flashgnash,

Ah yes, phone cases I definitely use those

flashgnash,

I just buy durable phones, I very rarely drop them nowadays but if I do the worst that happens is a scratch or dent. Last two times I’ve broken a phone have been jumping in a pool forgetting it was in my pocket (usually buy waterproof for this reason) and falling on a rock with it in my pocket

First one no case would have prevented short of one of the ultra rugged outdoorsey ones, second one only the cases with the front cover flap thing might have stopped

Only time I’ve broken a phone by dropping it is when I had an iPhone 4 handmedown, I swear those things were designed to break

flashgnash,

You’re either really good at holding onto those things, or really good at losing/breaking phones

flashgnash,

I’m pretty sure I turned that off ~8-10 years ago and Google has just remembered it ever since

Also I use swipe typing so that probably helps too

flashgnash,

To be fair I don’t think the focus of Bethesda games has ever been on graphics

flashgnash,

I would imagine the performance hit comes more from the simulation complexity, afaik Bethesda games tend to simulate everything all the time so the bigger the worlds get the more power is required

flashgnash,

144hz in overwatch feels like putting glasses on for the first time, my brain can actually track movement properly

Most other games I barely notice the difference though

flashgnash,

See I don’t like people who impose vegetarianism and veganism but I really wish people would have more respect for dead animals.

Disgusting behaviour from some people

Linux on a 2in1 for Uni (lemmy.world)

Hello linix@lemmy, I got fixed on the idea of replacing my iPad with a 2in1 like the thibkpad X13 for uni since I use the keyboard with my iPad a lot. The only time I need to take handwritten notes is in chemistry, mathematics and to annotate PDFs. Does anyone here have experience with convertibles running Linux? What would be...

flashgnash,

Don’t get a Lenovo yoga they kinda suck

Not sure about the ThinkPad yogas, only used a non -thinkpad one but I’m sure someone will chime in

From what I hear, ironically enough the surface pros are pretty good for Linux

flashgnash,

Please don’t give them any ideas lol

flashgnash,

RAISIN COOKIES > CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

flashgnash,

I’ve just eaten a raisin cookie so I feel fantastic

flashgnash,

Raisin cookies > chocolate chip cookies

flashgnash,

Here, you can have one I have plenty 🍪

What's the difference between package manager and why are there so many?

Are they so different that it’s justified to have so many different distributions? So far I guess that different package manager are the reason that divides the linux community. One may be on KDE and one on GNOME but they can use each other’s packages but usually you are bound to one manager

flashgnash,

Oh no, there are 5 package managers out there and they’re all wildly different

I know! I’ll make a standard, universal package manager that’ll be better than all the others that everyone will use!

There are now 6 different package managers

flashgnash,

Or alternatively don’t put pants on but still get stuff done

flashgnash,

I don’t know whether to be disappointed in the joke or myself for getting it

flashgnash,

Kodi is kinda klunky and old fashioned imo

flashgnash,

“I am a human.”

Are you sure you’re not zuckerberg in disguise though?

flashgnash,

It sucks when forced on you by Microsoft but when the suffering is entirely self inflicted it’s way more fun

flashgnash,

The constant is humans. Stupidity, greed, selfishness, stubbornness, etc

Also creativity, kindness, in most some amount of concern for fellow humans Think our society punishes a lot of those good qualities though
