It’s nice to meet all you. I am she/her, can speak Toki Pona and English (non-natively), and locatable on Reddit as MozartWasARed. The links at discord.gg/sEuSSDz6TQ and deviantart.com/…/My-copyright-policy-and-the-impa… are pertinent to me.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

It’s quite dirty for that right now, don’t you think?

Unless it’s secretly Opposite Day and I’m reading this post wrong.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

Would it be cheating if I chose Nero Caesar since he technically was a musician and would perform in the colosseums under threat of death?

What was your most awkward moment of the last year?

last time i got a haircut the barber lady was quite cute and chatty and in the middle of the haircut, this obnoxious song came on the radio over the PA whose lyrics were quite literally i’m falling in love with a stranger repeated 50 times, crystal clear, little instrumental backing even. and of course she could feel my...

shinigamiookamiryuu,

Someone in a gathering called for a moment of silence for the victims of the Canadian wildfires, and suddenly, in the silence, all people can hear is the Little Inferno theme song quietly playing on my closed ipad.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

By initiating massive drilling projects in order to roboform the Earth into its own spaceship so that we can travel to other star systems, dragging us all on an adventure nobody asked for.

Is there an artist so horrible that no matter how hard you try that you cannot separate their art from them?

Similar to the recent question about artists where you can successfully separate them from their art. Are there any artists who did something so horrible, so despicable, that it has instantly invalidated all art that they have had any part in?

shinigamiookamiryuu,

I wouldn’t say the horribleness of a person is ever something that makes someone inseparable from their art. The art and the person just don’t necessitate each other. That said, I’m pretty sure someone might make a case for Nero, he burnt people on living candles and called it “art” and would lock people in concerts to hear him perform (if we assume the historical records are true). Relatedly, Saddam Hussein wrote a lot of fanfiction about defeating America with negative undertones that would make a Wattpad writer cringe.

What is Something Scientific that you just don't believe in at all?

EDIT: Let’s cool it with the downvotes, dudes. We’re not out to cut funding to your black hole detection chamber or revoke the degrees of chiropractors just because a couple of us don’t believe in it, okay? Chill out, participate with the prompt and continue with having a nice day. I’m sure almost everybody has something...

shinigamiookamiryuu,

I’m infamous on Reddit as “that moon landing denier gal”. Sorry but I just don’t buy it. No goalpost was safe that decade and you don’t need the analytical videos to tell you that.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

You’re welcome. Seeing the reaction, I’m wondering if people read the title of the OP and were expecting popular opinions. Lemmy is more Reddit than Lemmy probably wants to admit.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

Can’t question what you’ve never had or seen.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

Aside from dictators (who are by definition very, very shitty people, but almost always have an art career for some reason), assuming actors don’t count as artists, I’d have to say the only example I can think of is Butch Hartman, not shitty because of his character but because he’s like the other JK Rowling.

To answer the second question, literally all the e-artists I’ve ever met, though art is relative enough I don’t feel like art can have a “negative” value. I trust they will never see this.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

Encoding/decoding. If something exists, it has a 25% chance of harboring a hidden message.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

I don’t know, but I’m about a year into Mastodon and haven’t found a single person to follow and interact with on a regular basis. I signed up during the surge so they specifically told me to go for the masto.a1 instance because it was the only one not overloaded, and I can see why. Currently I use my profile there as a kind of quasi-storage, as it’s not like it doesn’t work.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

Technically I can relate to the dreams thing but for completely different reasons. Dreams on their own are fine to talk about IMO (most famously as a conversation starter and I even help host a group set up for them), but once in a while you’ll find literal dream preachers (my first BF was one of these, coming to the meal table was a chore), and I might ask something like “will this be on the test”. It’s not some kryptonite, it’s just dull-ish for a lack of a better word, though I’m not singling it out either.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

I dream very, very infrequently, partially because of hypophantasia, partially because I learned lucid dreaming interferes with my sleep (it really isn’t that healthy), and also I’ve sort of stunted my dreaming. To explain, during a time when my outlook on the dreaming process was different, it used to be I primarily dreamt about people I missed. Such dreams were my glory, but then I’d wake up and the realization it was a dream once again would hit me hard.

One night I had such a dream, it became lucid, and I discovered that, despite being emotionally numb in real life which meant I have a hard time crying, in my dream I gravitated towards crying, and it felt unnaturally natural because I wouldn’t have expected it if I don’t gravitate towards crying in real life. It came to a point when I didn’t want to dream anymore, even if I never dreamt that often in the first place, so I pushed my ability to do so far, far away.

What are your criteria for upvoting/downvoting?

I hate that I always compare Lemmy to Reddit, but Reddit used to have (not sure if they still do) guidelines called “Reddiquette” that included guidelines about upvoting and downvoting. I don’t remember the specifics (and sending too much of my browser traffic to Reddit makes me feel dirty) but one of the guidelines was...

shinigamiookamiryuu,

I upvote any reply to anything I say and everything I reply to as a way of remembering where I’ve engaged. The only exceptions are things with clear perspective-lacking malice.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

Well if you’re a time traveler, you’d want to remove the very first meme for maximum ripple effect, so prevent people from questioning Bielefeld.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

It’s difficult to explain if you’re not in their cultural atmosphere reading the room (in my case I have family from there). Outsiders can currently see propaganda show-offs going on, India is maneuvering thought in favor of Israel (one might say going against previous sympathies in the process) while Pakistan is covertly one of the strongest sympathizers of Palestine. Nothing out of the ordinary, but it’s the subtleties in the expressions that would raise the first alarms if an outsider begged for hints that something is about to erupt. I’d give it one to three years.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

I don’t eat for pleasure, and I try to follow some bioethics, but that’s basically it.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

There is no middle ground between their two conflicting narratives, so neutrality would be impossible unless you found a source that was criticizing every last individual who happened to be in the conflict. The closest you’d get is maybe a Bahai source, and I only say that as a tragically creative solution because Bahais don’t believe in discussing politics while being forced to talk about this because their leadership has been caught in the crossfire of the attacks, having shared a promised land with the Jews and being headquartered there.
