mosiacmango,

Maybe 100,000+ children taken and sold for “a year’s salary” over the course of 50 years.

Absolutely insane.

Have the wifi version of that mobo. No issues with suspend with either ubuntu or Pop-OS. Using an nvme as primary.

Might honestly be arch.

There are add on “foot handles” that sort this out, but they are pretty uncommon.

mosiacmango,

He just made it uninhabitable by humans. Not exactly the same as wiping it out, but since it forced displacement of a whole planet, it was genocide.

I think this is why they are taking it slow.

After the ACA had such a bad start, the obama admin actually opened up "innovation" departments to invite technical experts to modernize goverment infastructure. Those teams have likely done a lot over the decade or so to prevent haphazard rollouts.

EDIT: looks like they work under the title of the “US digital corps” banner and are looking for people.

One of Musks pitches for selling the car at 40k was that bending the steel panels is cheaper then making curved and painted ones.

Of course, the cars lowest trim is 60k because Musk is a liar, but that was part of the hype he was selling.

You know what’s even better than milking it for 6hrs of OT? Saying its “to hard” to the victim, going home and then lying about doing 6hrs of OT and getting paid anyway.

Cops lie about OT systemically. Its absolutely rampant. The only consequence they ever get is either a few hrs suspension without pay or fired, and most states are happy to hire them next door immediately so they can do it again.

O’Brien constantly breaking good cardassian engineering with infernal federation secondary backups.

Everyone wants to dance with the pretty girl at the party.

mosiacmango, (edited )

Yeah it’s got deadbedroom vibes, which is sad.

Hes excited by the gift that reflects something in their relationship, but it looks like a relationship killer. Her calling him “sweetie” and touching him lightly implies it isnt a break up, so it must just be the end of their sex life.

Amazing how much emotion you can convey with no expressions.

mosiacmango,

Aint no coffee here, Janeway the destroyer. Get out of here! Get!

Weather protection comes with a good jacket you can buy with the money you dont spend on cars.

I rode in all weather for years. Rain or shine, you really do get used to it.

They host incredibly tiny text files. We are talking in the single KB range. Even serving millions of these a day is minor load to current hosting environments.

Most modern webpages load the equivalent of 1000s of subtitles to every user on every page load, including small sites like personal blogs.

I would be surprised if their hosting costs were even in the $1000s/month instead of $100s.

Thats the likely reason they don’t share the costs. It’s that cheap to run. Even asking for donations might be pushing it. Demanding payment? Bullshit.

mosiacmango, (edited )

They just need a paid account and they can keep appending to it.

"Open"subtitles has like a 1k dowload/day limit, which should cover most media.

Star trek opening credits were always these expansive, gorgeous classical pieces. Highly aspirational, with intense, driving music but very grandiose. Much like the show itself, with its themes of exploration, discovery and compassion.

This was the case for the first 4 star trek shows, but when the 5th show Enterprise premiered, a show about the federation leading up to the original series timeline, its intro was a country pop power ballad. Think “I love my blue jeans, I love my truck, l love my beer and America” style.

Its still inspirational and driving, but it was a wild departure from the more cerebral intros that came before it.

People have…feelings about it.

Strong points that I agree with, but Q’s temptations are also pretty weak when you remember holodecks exist.

Q keeps throwing “imaginary” women at Worf and Riker thinking that they can’t go to the holodeck and load up any number of “Barkley’s Follies” or “Beverly’s ghosts with the most” programs.

Sure makes dealing with a trickster god that will ruin you less appealing.

mosiacmango,

Apprently, after voyager returned, the slang term “Kimming” became common for getting your first pip.

If you were passed over for promotion, it was called “getting Harry’ed.”

Fun fact : Harry Kim is the most “Harry Kimmed” officer in starfleet history.

mosiacmango,

First past the post doing what it does.

Still worth pulling the “less evil” lever for, you know, less evil.

mosiacmango,

Based on rule 34, I’m betting there are a lot of Risan’s that would be doing more than cheering for a naked Worf.

mosiacmango,

Normally Gary the dildo is in every comic, generally hidden.

Hes a bit easier to find in this one.

mosiacmango,

Seriously. A dude grinding wood on stone or epoxy isn’t going to hurt it much, and it certainly seems like he intends to keep it in good repair.

Id say its a feel good comic regardless of the punchline.

mosiacmango,

Did you pay to rent pads today to nit break your shit? Well they aren’t in the truck, so all well. Sure we will take that off your bill wink wink.

Enjoy arguing with us for the money we said we would refund after doing a crazy stressful move!
