I think for that age range it kinda depends on when you entered the work force. Straight out of high school? Probably identity more with Gen X

In college for a while and graduated into the Great Recession? Probably more Millenial. That’s my uninformed take anyway

Cocoon is better than ET also

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians was done up by the MST3k folks, if you’re into that. Personally I’d prefer that experience over the original

Been using duck duck go for the last year or two. It’s maybe a little better on the bot & blog spam, but not much

Google beats DDG by a mile when you’re searching something super vague like “movie where Statue of Liberty gets slime sprayed inside”

smort, (edited ) to asklemmy in Which carbonated soft drink is the best?
@smort@lemmy.world avatar

My wife got me a kegerator a couple years ago. It’s amazing! Like $700. Fill up the keg with tap water when you run out (my keg is like 10 gal), refill the CO2 tank every 100 gals or so. I did a math a while back and it’s like 6 cents per glass, not including upfront costs.

Or you can get an adapter to use with a standard CO2 tank with a soda stream machine. Refill those CO2 tanks at your local home brewing supply store, which again is way cheaper than the sodastream CO2

smort, to asklemmy in I was just telling someone about how the loyalty plan for groceries was that you got the next letter's edition of the encyclopedia.
@smort@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah I remember my parents would get a Muppets glass (like for drinking from) by buying 15 gallons of gas from the gas station. It was a neat time

That why I like ranked mode in Rocket League. It (eventually) matches me with other people who are at the same “best in the neighborhood” skill level

I signed up with my local paper. Got the cheapest yearly subscription they offered that gave me full access to their articles online.

It came with delivery of the Sunday paper every week. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Oh great! The college football communities here don’t have flair like on /r/CFB, so having the profile pic makes conversations easier

The football team is playing vs. FAU tomorrow and it’s homecoming. They’re gonna wear the old gold style helmets with the “Robo Bull” logo! Or “constipated goat” as my sister calls it.

Maybe the Cheers finale, in 1993

smort, to asklemmy in Suggestions for an iOS News app (or way) that doesn't track (much) data ?
@smort@lemmy.world avatar

Have you tried Apple’s included “News” app? I’m in the US, so I’m not sure how well it would work for you. But Apple generally doesn’t sell your data, although I’m sure they do analytics for internal use.

I use that, Ground News, and daily digest emails from my local city newspaper and the indie neighborhood news site.
