I hope someday we'll find a way to pirated a car (lemmy.world)

In the end, the KIA car company made its cars into subscription models, I really hate this because in the end the car we buy with our own money doesn’t feel like it belongs to us. Should we finally buy an old school car ? so as not to be affected by this subscription models or is there a way to crack the software installed in...

I might be the guy that shows up at the revolution for the most trivial reason but I hate that it says $59.00 per annually like companies think they’re so smart for having business school graduates on staff charging for things only business school graduates would think to charge for but they can’t even get basic grammar right.

It was the Democrat president that bypassed congress twice to send munitions to Israel during it’s active genocidal campaign so no, it’s not Republicans.

This is true

people tend to develop liking or disliking for things merely because they are familiar with them

and it’s amazing that basic psychological principles have been decoupled from mainstream awareness of marketing tactics (obviously intentionally).

It’s great that these people are receiving treatment, not only because it’s the right thing to do but also so that the world gets an accurate idea of how much damage is actually being done and what kind of resources will be needed to heal from this war and occupation.

The trauma experienced by hundreds of thousands of children and their parents in Gaza will also have long-term debilitating effects, psychiatrists and psychologists have warned, particularly as there are no therapeutic facilities left. Few of Gaza’s hospitals are functioning any more, even for operating on the severely injured.

There are also thousands of examples in the West Bank, especially with warrantless entries to Palestinian homes (most often done at night to instill more fear and suffering from sleep deprivation onto the Palestinians) and indefinite incarceration without charge, sometimes subject to torture.

What’s the implication of a “nuclear powered” sub? Does that mean it also has nuclear weapons?

Come on man, let them impress us with their technical knowledge and pedantry.

Ending support for Windows 10 could send 240 million computers to the landfill. Why not install Linux on them? (gadgettendency.com)

With support ending for Windows 10, the most popular desktop operating system in the world currently, possibly 240 million pcs may be sent to the landfill. This is mostly due to Windows 11’s exorbitant requirements. This will most likely result in many pcs being immediately outdated, and prone to viruses. GNU/Linux may be...

If these were all stacked laptops, stacked on top of each other, they would form a stack 600 km above the Moon.

Ummm… what??

Assuming 3 cm thick laptop x 240 mil = 7,200 km. Moon is on average 380,000 km away. Even 30 cm thick laptops (lol) would only get you to 72,000 km.

Zorin was, at least a few years ago, tailored to be easy to adapt to for people switching from Windows. This new version looks beautiful, I’m going to take it for a spin!

Ylönen, who at the time knew little about implementing strong cryptography in code, set out to develop the Secure Shell Protocol (SSH)

TIL SSH was invented by a Finn. I swear that country has the most awesome per capita of any country on earth.

It’s a hard sell to say that it was.

Israel: We are using surgical strikes and guided missles to uproot Hamas.

† 15,000 people killed †

World: So you specifically targeted all those 15,000 people?

Israel: How could you be so anti-semitic??

Narrator: Turns out they were actually not trying to minimize civilian casualties at all.

Looks like those guys will shoot anyone. With such a gross power imbalance how can they be so scared of everything?

www.cnn.com/2023/12/16/middleeast/…/index.html

IDF destroyed Israeli homes (with Israelis inside) when Hamas raided them on Oct 7, and now they are indiscriminantly bombing Gaza, including where the hostages might be. I don’t see the logic at all. It seems like they don’t care about Palestinian OR Israeli civilians.

EDIT: I just stumbled upon this video, which shows Israeli police arresting a (black) Israeli soldier for trying to cross the street. It seems racist af. I really can’t figure out who they are protecting.

I can’t wait to see what future generations will remark “I can’t believe they lived in a world without that knowledge” about our time.

Right. Why not peacefully protest? I’m pretty sure that the desperation needed to throw a rock at a tank is incomprehensible to entitled Americans who have never missed a meal out of necessity. There is very little real support for the Palestinian genocide, but a strong false narrative. This article has some descriptions of the day to day struggle of Palestinians living under apartheid.

Yes, and this is a vestige of the destabilization of African nations by white colonial powers to have and sell enslaved people. What boggles my mind is that paying a living wage to workers would increase the price of Mars chocolate slightly if at all (corporate profits could eat the difference) but the people with the power to make those decisions are like “nope! We could get even more profits by paying less for raw materials!” so they seek and/or create even more disenfranchised workers. Doesn’t get more disenfranchised than a 5 year old that has to go to work to help the family make ends meet, but I’m sure the corporate overlords are cooking something up as we speak.

bartolomeo,
@bartolomeo@suppo.fi avatar

That’s right. Since Palestine is occupied by Israel it isn’t legal for Israel to use military force there, only police force. To be more precise, this is a decades-long occupation that has established an apartheid state, and to be even more precise, this is genocide.
