US residents: What big domestic policy improvements have the american people won from congress in the last 30 years? (kbin.social)

Interpret improvements as you like. For me it's any large scale reforms or legislative packages designed to improve the country for all or see to the material interests of the majority without overly benefiting the elite....

The worse problem is that they also sneak in illegal drugs like fetanyl through the border. A wall can definitely help here

ani,

In that case we just need to build a wall that reaches the stratosphere. What do you think?

ani,

You can’t go wrong with Sourceforge

ani,

Yes, it is actually a geopolitical issue that affects the biology of Americans. The Pacific Province has active volcanoes that expel smoke and when inhaled makes Americans in the region feel lightweight and as if fluctuating. The Columbia Plateau terrain is formes by basaltic lava that erupted millions years ago; this terrain has special characteristics that make it smoother than other types, so Americans feel like fluctuating instead of being in the ground. The Appalachian Highlands were formed by colliding the North America Plate with the African and Eurasian plates, so when American walk through these places they feel like being in a continent other than North America. The list goes on, but we shall also remember America is a capitalist neoliberal country which is a modern framework for society, so Americans are very stressed out by this system that’s very different from when they were hunter-gatherers; this difference creates an environment prone to the development of mental illness and believing in conspiracy theories. The result: children shooting schools.

What can the US do to help Mexico finally stop the cartels?

Politicians constantly talk about stopping the illegal immigrants that are coming from Mexico, but putting a wall has never and will never be a solution since the reason why so many displaced keep coming across the border is mostly to escape the crime, corruption, inequality, and violence of they have to live in their home...

The desire to build a self-defense kit from Google and the Internet as it is today

(if you don’t want to go through all my strident words) Thus, after this rant, my question is: where do I start from to build my surviving kit and my right to be private and disclose personal information to who and when I want to. How I become the actual owner of my device?...

ani,

You’re being a bit too paranoid. You’re very safe using Google services since they are the most secure. They offer many good services for free and are very democratic, even Chromebooks are so cheap. Please OP, maybe you should seek therapy for dealing with such irrational beliefs.

ani,

IIRC ubi is a liberal idea. So right wing

What search engine do you recommend that isn't Google or Bing?

I’m still trying to de-Google my life, little by little. I don’t trust Bing for similar reasons. DDG is feeling shady of late. What’s the search engine you all recommend that I can inject into my daily life? Is there perhaps a search engine that is focused on code, or have we just all moved on to AI for searching?...

ani, (edited )

Reserve time for planning. Plan the next day the day before, the next week the week before, and so on. I recommend using the Get Things Done strategy.

ani,

LinkedIn, and Instagram. You don’t need anything else.

ani,

I don’t care about “freedom” that’s actually used for harassing and killing innocent people. Saving people’s life, like the life of that young woman, should be priority in all cases. All kinds of social media that don’t comply should be banned. I’m really serious on this take. Go have your freedom in your island country all alone instead.

ani,

That’s not freedom, that’s unregulated communication mediums being exploited to harass and kill. Do you really rather innocent people dying? If I was a politician, I would be definitely fighting for better regulation of social media to save lives.

ani,

Honestly, I haven’t watched it. What association are you making here?

ani,

Donate to GOP’s campaign, so they win next presidential election. This will effectively change current political situation

Firefox primary revenue is Google as default search engine, i.e. Mozilla sustainability model is unreliable since it depends on a direct competitor. Mozilla, and thus Firefox, is controlled oposition. Safari, on the other hand, has no such issues whatsoever, and has an independent browser engine. That’s why I recommend Safari, and everybody here should switch to it, and I recommend you as well.

ani,

Are you that naive? Why are you defending Google anyway? Google most definitely has a backdoor filter to block FOSS and communist apps like Lemmy and fediverse in general. I also tested Gboard and I can’t gesture type Lemmy. This is proof Google is doing some shenanigans. And I challenge you to try it yourself, stop shilling Google dude!

What is Something Scientific that you just don't believe in at all?

EDIT: Let’s cool it with the downvotes, dudes. We’re not out to cut funding to your black hole detection chamber or revoke the degrees of chiropractors just because a couple of us don’t believe in it, okay? Chill out, participate with the prompt and continue with having a nice day. I’m sure almost everybody has something...

trans people going through HRT

Not op, but I went a bit through HRT, then desisted (primarily because of financial issues, then because I didn’t identity with the opposite sex anymore). IMO transgenderism is understandable because many gender norms seem socially constructed, but transexualism (including HRT and surgeries) is a mental disorder or a maladaptive coping mechanism or immaturity leading to people not actually understanding and not accepting their bodies function, and I believe social contagion is true. It is pretty concerning minors are allowed to HRT since they bodies including their minds didn’t fully develop yet (which goes until age ~24). There’s a ton of detrans who regret going through transexual procedures.

I am transfem, and prior to transitioning I was bi. Since starting HRT, I tend to have an aversion to men sexually and am more lesbian aligned now.

I don’t think this has anything to do with you going through HRT. It just shows how your natural hormones and nature are still strong enough to do what is natural. It’s just immaturity; time went and you matured, even with HRT. Most natural women are actually attracted solely to men in comparison.

ani,

microscopic portion a fraction of 1%

I tried searching for scientific articles but didn’t find a source on this 1%. Could you share a scientific source on this?

suggest social contagion isn’t a thing either.

I don’t see how they are causally correlated. I just say from personal experience… that if I wasn’t exposed since my pre-teen years to LGBT I would likely never think transitioning was a thing and as such would not have pursued that. Today I see it was just a waste of time and money trying to transition.

Some studies… In a review of 27 studies…

What studies are these? There’s no reference.

almost 8,000 teens and adults who had transgender surgeries

Also, it’s pretty crazy they’re doing this on teens and crazier that their parents are allowing that. Like, do you really think teens have the maturity to comprehend what are the consequences of this in the long term? I don’t think so even if some doctor gives them a paper to read, just as I was given.
