lolcatnip,

Sounds like the NPR model of funding. Even if you can get everything else to work, you still have a couple of weeks every year when you can’t go anywhere without having to stop and listen to Nina Totenberg lecture you 20 minutes about how important it is for everyone to pitch in as much as they can afford.

lolcatnip,

Michael, with the printer and a baseball bat.

lolcatnip,

“Neoliberal” is much more specific than “capitalist”.

lolcatnip,

To me it’s MacOS that feels weird.

lolcatnip,

I live with four other people. The two of us over 40 use Android and the others use iOS.

lolcatnip,

If you’re compiling something huge like Chrome, having a separate compilation stage for the build files makes sense. For a normal sized project it’s overkill.

lolcatnip,

Easier said than done if you ever want to eat out. So I just tip and grumble about it.

lolcatnip,

I’ve seen dedicated Christmas stores before, and you’re ignoring how every store becomes a Christmas store after Thanksgiving.

lolcatnip,

It’s just alcohol spiked with acetaminophen.

lolcatnip,

I wonder how likely it is that aquatic alien animals would have a taste or scent we’d think of as fishy.

lolcatnip,

People aren’t good for bad because of their ethnicity or religion. They’re good or bad because of the choices they make. A Republican is someone who has chosen to support the Republican party. That’s such an absolutely vile choice to make that I have no problem with condemning everyone who makes it.

lolcatnip,

Yes but it’s far cheaper to take a regular vacation.

lolcatnip,

Who orders “dark” coffee and not “black” coffee?

lolcatnip,

Moving goalposts is a concept that applies to debates. Choosing an operating system shouldn’t be a debate. It’s a personal choice, or sometimes a professional choice. Convincing people who don’t want to be convinced shouldn’t be anyone’s goal.

lolcatnip,

They don’t have sleeping quarters. Being able to house the crew is the bare minimum I expect from something canned a ship.

lolcatnip,

Ooh, name calling! Based on a willful misinterpretation of what they said, too. A sure sign of a solid argument!

lolcatnip, (edited )

They’re not supporting him because they’re worried about his finances. They’re supporting him because they have faith in his leadership. If they didn’t, they wouldn’t care. Lots of CEOs are just empty suits, but Altman clearly has been doing something his workers liked.

can I be a Free Software advocate but still use non-free software??

I’m asking this because one time, while browsing the GNU website, I noticed that some of the members’ emails had “gmail” on them!! And I asked myself how would that be possible?? And I think other members of the FSF had Gmail too. Why? Richard Stallman is against Gmail, so why would those memberse use it?? Would that...

lolcatnip,

Free Software isn’t a religion. Or at least it shouldn’t be.

lolcatnip,

I can think Elon Musk is a shitter, more racist version of Lex Luthor at the same time I think Israel is run by bloodthirsty monsters.
