Is there an artist so horrible that no matter how hard you try that you cannot separate their art from them?

Similar to the recent question about artists where you can successfully separate them from their art. Are there any artists who did something so horrible, so despicable, that it has instantly invalidated all art that they have had any part in?

aeronmelon,

“Starships that do not run on propane are WITHOUT HONOR!”

aeronmelon,

You ass. I had to check to make sure Picardo was still alive!

Don’t scare me like that. :)

You think that the Easter eggs in the ship diagram in Engineering is just for fun, no. It’s actually canonical to the series.

How is an automobile, a prop plane, a rubber duck, and giant Dremel canon? Remember what the Enterprise-D is to Starfleet. It was the biggest, most luxurious starship ever built. It was designed to have a large population of civilians. Remember the first episode of TNG? That display in Engineering is not privileged access, there were families with children consulting the display to find things on the ship. Engineering is a critical area, but it’s not classified. Starfleet wanted civilians to visit and see the crew in action.

In addition to being a Carnival Cruise liner, it’s the Enteprise! The flag ship on a permanent first contact mission. They wanted attractions onboard for the residents and visitors to enjoy. There’s an old Earth automobile on display, there’s an old Earth airplane on display. The drill is clip art of a drill, but what if it was meant to represent an old Saturn rocket? It makes sense that Enterprise would have a small museum onboard in addition to other attractions like the arboretum and holodecks.

So… why a duck? Because there’s someone else living on the Enterprise. A certain aquatic species of Earth that turned out to be far smarter than they were originally given credit for. The duck was their idea. They insisted. They just really like rubber ducks. So a giant one was installed on the Enterprise at their request.

Bonus fanon: They really do decorate it for Christmas. They just forgot to take the decorations down and Data got confused.

aeronmelon,

“But you don’t have to take my word for it.”

aeronmelon,

I hope Jefferies Tube Chakotay becomes a trend.

aeronmelon,

Caesar: “Et tu.”

Me: “Gesundheit.”

“You pulled the football away! Captain Picard never pulled the football away.”

aeronmelon,

I heard a more snarky version:

“For every safety feature there’s a corpse with an interesting story.”

aeronmelon,

Avery Brooks will probably never agree to play Sisko again. But Samuel L. Jackson might.

It could happen. IT COULD HAPPEN!

aeronmelon,

“Glory to you… and your LOLLIPOP GUILD!”

aeronmelon,

Said r/risa to c/risa.

The torch has definitely been passed. I wonder how the original subreddit is doing over there in the Mirror Universe.

aeronmelon,

Stamets: “Say something positive about Discovery!”

Anson Mount as Pike. Which was such a good idea it spawned an actually decent show.

“Say something positive about Picard!”

It’s over.

:)

aeronmelon,

“So anyway, I incited a gang war, had my ship conduct an orbital bombardment on a densely urban area, then established myself as the new leader.

Then I left.”

aeronmelon,

Paris graduated Starfleet Academy, and had a rank before being jailed. They don’t say it outright, but I think Janeway got Starfleet’s permission to commute his remaining sentence in exchange for being an “observer” on her ship. But even without being part of her crew officially, he was part of Starfleet again (uniform) so she had the power to promote (and demote) him at her discretion.

aeronmelon,

If by “Trekkies” they mean all the uptight people that migrated from r/startrek, it makes perfect sense.

Risa (on either site) is much more accepting.
