otp,

Will do, thanks. Did lots of thorough checks when I got it, so I didn’t expect there to be any issues now.

otp,

Yeah, interesting. I’ll see if I can record it tomorrow!

otp,

I’m actually surprised this is in uplifting news, unless outlawing meat consumption at all and enforcing veganism is uplifting. Which it might be to some people, but I like eating meat.

I’m eagerly awaiting lab-grown meat to become cheaper than slaughtered meat, though!

otp,

If this is your first, what do you think your next will be for?

otp,

Especially in an app rather than a mobile browser.

otp,

OP is talking about apps that are basically links to websites.

They design the website entirely, but it’s not available through a web browser – only the app. But fundamentally, it’s a website that a browser would be able to run.

otp,

Yup. And to complement this, gotta love when people react to the side effects of water!

otp,

Some people actually use social media to learn or practice another language, so some may appreciate the tip and the correction.

As well, it just looks better when content is written properly. If the questions here were all stuff like “how is babby formed wen women is pragnant”, it wouldn’t seem like the kind of community made for people who are genuinely trying to find answers to their questions.

otp,

I’m not sure which quotation marks specifically you’re referring to, but in newspapers, they’re used to indicate exact quotes. They’re not used the way they usually are on the internet, such as to indicate sarcasm or “alternate word choices”.

otp,

A lot of Disney throwing its weight around as people accidentally overstep the bounds of copyright, trademark and other legal stuff like that.

Not saying Disney would be in the right. But Disney is bonkers for this kind of stuff, and they’ve got ridiculous amounts of money to spend in court.

otp,

They have their uses. In the Canadian version of r/BuildAPCsale or whatever it’s called, it’s great – get the information about the sale and a link to the product.

In r/relationships, and the entire post and discussion are about OP’s problem, they’re completely useless.

I'm looking for a privacy respecting vacuum robot

I’m looking for a vacuum robot preferably under 500€ and with a cleaning station. My main concern is that most robot vacuum providers seem to need to be connected to the internet. Are there any providers that either don’t need that, where I can block the internet connection or any other way not getting a spy in my home?...

otp,

OTOH, “I’d like a TB that doesn’t show me its own ads” would’ve been perfectly predictable.

People were predicting it as soon as devices other than computers started connecting to the internet. Maybe even before that.

otp,

Lifetime sales? And as a notable book, probably one that was gifted often or bought to “decorate” shelves.

Maybe people used to read the book, but it feels like the people saying “Literally 1984” haven’t read the book, they just know that it’s how the world would be if [insert political party here] had their way in the government for too many years, which is a bad thing.

(And yes, of course the world being like 1984 would be bad, but I think that’s the limit of a lot of people’s understanding of the book, lol)

otp,

Yeah, this is not the best question because you’ll get very different answers from different parts of the world, or even different parts of the US.

I graduated more than a decade ago, and there was a lot more nuance than what you described. They taught us about different types of drugs and what their real effects were. I remember learning in high school that marijuana is less dangerous than cigarettes and alcohol.

In elementary school for me, there were big anti-smoking campaigns, but nothing about alcohol or harder drugs. The “just say no” was about peer pressure and doing anything you felt uncomfortable doing (including inappropriate touching).

If you have Animal Crossing New Horizons for the Switch, you can celebrate with your animal villagers

otp,

Your username is a fairly common noun and an incredibly common, er, auxiliary verb?

They can’t do anything with it by sticking it into Google!

otp,

To be fair, a decent share of the AAA games are also barely functioning buggy crap on launch…

otp,

They have admitted when they were wrong in the past.

All the previous presidents were characters in South Park. Clinton, Bush, Obama…all represented as themselves.

Trump is represented by the most racist character in South Park who is otherwise famous for being fucked up gay trans trans and lesbian transtrans and gay whatever the heck he is now.

It just sort of happened that way, but there hasn’t been a precedent for this.

I don’t know if they’re still doing the “both sides” thing, but they might’ve stopped at some point.

Not that they won’t make fun of people on the political left, but they might have gotten over the political fence sitting.

otp,

I had an XCover 4 and hated the specs and the Samsung aspect. Too much bloat for my tastes.

I’m glad there are others still buying these phones though, and the “Pro” makes it sound like it has modern specs!

otp,

How’s the Samsung bloatware on it?

otp,

I’m still waiting for your Rudolph moment here.

Tell us how you’ll guide the sleigh tonight!

otp,

Yes, and the source code wouldn’t have the assets. So the previous comment holds up – 4.3gb or whatever seems pretty big, no?

otp,

No doubt. I just couldn’t imagine that much space being taken up by what would effectively be text
