No one except everyone who wants their pasta to taste good. You need to add a ton of salt because most of it is going down the drain at the end.

Edit: ok, I stand corrected.

237 mL. It’s a US unit.

Edit: I just realized I have a 2-cup measuring cup and I’ve never noticed how weird that sounds until now.

lolcatnip,

Gosh, why would anyone think Israel is bad?

lolcatnip,

The issue isn’t whether anyone is surprised by it.

lolcatnip,

while trying to minimize civilian deaths

If that’s what they’re trying to do, they really fucking suck at it.

And the motivation, methods, intentions, and circumstances don’t matter a bit to the victims and their loved ones.

lolcatnip,

Who’s “they”, exactly? Certainly not the average Israeli or Palestinian.

lolcatnip,

Everyone with two neurons to rub together knows their “notice” is nothing more than a fig leaf. They know it’s impossible for more of the people there to actually evacuate.

lolcatnip,

“They” meaning the civilians being killed?

lolcatnip,

No more than you want to spin everything as “Israel good”.

lolcatnip,

A femail man!

lolcatnip,

Another funny detail I’ve heard: the Old English word for a male person was something like “were”, as in “werewolf”.

lolcatnip,

The “ads” they’re talking about are the ones placed directly in the video by the creators themselves. YouTube doesn’t control those and no ad blocker can get rid of them. To do that you’d need a vastly more sophisticated kind of ad blocker that actually watches the video and understands the content enough to decide what part of it is a sponsored message. We may be getting close to having that kind of technology but it would take a pretty big step up from something like CharGPT.

lolcatnip,

Who’s that dude and why is he standing next to a William Gibson quote?

lolcatnip,

As far as I know, Brexit was caused more by Brits not liking economic policies of the European Union, though I am not that knowledgeable about UK politics.

I’m not that knowledgeable, being an American, but my understanding is that Brexit was mainly the result of racism, and of English people falling for easily disproven lies about the economic impact of EU membership. I’d like to think that what I lack in direct experience of British politics, I make up for with direct experience of the exact same bullshit in American politics.

lolcatnip,

Yeah. I’m 44 and in terrible shape (in terms of exercise, etc.), but even so, I’m a long way from “everything hurts”.

lolcatnip,

If it’s opposite day, doesn’t that mean it’s not opposite day?

lolcatnip,

Go fuck a cactus. I hate civilian deaths but that doesn’t change what the word opinion means.

lolcatnip,

The definition of what an opinion is is not an opinion.

lolcatnip,

No, it’s not. Facts are statements about what is. Statements about what should be—which is what moral statements are—are always opinions.

I can’t fucking believe I’m arguing with people who literally don’t know what the word opinion means. It’s not rocket science.
