What’s extra confusing is that I’ve seen people asking about how to get this information from the API, with the answer being that you can’t (I guess to protect privacy?). It’s only accessible to federated servers, but then those can do what they want with it including publishing it to everyone.
Why do you think those letters in the mail can be ignored?
I forget the exact reason, I researched it at the time and don’t remember well now, but the other comments are probably right. Anyway I know they can be ignored because I ignored them and nothing ever happened. Was more than a decade ago so I think I’m good. They were clearly sending them out to a large portion of everyone going through the intersection for no good reason, it was basically just a grift, so it would have been ridiculous to actually enforce all of them with police and courts.
This is an interesting angle. Makes me wonder, do we have a moral duty to reciprocate love and loyalty, or the potential for it? And if not, what basis can there be for treatment of human beings?
A year ago local LLM was just not there, but the stuff you can run now with 8gb vram is pretty amazing, if not quite as good yet as GPT 4. Honestly even if it stops right where it is, it’s still powerful enough to be a foundation for a more accessible and efficient way to interface with computers.

Idk about that, even people without electricity or running water can get a cheap cell phone and solar charger now.
What doesn’t have much of a positive impact, however, is the delta between an affordable item and a high-end item that costs many multiples more. People can and should aim for those “luxuries” that don’t yet tip over into deminishing returns
Definitely. No need to be giving up things like regular bathing and functional cooking utensils that make a big difference for little expense.
Most new money enters the system by being created via loans ultimately from the federal reserve bank. This is the primary way the money supply expands.
Money printing. Larger amounts loaned out every year devaluing all existing dollars. The number might be higher but it counts for less. Official inflation figures don’t even cover it since they don’t count things people actually try to use to store wealth.
That’s an assumption about what I meant, but the fact is both create money. Banks loan out new money, which must only be matched by deposits equal to a small percentage of their outstanding loans specified by the reserve requirement. Which not too long ago IIRC was temporarily removed entirely.
It’s valuable because barter economies aren’t real and don’t work. All the alternatives you mention are difficult to transport, not fungible, or not scarce, so they won’t work as a currency. Either we revert back to gift economies where distribution of goods happens within a community and follows cultural rather than economic rules, or the market settles on a currency for standardized arbitrary transactions between strangers that has the necessary properties of a currency.
Shouldn’t need any special setup then, maybe install FreeTube or something for the YT adblock since that’s going through some turmoil right now with ublock extension etc, anything else just google how to do it on Windows if you’re not sure.

Yeah but the saying doesn’t make sense anymore since most of the fish are gone. Fishing is now a form of entertainment maintained by the state that you must pay to enjoy in a limited way, not a viable source of sustenance.
