asexualchangeling,

I so so badly want Minetest to get popular and take over

asexualchangeling,

Playing as durge rn (second play through, first as durge) and I’ve already lost all but shadow heart, astarian, and lazel to “accidents”, I hope I don’t regret that later but it’s nice having a more limited team, plus I can rely on hirelings if I need to

asexualchangeling,

Until it can run my banking app it’s unfortunately not a contender, no matter how much I want it

asexualchangeling,

NVIDIA getting its shit together maybe?

That truly would be the year of the linux desktop

asexualchangeling,

I genuinely wish they had properly in forced lockdown for around 6 months, maybe then more of my friends who had covid would be alive

asexualchangeling,

Unless my info is out of date that VR steam link still doesn’t work with Linux, it’s Valve so it’s a matter of time, but still…

asexualchangeling,

I’ve been playing a lot of SM2 so all I can think is “WE ARE VENOM

asexualchangeling,

Meanwhile I’m over here, not used windows on my own machine in more than 1.75 years and I don’t even touch the terminal most of the time, I know how some commands work, but I hardly touch them

I should really learn to do more with it, but I have my system setup and working how I like, So I don’t really have motivation to learn to do all this other cool stuff

If I wasn’t in love with my Logitech MX-ergo I would absolutely get one of those, but with the 3D printed part I printed to give it a much steeper angle, I’m not sure if I can use anything else on a regular bases anymore

asexualchangeling,

In my experience you either love trackballs or hate them, I love them (but I only like thumb balls, never really got into other types)

asexualchangeling,

Nvidia can have it’s issues, but 1) they’re few and far between, and 2) they’re getting better all the time

Just so long as you didn’t want to play Starfield on release week

asexualchangeling,

Same here, honestly it’s news to me that the main version has limited extensions

How do y'all deal with programs not supported on Linux?

I’ve been seeing all these posts about Linux lately, and looking at them, I can honestly see the appeal. I’d love having so much autonomy over the OS I use, and customize it however I like, even having so many options to choose from when it comes to distros. The only thing holding me back, however, is incompatibility issues....

asexualchangeling,

Oh hey, same here! I’ve always been pretty poor so open source programs were the easiest way to do a lot of things

And can I just say, GIMP opens way faster in linux it really took me by supprise the first time

asexualchangeling,

I would like to know this as well, I’ve heard it a few times on lemmy but never any explanation about it

Also I don’t use nobara yet but I plan to when my Q2 framework 16" arives

asexualchangeling, (edited )

I don’t tend to use word documents much anymore, but from what I’ve heard, of the 2 main open source document viewers Only Office probably has the most compatibility with word, and iirc it recently added PDF support

Linux user here, I really think we should stop recommendding Ubuntu, it’s not what it used to be

asexualchangeling,

I’m glad your path to linux was less volatile than mine, I ran away from windows becouse my computer would not stop blue screening even after I re installed the OS, Funny thing is it works just fine on linux and I’ve had no issues

asexualchangeling,

They are making jokes about file types, .exe doesn’t work in windows without a translation layer, such as wine, whereas .sh is a scripting file type

asexualchangeling,

In the US it’s more like “better make being homeless illegal”

asexualchangeling,

Clearly a holdover from when French was the lingua franca

asexualchangeling,

I’m planning on trying nobara when I get the framework 16"

asexualchangeling,

This is not what I meant when I said we need more Mobile OS competition…

asexualchangeling,

Honestly I don’t get why Gnome is standard for so many distros, if that’s your thing sure but I feel like KDE makes more sense as a default (unless you’re going for more of an apple feel)

Disney is gouging customers with a near doubling of subscription costs. (sh.itjust.works)

Disney is raking its customers over the coals with a 75% price hike for their annual subscription (originally $80.) People wonder why piracy is on the rise.Multiple commenters are saying I’m off base about the 75% price increase. My payment less than a year ago was $79.99. Here’s the proof.

I’m only keeping it to share with my parents, the second they follow Netflix’s new policy on password sharing though I’m out

asexualchangeling,

For my parents sake I’m keeping it until that gets to me, though they have been warned and are going through everything they want to watch as fast as they can
