Is there an open source package that the Internet Archive runs? What is it? I assume sites like archive.is run the same. I’d like to know if I can also run it for self-hosted archiving.
Residents of 12 states are eligible to participate if they meet certain criteria. But the agency’s plans have already met resistance from tax preparation companies.
After the ACA had such a bad start, the obama admin actually opened up "innovation" departments to invite technical experts to modernize goverment infastructure. Those teams have likely done a lot over the decade or so to prevent haphazard rollouts.
EDIT: looks like they work under the title of the “US digital corps” banner and are looking for people.
You know what’s even better than milking it for 6hrs of OT? Saying its “to hard” to the victim, going home and then lying about doing 6hrs of OT and getting paid anyway.
Cops lie about OT systemically. Its absolutely rampant. The only consequence they ever get is either a few hrs suspension without pay or fired, and most states are happy to hire them next door immediately so they can do it again.
Hes excited by the gift that reflects something in their relationship, but it looks like a relationship killer. Her calling him “sweetie” and touching him lightly implies it isnt a break up, so it must just be the end of their sex life.
Amazing how much emotion you can convey with no expressions.
They host incredibly tiny text files. We are talking in the single KB range. Even serving millions of these a day is minor load to current hosting environments.
Most modern webpages load the equivalent of 1000s of subtitles to every user on every page load, including small sites like personal blogs.
I would be surprised if their hosting costs were even in the $1000s/month instead of $100s.
Thats the likely reason they don’t share the costs. It’s that cheap to run. Even asking for donations might be pushing it. Demanding payment? Bullshit.
Star trek opening credits were always these expansive, gorgeous classical pieces. Highly aspirational, with intense, driving music but very grandiose. Much like the show itself, with its themes of exploration, discovery and compassion.
This was the case for the first 4 star trek shows, but when the 5th show Enterprise premiered, a show about the federation leading up to the original series timeline, its intro was a country pop power ballad. Think “I love my blue jeans, I love my truck, l love my beer and America” style.
Its still inspirational and driving, but it was a wild departure from the more cerebral intros that came before it.
Strong points that I agree with, but Q’s temptations are also pretty weak when you remember holodecks exist.
Q keeps throwing “imaginary” women at Worf and Riker thinking that they can’t go to the holodeck and load up any number of “Barkley’s Follies” or “Beverly’s ghosts with the most” programs.
Sure makes dealing with a trickster god that will ruin you less appealing.
