threelonmusketeers,

“I can’t survive above 38.0 C for very long as well.”

OP must be weak. I had a fever above 38.0 °C for over a week once. Finally went to the hospital and my fever was gone by the time I arrived. Our bodies do some weird sh*t sometimes.

threelonmusketeers,

sourdough

yeast colony

Bacterial colony, no?

Also, you kill only half of them each time. For the sourdough starter, it’s like a Thanos-snap coin-flip everytime you bake bread. The bacteria in your current sourdough starter come from a long line of statistically lucky ancestors.

I suppose that’s kind of true for all of us, though…

threelonmusketeers,

Oyakodon: “parent-and-child donburi”

threelonmusketeers,

I wonder if Watterson has seen the Hobbes and Bacon strips, and if so, whether his response is positive, negative, mixed, or neutral. Given his elusive nature, we may never know…

threelonmusketeers,

Specifically what exploits are you referring to?

threelonmusketeers,

I actually didn’t get it until this comment.

IIRC, Watterson strongly disliked having to come up with these throwaway jokes which were often cut for space.

threelonmusketeers,

I thought they eat bark and leaves, and use the woody stuff for building. The folks on !beavers would probably know better than me.

threelonmusketeers,

I must be uninformed. What is FLAC, and should I be using it?

threelonmusketeers,

not sure if this is the right place to report bugs with the app

I’ve seen Kuro around this community recently, so this is likely a good place.

the latest version of the app

Might be useful to specify the exact version number. Not everyone receives updates at the same time, and future releases will render the “latest” statement false.

For a 24-slot centrifuge, 5 pairs and 1 triple will balance 13 tubes, as is described in the comment you replied to.

Here’s a video that also explains it: The Centrifuge Problem - Numberphile

threelonmusketeers,

Um… okay. I guess he was still finding his style at this point.

threelonmusketeers,

If I recall correctly, electrons in s orbitals have a nonzero probability of being observed inside the nucleus. So I guess they would be less lonely?

threelonmusketeers,

Is there a Grand Pajoe hate community on Lemmy yet?

threelonmusketeers, (edited )

If I recall correctly, the MythBusters tested “sneezing with your eyes open”, and the sneeze does not come out your eyes.

Bloom County Starts December 8 (sh.itjust.works)

If you don’t know about Bloom County it’s a comic strip that ran the decade of the 80s (1980-1989). It was one of my favorites as a kid and though some of it will surely be dated, the majority should hold up well to current times. It examined events in politics and culture through the viewpoint of a fanciful small town in...

threelonmusketeers,

Have there been advancements in materials or safety procedures since the Hindenburg that would allow us to safely use hydrogen as a lifting gas? It seems a waste to use helium for anything other than cooling big magnets.

threelonmusketeers,

This needs a Strauss waltz as a soundtrack…
