devolves into a half hour of free-for-all; explosions, probably literal tons of bullets, and when we all finally ran out of ammo and started beating each other to death with pool cues, bats, and police batons, the night would come to an end.

And then another half hour of talking while a few wandered around aimlessly in cars or sat on the dashboard.

I don’t think he would put other people’s carts away.

He would track them down and make them do it themselves.

While grumbling about the decay of federation morals…

And obviously he put them in the brig while going over all laws and regulations to figure out if he can lock them up. He does that every time. It would be improper not to double check.

A couple minor changes to this one:

Obrien: gets imprisoned and tortured while returning cart, gets dumped next to the corral for pickup

Garak: convinces someone else to return the cart. They are happy to do so for such a charming gentleman. Merely a simple tailor, of course.

Sometimes it is effective. Just ask everyone who salivated over the PATRIOT act.

Now whether is justified is an entirely different story.

Well, that was plastic, this is 24k leaf.

I’m not about to advocate anyone waste $450 on something like this, but from what I know of the human body and chemistry, it should survive in your stomach if you take it with food.

If someone wants to verify, you doo-doo you I guess.

Hi, Whatever, I’m dad.

There was a duck at a local park that got shot by a “toy” crossbow and was walking around for a day or two slowly bleeding before someone took it to the local wildlife rescue.

I don’t understand why some people just feel the need to do things like this.

Unless the gator popped up and surprised someone having a picnic, then I understand the stab, but I still feel bad it’s just going around as a knife-based unicorn.

Transporter_Room_3,
@Transporter_Room_3@startrek.website avatar

It’s never a good idea to pull out a stabbing object, for the reason you mentioned, and the parts inside might be stemming blood flow. Even if you cut the arrow to pull it through neatly it wouldn’t make a difference unless you were at a vet clinic that specializes in birds.

“Have you tried just listening to what she’s quacking about? Or do you just tune it out.
It’s a marriage, Bro, you need to listen as much as you talk. Communicate. Hear what’s bothering her and you might be surprised how easy it is.
If you don’t, we’ll I guess your goose is cooked.”

Well that depends. Are you going to go on a rampage indiscriminately, or discriminately?

Because I will be damned before I’ll enable a racist murderer!
