smeg,

You can’t always just not use it, a lot of people get given macs as work machines. And having had macos updates break software compatibility multiple times I would not say “a very stable system”!

smeg,

I don’t mean this in an accusatory way, but did you create your account just to talk up macs? I know some people really love them, but plenty of people have serious issues with Apple’s entire philosophy. The “our way or the highway” idea is great if you want to do everything their way but when that way doesn’t work for what you want to do then that’s what rubs people the wrong way.

smeg,

Wow, you really do know best!

smeg,

What’s a “photo enforcement camera”? Speed camera? CCTV? Detects you then just drops on your head?

smeg,

True, though isn’t the heart actually in the middle and it’s just asymmetric (with the big body-pumping side on the left)?

smeg,

How would you know?

smeg,

If you melt yourself before you can pass on those dodgy genes of yours then the problem sorts itself out!

smeg,

Not living up to your username!

They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had And add some extra, just for you.

But they were fucked up in their turn By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern And half at one another’s throats.

Man hands on misery to man. It deepens like a coastal shelf. Get out as early as you can, And don’t have any kids yourself.

smeg,

I thought the Meet Me at McDonald’s was just curly on top, shaved back and sides. Dubya in this pic looks like one of those goldfish with the big sticking-out brain.

smeg,

I see you’re not familiar with the quality journalism of the Metro

smeg,

Consider my knickers twisted!

smeg,

“I can’t think of a good intro for my joke and am a slave to trends”

smeg,

They recently did an update on mobile which basically treats playlists as tags, in that you press the + button and you can easily add and remove songs from multiple playlists with a single click. I’m probably not describing it that well, but it’s one of the best features they’ve added in years!

smeg,

Are they not the same thing?

smeg,

I’ve not ever heard of any company wanting you to bring an extra-long CV with you, though since everything is online now any long-established rules are basically out the window

smeg,

I don’t think this is correct. Assuming you’re American then a CV is the same as what you’d call a résumé. Unless a résumé is more like a cover letter (as in the intro paragraph where you summarise what you do and why you want the job)?

smeg,

Cheers pal!

smeg,

If you’re OK with another self-plug then !freegames is a community I set up for posting limited-time giveaways of full video games. I now have more games than I have time to play.

smeg,

recently I registered for a gym that would then require me to use their google-store app so that I could identify myself

What do they do if you say “oh, I don’t have a smart phone”?

You Need to Turn on Apple’s New Stolen iPhone Tool (www.wired.com)

Apple today launched a new tool for iPhones to help reduce what a thief with your phone and passcode can access. The feature, called Stolen Device Protection, adds extra layers of protection to your iPhone when someone tries to access or change sensitive settings on your device.

smeg,

Relying more on biometrics hardly seems secure. Passwords can be changed, biometrics are forever and authorities do like to keep records of them.

smeg,

Actually generating an image related to your caption? That’s way too much effort for a shitpost!

smeg,

Looks like a good “best practices” sort of list. Would be nice if there was a bit more explanation as to why some of them are recommended (just because it’s good to understand why you’re disabling something rather than blindly following a guide), but still good!

smeg,

To add to that other (much more in-depth) comment, I remember reading on the GrapheneOS FAQs that disabling everything you’re not actively using will generally improve security as you’re reducing the number of potential ways for an attacker to get in (phrases like “attack vectors” and “surface area” were used).

On a separate note I didn’t even know 2G towers were still active anywhere; they’re shutting down the 3G ones here!

smeg,

I looked up what hotrail meant and I still don’t get it
