kattenluik,

DuckDuckGo has recently become a not very useful search engine too, it still has way way better queries than Google though.

Going back usually shuffles the search results and after like 5 results there’s just a bunch of random entries based on your geolocation.

kattenluik,

Someone else already made this exact comment with someone already explaining how and why.

kattenluik,

I don’t blame them, ever walked when it was dark out? Headlights are blinding and I’d freeze too.

kattenluik,

For some movies it’s literally cheaper to buy a physical copy online and get it shipped to you, than buying a short license on a random platform.

kattenluik,

Not everything needs to be about making money, just reminding you that that’s pretty vile.

Where to turn to if I need books that are paywalled behind overly expensive academic portals?

I need some books paywalled behind Oxford Politics Trove and they aren’t on Anna’s lib, Zlib, Libgen, Memory of the World, Aaarg, or the Internet Archive. Not sure to whom else to turn to. I hate that knowledge like this is paywalled, and I highly doubt the authors will be paid if I pay the highway robbery of a price.

kattenluik,

Because there’s people on it like any other platform?

kattenluik,

CPU AIO’s are awesome, all the benefits of water cooling with none of the hassle.

kattenluik,

I’ve used and come back to Arch for nearly 8 years now and Manjaro has always been a broken distribution and genuinely gives Arch a bad rep.

Arch has always been a very stable daily driver for me, never breaking and never having issues with it. I’m always confused on what people are doing when they have issues with their entire distro breaking, especially since you pick all your packages and such anyways.

kattenluik,

Then why should we care that you had one?

kattenluik,

Found the person who doesn’t believe in change or will only talk about how it doesn’t apply to rural America!

kattenluik,

That makes sense! I’m currently in the US and have only seen Gouda once and it tasted nothing like it, in the Netherlands there’s also many varieties of Gouda that all taste very different.

It’s very strange seeing Dutch products on the shelves here.

kattenluik,

Patatje oorlog, patatje joppie, spekkedikken and frikandelsaus. There’s a lot of things!

kattenluik,

In the US or what? Never seen that before.

kattenluik,

You should try using paru, might be better off with it.

kattenluik,

Raspberry pi’s are never worth it compared to most other things.

kattenluik, (edited )

I’ll repeat to you once again that this isn’t an argument and especially not about what matters or not, as I’ve never stated no other country matters. I’ve even lived in a country where “RadioShack” operated, but once again RadioShack as a name is American which is shown in your own link.

I haven’t called you wrong or have said that one country matters more than the other, all I’ve said is that drywall is a silly argument in a case like this especially since it didn’t have anything to do with the wall in the first place.

I do agree my first reply is a bit foul, but I’ve just been kind of sad about comments and posts that don’t specify country.

kattenluik, (edited )

I’ve never said it wasn’t used in Europe, just that I haven’t seen it. Where I’m from we quite literally just call it Gypsum, you need to read what I’m literally saying and not derive off of it.

Copper wire can be found in excess in a lot of access panels and such, like the other commenter said.

kattenluik,

No, I’m just pointing out that using drywall as an argument is a bit silly and that RadioShack is a primarily American thing.

kattenluik,

I’ve never seen drywall used anywhere in Europe, and of course Radio Shack and such are also only American.

kattenluik,

They’re also assuming American houses because nowhere else exists.

kattenluik,

You’re missing a few keywords I used, like “primarily”.

And no, it’s not based on what I’ve seen.

kattenluik,

Drywall is an American thing because it is only popular there, in other countries it is reserved for certain cheaper constructions and quite rare.

Radio Shack as the name wasn’t a thing in Europe, Tandy and others were.
