I was using Samsung’s news app until it kept overwhelming me with ads for walk-in showers and politics. What are good apps that aggregate news from multiple sources? Bonus if they provide actual links to the articles and don’t just steal the content.
1440 is a great daily newsletter with least-biased articles about American and world news.
I’ve been using it a couple years now, it’s my favorite news aggregator.
It’s just one daily email with the most significant news of that day, at least one source per story and often multiple sources for the larger stories.
The only ads are text, you can scroll right past them, and they include two or three fluff pieces at the end. Like a cat on a hamster wheel or something so you can get your inane meme fix as well.
Ha, I was going to say jerboa is my favorite so far.
I’m having a different experience, haven’t had any bugs and the updates seem to add features/stability without introducing any bugs on my device, I’m also on Android.
What kind of things are making it unusable for you?
Inspired by a post that popped on lemmy world today about Weird Al it got me thinking. I listed out a bunch of names but the one that I think fits the most would probably be Surfan Stevens. Who do you all think?
I know I want some of them and I don’t have infinite apps, so whichever one’s irritate me after a few notifications I long press and disable that notification.
After a few weeks or so you just get the notification you care about
I watch a lot of foreign language films, and read a lot of translated literature and I always try to imagine what I’m missing out on by not reading or taking in media in it’s original language....
I’ve only watched a couple episodes of pokémon and just a few clips of sailor Moon, but now I’ll have to dive into the American incestuous cousins, that’s pretty hilarious. “Don’t make them lesbians, just make them cousins that hook up. Americans understand that.”
Although I’m also surprised that Japanese anime had an openly gay couple. It seems like they give their artists broad license with respect to government and popular cultural sentiment , but it’s still such a conservative country, especially in terms of homosexuality, that I wouldn’t have thought Japanese networks would’ve allowed a lesbian couple to appear on popular anime.
I’m very curious about who Kevin is, there seems to be such a specific take on him that I haven’t come across in pop culture like I have with Picard or shatner or anybody else.
I have also never watched a single episode of any Star Trek series
I pronounced thesaurus with the emphasis on the first syllable until I was like 14 and someone called me out because although I had read the word so many times, I couldn’t imagine that thesaurus would be described the same way as tyrannosaurus. That seemed ludicrous and wrong.
No, we don’t need to see if public healthcare works. We already know that it’s cheaper than private healthcare and that it works better than private health care.
Other countries have been proving that for generations and the numbers prove it in our country.
Your sources: 2 articles making a point you don’t understand and three conservative paragraphs crying that the left is fascist without any proof.
Ya been played.
Case in point: your new Yorker article opens with pointing out conservatives tried to rig the most recent election but luckily most people voted in 2020 and conservative interests(including the conservative executive branch) failed to steal the 2020 election like they did for (conservative)bush via voting machine/site interference(conservative method), gerrymandering(a conservative tool)) and taking away voting rights(conservative tool).
