I never thought of that but yeah. I started watching shortly before ChatGPT exploded. The videos are really uninteresting after a while. It’s basically all just reaction videos but worse.

jol,

She’s always been a weird nerdy lady, but endearing. Her videos were never professional, a bit tacky, but very informative. But I too dropped her channel because she started talking about nonsense she had no business giving opinions about.

jol, (edited )

Ah yes, I also find some of his videos are totally incorrect. The humans need not apply one, as a public transit and cycling nerd, fails so hard to miss the point that we need less cars, not more and “smarter”.

jol,

Cortex is basically a yearly cycle of talking about iPhone releases, WWDC, yearly themes. I still enjoy it but the main topic of productivity is mostly lost at this point.

jol,

TIL some people don’t have their phones permanently on mute.

jol,

I’ve seen them do that in porn. But you have to be already extremely relaxed for that.

jol,

I mean yeah, naturally. And with a good lube too. But people that do this are the ones already prepared for fisting or harder.

jol,

I rather they restrict alcohol and make marijuana legal.

jol,

I would be OK if the guy that made Stardew Valley became a billionaire.

jol,

Whenever people say that 2 degrees global average temperature increase is no big deal, I usually remind them that 2 degrees is the difference from regular body temp and being incapacitated in bed.

jol,

Planting 20 million trees wouldn’t have much of an effect on the climate. Definitely not for the next 10 years.

jol,

Each generation does something to spite the previous. Gen Z reads the papers ironically.

jol,

I didn’t say its a bad thing. It’s just a constant across generations.

jol,

Yup. I used FOSS apps whenever possible and have contributed to several in the past, both with code and tips. I don’t mind having way less “features” as long as the core functionality is there.

jol,

Yes, you are totally right. The specific thing we have lost is the right to buy a specific version of an app and forgo future updates.

jol, (edited )

Specially in mobile, if you don’t update your app yearly, it will probably be removed from the store soon. Google and Apple can randomly Review your app and decide that it failed review even if it passed in the past. And fixing it to pass review is often not trivial and can take weeks of work.

Also, with each new version of Android and iOS, your app can stop working or become outdated. The platform API changes frequently.

Finally, if you use any third party libraries in your app, vulnerabilities might be found in the that you’ll want to have patched ASAP.

Oh and of course, you need to pay 99$ a year for Appstore access.

jol,

This must be the most misused meme ever.

jol,

You need a kid for that. Just go to the kindergarten and pretend one of the kids is yours.

jol,

Life is on tracks, but you missed the train.

jol,

You’ll have to somehow launder that crypto first.

jol,

Worse. All games used to let you create your own servers to play with friends. That’s basically gone.
