There was a waterblock was under NDA too… until he auctioned it off for profit and told them to pound sand.

Always downvote LTT now. Went from one of my favorite tech reviewers to the bottom.

I’ve thought that too. If they made a tiny truck, like an old style 90s ranger or tacoma but as an EV? I’d buy that tomorrow. Literally tomorrow I’d go buy it. But of course they don’t, they’re all these monstrously sized bohemoths that I have no interest in driving.

Until they make my dream tiny truck I’ll just go rent one.

I was trying to describe to my MIL (who hasn’t seen the Hobbit movies) how they were bad. I ended up with

Do you remember the barrel scene in the Hobbit? How would you describe it?

“It’s kind of where Bilbo really felt his confidence, where he tried the ring for the first time and rescued the dwarves, and they snuck out down the river to the city”

Great great, and do you remember the battalion of orcs trying to kill them while they went downstream with Legolas and Tauriel doing sweet kick flips over them, while Bombur bounced around jokingly killing a dozen of them, and then Fili having a moment of weakness for his elf princess love while he opened the gate and then he gets shot with a poisoned arrow?

…no

Well there you go.

They took one of the most endearing moments of the book and made it a joke. No, they cannot recreate the Lord of the Rings. Even if you don’t like PJ’s version, there’s just no way modern Hollywood can do to improve on it.

If you are republican you believe in cutting social safety nets, pro war, anti gun regulation, and anti lgbtq. I view all of those as “bad people traits”. I don’t think anyone who can say they are for gutting welfare can also say they are a good person at heart.

My wife likes to joke when I’m in an anxiety spiral by saying “okay well on the off chance that society doesn’t crumble maybe you should plan for the future”. For some reason that always makes me laugh. If it does it does, but it’s probably best to have a plan still.

And reasonable budgeting can let you enjoy the now while also planning for the future

scrubbles, to fuck_cars in Truck bloat is killing us, new crash data reveals
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

What? Are you suggesting I drive a smaller truck just to help other people? Are you saying I crash into people? I need that giant truck! Do you know how much I haul and tow every day?! I mean, I don’t, I commute back and forth to work every day in it, but I need to do that. My coworkers see that truck next to their cars and think “Damn, that guy drives a Truck”. Maybe if they see how big of a truck I drive it’ll make up for the crippling social anxiety I have that I just keep pushing further and further down, maybe it’ll make up for not getting that promotion I worked for. Now they’ll have to notice me. So no, you aren’t taking away my F350 Mega Macho Man-Manliness Super Truck. How else will people know I’m a man?

Which is why we call them ESTs. Emotional Support Trucks.

So far I’ve played 4 hours and I just think there’s a hate train on it. I have a 3000 series card and took the recommended steps from paradox and the game plays fine, I’m enjoying it. From what I understand VRAM is the choke point, so if you don’t have a ton then maybe hold off

Tail as old as time. I remember living in Iowa through several of the last “threats”. Midwesterners stocked up thinking they were going to be the first in the nation. Yes Fred, I’m sure the order is going to go New York, LA, Lake Okiboji in Iowa, Chicago.

Keep them afraid, keeps them obedient.

I’ve been worried about the same. I’m slowly moving my email and all accounts over my own domain name which for now is forwarded onto the same Gmail. Seems like an extra hop but if they block me then all I have to do is point my email somewhere else

scrubbles, to asklemmy in Lemmy, is there a treasured piece of content that you stop yourself from going back to "too often" so as to not dilute it?
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

Most comedy specials, the George Carlin post today reminded me of that. If you listen too frequently they’ll lose their punch, and you’ll stop listening to what they’re saying. Every few years I’ll listen to him (and a few other comedians) and it reminds me of everything

scrubbles, to asklemmy in What's with the corporate obsession with customer feedback?
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

It’s all that BS corpo jargon. “Give 110%”, “Do better than your best”. Right, but we’re human beings, no one can be perfect all the time. They don’t care, they have you boiled down to a number.

I did retail for 10 years and I’m damn happy to be done with it. Every time I get a survey though I know in my head what corporate is doing to these people, and I try my damnest to let people know how to actually let their voices be heard.

Leave product reviews, reviews on Google, social media, hell talk to the media, those will all reflect the product itself. But those reviews they send you, those are for human beings just trying to scrape by.

scrubbles, (edited ) to memes in In Germany we say "Arbeitnehmerrechte" and I think that's beautiful
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

Sorry man, but no, granted that’s my personal anecdotal experience.

That doesn’t mean there weren’t people who were complete assholes at all levels, but generally speaking the most entitled people were the ones who didn’t deserve to be. I guess I could clarify that people who wanted to act like they were happy with life were the worst, most entitled people I came across. The people who either did actually hold status or didn’t care if they did were more tolerable.

I won’t pretend to be an expert and understand. The only things I’ve thought over the years were either 1) They needed to feel more important than someone, and service workers are a good scapegoat there or the more unfortunate one 2) There are just more points of contention. Someone doing well won’t react as badly to their laptop being fried compared to someone who isn’t doing well - they have different impacts on the people. That one is more important, but I don’t think that excuses the pure abuse that was hurled at me either.
