nxdefiant,

Counterpoint, Ubuntu is popular because it usually has what you need. For home stuff especially the limiting factor is usually time, not processing power.

nxdefiant,

Sisko went from unsure to sure real quick. Ex freedom fighter gunslinger lady was day dreaming.

nxdefiant,

Voyager does a few times. The Enterprise D did…once.

There are some alternate timeline shenanigans I will not speak of here.

nxdefiant,

If you have a choice to start from scratch, TOML is probably the better option.

nxdefiant, (edited )

I consider The Orville a show that is filmed inside the Trek Universe for people in the federation to watch for fun.

  • nxdefiant,

your meme is bad and you should feel bad.

At least give him the dark Brandon laser eyes.

    nxdefiant,

That’s not how memes work. Not even a little bit

    nxdefiant, (edited )

    Nog: 😃

    Sisko: Not you.

    (pre Worthwhile)

Star trek doesn’t really have a working class though, they achieved Marx’s earlier hypothesised state of the deprecation of manual labor (in the technical sense). Interestingly, most of the philosophy is around how to get to Star Trek, where Star Trek itself is kind of the biggest thought experiment we have for what we would do once we’re there.

Marx later evolved to believe only a revolution would destroy capitalism, and that’s what Mao focused on, the getting there. Through violence.

Mao took that to heart, and succeeded, despite his best efforts, in ultimately setting the stage for a China that’s more capitalist than it’s ever been.

That’s kind of the magic of star trek. Theres a violent past, a billion deaths, and it isn’t a new political system or a different economy that changes everything, it was a newfound hope that things could be better if people were better, and they worked together to make that happen.

I think younger Marx would have loved Star Trek. I’m not sure about older Marx or Mao.

    nxdefiant,

He’s only 37 years old in that picture.

Now imagine what it was like for the guy who took over his old job in New York on that day.

    nxdefiant,

The weird part was it was a 5 second search and that’s the first one that came up.

    nxdefiant,

I’ve always interpreted that movie as the exact opposite. Here’s what happens if you replace natural selection with corporate interest. The guy who time traveled was not a genius in his time.

    nxdefiant, (edited )

Also that guy should drink some water, he’s definitely dehydrated. Maybe he didn’t elaborate because he passed out.

    nxdefiant,

it’s not normal to stress out about trek memes.

    On ketrecel white it is.

    nxdefiant,

Hey he directed it, he didn’t write it.

    nxdefiant,

canonical answer? Vanity is practically a genetic trait of the Soongs.

    nxdefiant,

    static.wikia.nocookie.net/memoryalpha/…/720?cb=20…

Yeah, that couch can absolutely be a bed, and I bet the other side folds out into a toilet. Entire back area is probably a sonic shower.

    nxdefiant,

If you’re using an active thunderbolt cable, you wire has proprietary code in it.

    nxdefiant,

    Tape over the read only hole and reuse it: H A C K E R M A N

    nxdefiant,

Maybe for the regions that only speak one language. East Texas alone mixes English, Spanish, French and German dialects. It’s like a sitcom of bad accents down there.

    nxdefiant,

America should be Eevee, because there are so many opportunities for variation.

    nxdefiant,

From what I can tell there’s 30-40 each and about 160 world wide. Crazy!
