bluewing,

Perhaps it 'tis a silly thing. But I just want to thank whoever did the art work for drawing the stick figure guy with the shotgun as being left handed and holding a left hand shotgun.

My mental status thanks you and as another member of the Bar Sinister, I also thank you.

bluewing,

While that’s a nice sentiment that I agree with, you need to remember that those low paying jobs illegal immigrants often take, still pay far more than they could ever hope to make back home. Add to the low to nonexistent job skills and language issues, they start from far, far behind the eightball.

Having worked with large number of illegals back in the day, I found the vast majority to be quite genuinely nice people and co-workers. And they were some of the hardest workin’ sumbitches you would ever be around.

What I found interesting was the friction between the second and younger generations of Tex/Mex families and the newly arrived Mexicans, (I use Mexican to denote the actual country of origin here - sad that I need to do so). The first generation immigrants were very religious and conservative. While the second generations often adopted the more liberal attitudes of the locals. It caused a lot of ill undercurrents between the two groups.

bluewing,

Sadly, it’s a chicken and egg situation. You can’t get a better job because you have no skills employers will pay more for. And you can’t very easily find a way to get those skills because you would get deported because you are somewhere illegally.

It makes for a complicated problem to solve. And I don’t have an answer other than to say that it’s on the first generation to make it so the following generations climb the ladder upwards.

bluewing,

Not that you don’t deserve the time off - you do. But they ain’t wrong are they.

bluewing,

From what I understand, Youtube ain’t paying for content anyway. Creators are routinely being de-monitized

bluewing,

There are teams and leagues in Britain and Germany that play “American Football.” They just aren’t at the level of US teams yet. But they are getting better at it.

The NFL has been playing games in Britain for years now. And I think this year they played in Germany also. It’s an open secret that the NFL wants a team based in Britain also. They just can’t quite figure out the logistics.

Like it or not, American Football/Hand Egg is gaining popularity around the world - slowly perhaps but steadily. The NFL is coming for your “football”. In any case, it’s better than Cricket…

bluewing,

You will find “Hands” still being used as a specialty measurement of how tall a horse is. And I think they measure at the front shoulder. But that is, I think, the only time you might hear it.

For the curious, 1 Hand = 4"/~100mm For example - The mare stood 15 hands tall.

bluewing,

There is an argument to made that very few people care about the actual distance anything is from themselves anymore. What they are about is “how long will it take to get there”.

You very probably have little to no clue what the actual distance from your front steps to your favorite grocery or pub. But you DO know how long it takes to get there.

bluewing,

People don’t get that part. The US was one of the early adopters of the metric system. Mostly thanks to the French supplying Charleville muskets for the fledgling US army during the revolutionary war. And we kept making French pattern muskets, (in metric measurements), for about the next 40 years I think.

bluewing,

It ain’t never for fun. But it beats dying…

bluewing,

Joke’s on the surgeon - prostrate surgery is done through the penis with a laser.

Source: I’ve had 3 prostrate surgeries.

bluewing,

You will also often see such packaging used with in hospitals, group homes, and nursing homes. It helps to limit med errors for nurses and cnas and can allow some mentally handicapped people or elderly to have some control over their lives.

It’s not a common packaging you are going to get from a pharmacy unless specified for you by a doctor.

bluewing,

Because one pill is probably the recommended dosage for that medication.

bluewing,

Home Despot - a place for wannabe interior decorators. Like Ron Swanson said to an employee at HD “I know more than you.”

People with manly man projects go to real lumber yards where you lean on a counter and talk to a clerk and a yardman pulls and brings you your materials with a forklift and loads them on your trailer - because strapping your load down to a trailer and driving away is a manly man thing to do…No little carts needed.

bluewing,

Just my opinion, but no I don’t think there is a generalized reason to choose LMDE over LM or the other way around. Try them both and see which you like the best. Use that and be happy.

Typed from my LM Cinnamon 21.3 upgrade from 21.2.

bluewing,

Disclaimer: I’m old and retired. My wife is 7 years younger than me and we’ve been married 37 years.

You will always stop and look at and admire a pretty young lady. You might even think to yourself, “If I was 40 years younger!” And then immediately think to yourself “But any way”.

As you get older you will become more attracted to older women. Not because you think they are prettier than younger women, that’s biology for you. But, you will find the personality and cultural reference points of age far more compelling than plain beauty in your relationships. Turns out, shared life experiences and culture means more in the long run than the smell of bubble gum and all the drama of youth.

bluewing,

While I do have a couple of DeWalt drills, I’ve been a member of the House of Ryobi for 20+ years. Ryobi was the first to really push the idea of “one battery fits all” ecosystem with their 18V ONE batteries.

My Wife bought me a tool set for Christmas one year and I have never looked back. 20 years later I’m still using those tools and Ryobi still supports them. A new Lithium battery battery still works in my old tools. The “pro tools” do not take that track.

bluewing,

And yet somehow the younger generations are powerless to stop the evil boomers when they have the political numerical superiority to make the changes they want now…

Get out and vote. Run for office - local politics is where you start - get involved. Be that change.

******And always remember that one day YOU will become the hated generation that is standing in the way of progress.

bluewing,

And one day, every generation’s population will hit zero. Always happens…

bluewing,

I have served in local politics and public safety but my time is long past. It’s well past time the next generations start to run things and I’m tired of waiting.

bluewing,

Do you think your body hurts now? What are ya’ll going to be like when you hit your 60’s and are truly broken by old age and poor choices? Those doctors ain’t handing out opioids like candy anymore, (and as a retired medic in my 60’s, I’m very happy about that).

Old age ain’t for sissy’s, so enjoy how little misery and pain you have now. Because it won’t get any better…
