Varyk,

Oh rad, thanks, I’ll check it out

Varyk,

I think I’m with you there.

It’s either machete or I have to watch him again in Desperado. I feel like in Desperado I was like “Oh yeah that is a murderer.” But he had to maintain that for the whole of machete.

Varyk,

Oh awesome, haha, this is a ringing endorsement.

How to pull rocks out of pipe in the ground?

My mom has a hole in the ground that she puts her clothes drying hanger in. Like this. The hole in the ground is a 2" or so pipe, set in concrete. The pipe has filled with gravel. Anyone have a tip on getting the rocks out? I can only get so many out using my fingers and then trying to use a set of chopsticks.

Varyk,

Long spoons. Or a backscratcher would work.

Varyk,

Okay, very cool. Thanks, he sounds worth looking into

What is your unpopular flim opinion

I’ll go first. Mine is that I can’t stand the Deadpool movies. They are self aware and self referential to an obnoxious degree. It’s like being continually reminded that I am in a movie. I swear the success of that movie has directly lead to every blockbuster having to have a joke every 30 seconds

Varyk, (edited )

Okay, so not every movie, just some recent popular movies from the same year from two of the largest studios with personnel and historical ties, and I guess illumination is also 3d animation if a different character style.

I understand the gripe, but that’s a very small section of animation.

Varyk,

Mom and Dad Save the World and then finding out that Jeffrey Jones is a child molester.

Varyk,

Hahaha, damn right!

Varyk,

Exactly, they’re sky sponges, we’ve mixed up where the rain and clouds go and now it’s some odd tradition to walk around in water when the clouds are right there, RIGHT there.

Write your local congressman

Show them how useful clouds can be

Varyk,

That makes sense to me where it would work. The memer would have to have an accurate sense of humor instead of just scatter shooting the phrase all over the place, but that’s difficult, so we end up with these. Thanks

Varyk,

Got it, thanks

Varyk,

Okay, thanks. That’s exactly what I’m curious about.

Varyk,

Wow, 85 minutes seeeeems short. I do like topher Grace, though, I believe he’d do a good edit. Have you seen the 85 minute prequel cut?

Varyk,

Ho ho whaaaat! I didn’t hear about that, thanks. Did any crew realize that before filming or did those slogans make it on the screen?

Varyk,

Yes, just read it. Very cool of the artists, and i do like that the showrunners took it on the chin instead of denouncing the graffiti or the artists.

I think I only watched the first couple seasons of Homeland.

Varyk,

I feel the same way every time I see that. It’s too common, and I think sometimes the writer or director is purposely not revealing something integral to the plot, but usually it’s just lazy production.

Someone was getting hanged yesterday in a TV show I was watching and he was desperately shouting his last words before being winched up, but the subs just said “speaking in French”

Varyk,

Hahaha! I saw volver!

The original translation is way funnier, thanks.

Varyk,

Yeah, that’s a very interesting one also. Moving internationally because you don’t want to introduce Korean instant noodles to the audience.

And then saying sirloin instead of hanu or wagyu(which would have the same international problem) is also bizarre…

Thanks. You’re right, those are more subtle mistranslations, but I think they’re both great answers here.

Varyk,

That’s what I meant by how conservative Japan was, they appear to give more license to caricatures and stereotypes in their arts than they would allow in society, but that does not leak into day-to-day life, the government and the public are extremely intolerant of the other in general.

Varyk,

Hahaha, awesome.

‘Alien: Romulus’: Ridley Scott Says Fede Álvarez’s Movie Is “F***ing Great” (deadline.com)

Of course he’s going to say that, but somehow this is the first I’ve heard that Fede Álvarez is directing an Alien movie. It’s hard to be optimistic about a new Alien announcement lately, but I’m hoping this gets a treatment similar to Dan Trachtenberg’s Prey. It’s also a Hulu release so we’ll see.

Varyk,

What do you mean? I’m not really aware of recent alien entries, have they been bad?

Varyk,

What are you talking about? All the first world countries have public health care and it works better than private health care.

Even in the states, public health care would be far cheaper than private healthcare. Anybody who wants private healthcare instead of public health care is brainwashed.

Varyk,

It’s cheaper to have free health care than it is to have our current system and more productive for our country, so it’s really just a matter of following through on any of the public health care referendums.

Varyk,

Yes, that is rust, but it’s in no way dangerous, and you can also scrape it off with any abrasive scrub if you don’t like the look of it
