fl42v,

Contour currently, but might consider that new one by the cosmic team. Contour is a bit minimalistic like alacritty or foot, yet it ligatures (a weird dealbreaker of mine). Goes well with zellij (pretty neat stuff, if u ask me, although breaking sixel is unfortunate, but they’re working on it).

Used to use kitty and weztetm, the latter was overall less confusing (generally faster, no need to use quirks for ssh). And then wezterm broke on Wayland :D

fl42v,

Well, I guess I now have an incentive to order yet another t440p motherboard to bring mine back to life and go playing with it once again. Tnx for the info!

fl42v,

On a side note, t440p’s {core, libre}boot is not completely foss, they still use a proprietary blob for mrc (at least AFAIK). Yet it’s still way better than other options

fl42v,

Shouldn’t be gnu*linux or gnu-linux? Cuz as is they’re kinda the opposite operations

fl42v,

I’d rather use some sbc on rk3588, tho. It shouldn’t be too hard to pack one of SBCs with it into a laptop case given they often expose eDP (which laptop displays use) or mipi dsi (which is convertible to eDP, but I’m not sure here).

Otherwise, it’s good to have an option to run a proper os on such a low-spec machine. Windows on 4gb ram, eesh

fl42v, (edited )

If it can execute in ram (as far as I understand, they’ve been talking about fileless attacks, so… Possible?), it can just inject whatever

Addit: also, sucure boot on most systems, well, sucks, unless you remove m$ keys and flash yours, at least. The thing is, they signed shim and whatever was the alternative chainable bootloader (mako or smth?) effectively rendering the whole thing useless; also there was a grub binary distributed as part of some kaspersky’s livecd-s with unlocked config, so, yet again, load whatever tf you want

fl42v,

Shouldn’t be too complicated, tbh, since armbian folks did all the hard work 😁

fl42v,

Today I tried armbian… On a TV-box. At first everything was fine, then this bastard decided to install firefox as a snap; and also it died after update.

In other words, I’m installing nixos there next

fl42v,

They use dashes, which is more readable (“self-sufficient”, and similar stuff), although idk if that’s what you meant

fl42v,

I could say inability to edit a config file is worth reevaluating of what is a failed piece of garbage here… But it won’t be fair. If you don’t want to deal with configs, go ahead and use chromeos or something :P

Jokes aside, pop-os is great ootb.

fl42v,

Yeah, uhm… So, you know, modern cars also come with pre-installed spyware, just like our friend wondows but somewhat worse 😅

fl42v,

Technically, you can try, but I doubt it’ll work ootb even if the connectors are the same. It would be kinda easier to use smth like an arduino/rp2040 board and connect it to one if thr unpopulated USBs on the board (check if there’s a schematic available, they often leave stuff like ribbon cable connectors for, day, a smort card reader, which is basically USB but 3v3 power)

fl42v,

Hm, looks somewhat less painful to type. Otherwise, needs further investigation; tnx!

fl42v,

Python and matplotlib aren’t hard… Plus you get pandas, numpy, and so on. Alternatively, R studio does such stuff ootb, as far as I remember

Idk, excel always seemed unnecessarily limiting and complicated to me compared to proper programming languages. Although that may be because I was taught cpp before this crap.

Freebsd be like: where getopt

fl42v, (edited )

Some futuristic scifi-ish thing that is also a factory with a pocket dimension allowing you to easily morph/replicate it and pull previous versions from that pocket dimension if something went wrong… But the orders are given in some alien dialect, and from time to time you have to check how others have managed to convince it to do parts of the job you want and stitch together a solution while listening to it cursing at you cryptically

fl42v,

I’d mix everything just for kicks :)

fl42v,

Yeah, I have 701 (?) 2g surf somewhere. It was kinda fun to do programming in vim in tty, and waaay less fun to compile stuff…
