Ways to pirate music as convenient as Spotify?

The reason I gave up on MP3’s and subscribed to Spotify was because Spotify was easy. I’ve been listening “Iron Maiden - Empire of the Clouds” song every day and like a week ago, its removed. This was the last straw for me. Right now I’m trying to find “Stremio” of the music world. Can someone assist?...

This person gave up on pirating MP3s because it was too complicated and the top suggestion is to start a homeserver. LOL you guys are woefully out of touch.

Wow. I never would have guessed that people would be upset that they couldn’t watch ads.

That’s because it’s built on top of uBlock. If you click on the extension it even has the uBlock logo. It’s literally just uBlock except it clicks on ads in the background. It even tells you how much projected money you cost them for clicking their shitty ads. And the websites gets paid. Only the advertisers get shafted.

Honestly I’m astonished it’s not more popular.

PiHole just blocks the DNS. Facebook serves ads from their own DNS so it’s not possible to block them in that way. Same with YouTube, I believe.

But if they click it, it usually ports you through a tracker link so they can track your clicks, and that’s easy enough to block.

I don’t think so, it can only click the ads you’re served, which you don’t control.

Yes but Google banned them from the extension store so if you’re using Chromium you need to sideload it.

Oh I thought you meant the ads. No, you can definitely whitelist your favorite sites.

I am pouring one out to this little champ. Stripping HDCP and letting me... archive streaming services from 2016-2023 RIP (lemmy.world)

What killed it, well after reviewing some PS4 gameplay I noticed that it was having audio issues, like it would allow some sounds but not all. It was almost as if it was receiving a 5.1 audio output but was missing the centre channel. Even though the PS4 was set to stereo....

Biggest evidence of that is Epic will give away games for free, but there will be people who prefer to pay for the Steam version over the free version.

Ehhh as much as I’d like to think that’s true, I think that has more to do with managing a bunch of clients and launchers. And also that those clients and launchers are full of spyware and bloatware and ads.

I used to not buy anything on Epic but then I got Heroic Launcher and now I’m not so terribly opposed to it. I have the Steam launcher and then I have HGL for Epic, GOG, and Amazon.

I’m convinced it has something to do with appeasing ignorant investors.

I meant investors of the media publishers, not the creators of the DRM.

Publishers certainly know it doesn’t work but their investors probably demand that they “do something”.

Piracy is Preservation (feddit.de)

Image description: a screenshot from the Wikipedia page for the Doctor Who TV series, with a user-added caption that reads “Preserve the media you can before it’s gone forever.” The Wikipedia article reads, “No 1960s episodes exist on their original videotapes (all surviving prints being film transfers), though some were...

Sorry to be that guy but if the tapes were never preserved it’s probably because nobody cared…

Yeah that’s kinda my point

It’s 8 o’clock and this website has no dark mode. No thanks.

helenslunch,
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

Well there’s a very realistic 3rd option where people get tired of the cat and mouse game and either suck it up and watch the ads or pony up for YouTube premium…?

helenslunch,
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

ReVanced is not a modded YouTube app. None of these are.

Hey clueless_stoner, I was referring to the link that this post goes to.

I mean there are a myriad of ways to avoid this:

  1. Log out
  2. Use container tabs or profiles in your favorite browser
  3. Use dedicated apps like FreeTube, GrayJay, NewPipe, Invidious, LibreTube, etc. that don’t even ask for a login.

So is there an easy way to migrate all your stuff to some other email service and what are some good ones?

So you can set up a free Proton Mail account and then connect it to your Google account and it will begin archiving all of your emails, past and future. It also has a way better web client than Gmail (not saying much).

It’s an unfortunate arbitrary limitation Apple puts on their devices.

helenslunch,
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

Proton indexes your mail also now and I’ve had the exact opposite experience. Gmail and G Workspace in general is a fucking shitshow to find absolutely anything.

I’m 36 and had internet porn since before I got puberty.

But yeah, I agree. I skip sex scenes now. I don’t feel like they add anything. Like you can just cut out all the nude backs and moaning and nothing of value would be lost. We get it, they had sex, move on.

I usually put all the afterburner tech specs up and mess with the settings for the first 10 minutes or so while I get it running at its best. Then I turn them off.
