WW1 experimental camouflage sniper’s suit using the concept of “dazzle.” Dazzle camouflage, also known as razzle dazzle (in the U.S.) or dazzle painting, was a family of ship camouflage used extensively in World War I.
The current flag dates back to the middle ages, maybe as far as the 12th century. This makes it not only one of the youngest national flags of the world (since 2004), but also one of the oldest! (Even if it has been in disuse for most of its history.)...
“The wine-red colour symbolised the good times of the past as well as the future, whilst the black represented Russian rule, and the white represented hope for peace”
I’ve been on Reddit for over a decade. But I’m done with that site and want to do something else. What do normal people look at on their phones? Is it all social media? Streaming?
After quitting Facebook and Instagram, I spend a lot more time reading books on my phone. I have found two apps to read and listen to free books through my library.
I have been distro hopping for about 2 weeks now, there’s always something that doesn’t work. I thought I would stick with Debian and now I haven’t been able to make my printer work in it, I think I tried in another distro and it just worked out of the box, but there’s always something that’s broken in every distro....
As a very casual user, I can say that windows has intuitive solutions to issues that may arise. At least there are some things users can try by just using logic.
In Linux, solving issues requires you to type in the Romanian national anthem backwards, speperated by ; and the ocational “sudo” and “apt get”
I dropped both in November when they asked me to pay more than I do Netflix just to stop showing me ads (not even to stop tracking me!)
The amount of extra time that I gained overnight is scary. I’ve already read/listened to 10 books since and it’s been almost 20 years since I last finished a book!
In November Facebook started rolling out ad-free subscriptions. Before that you could set it to show ads that were not targeted. But after November this was no longer an option (in EU). You now have to accept targeted ads or pay for an ad-free subscription per account across Facebook and Instagram.
The link bellow is meta’s own description but they don’t mention that they no longer support untargeted ads like they used to
That’s just garbage talk. Sure we can enjoy life now and not consider the future of the planet but is your life more worth than the future of our own species? I find it deeply concerning that we as humans know what to do to not go extinct, buy don’t do it.
I don’t expect all human reproduction to just stop. But cutting down on the human population by either having no children or only one, would substantially reduce the load humans place on the planet and mayne even increase quality of life. Not to mention that it would improve the chances of other species to thrive.
Why the hell did that stop (lemmy.world)

Today marks 20 years since Georgia changed its flag! They got rid of a, IMO quite ugly, brown flag, replacing it with the much prettier red and white flag of the medieval Kingdom of Georgia. (files.catbox.moe)

What's some amazing technology they have in Japan that's very normal to them but would blow our minds here in the US and western world?

I went for a walk in the woods and found multiple fallen branches with this fairly long growth on them....
