How to cope with existing right now?

It feels like no matter where I turn some septuagenarian, or older, is making life miserable for myself and others. Usually these are older white Christian conservatives, obsessed with a delusional sense of reality that no longer has a basis in fact, or perhaps never did....

As much a love to bash the yanks, it’s not just them any more .

You could take any of the top 10 brands in European football, move the stadium anywhere in the world, and no one would notice but for a handful Of die hards.

If Man City moved to Dubai tomorrow, would that really surprise you ?

If Real Madrid moved to Florida , Liverpool to Beijing, ? Your left with 10,000 pissed off locals, but that’s nothing when you’re a global brand.

What’s the state of community sport in the US ?

In the UK we have the same mindless billions in Soccer, but there is still (just about) a good level of community sport, like semi pro and below, where you can watch for almost nothing then go the bar after the match and drink with the players.

You don’t get the same athleticism and artistry (from overtrained genetic freaks) But you still get brilliant entertainment, drama, fun moments with your tribe. Etc.

Community sports is where it’s at.

  1. Try to secure a firm schedule for your L2, and what conditions need to met-to achieve it, . Not because you are especially ambitious, just because you want to keep growing into your job.
  2. Demonstrate a wider interest in a) your department (what is the current state of tools, processes, what are the pain points) b) the wider company (how is the company performing, does your dept have a good reputation within it)
  3. Tell him you think you are in a good place to grow both technically and as a person and as long as that remains true, you are happy and loyal.

When you are running the place, don’t forget your friends 😉

Swapping land rovers for golf’s gets us practically nowhere

A street filled with VW Golfs instead of Land rovers, still afforded the vast majority of space in town, still given priority at every turn and still transporting one or two people at a time, doesn’t move us much further forwards .
