Ya know what was a foundational part of the American dream? Pensions. Ya know which employers still offer them? Counties, states and the federal government.

Private companies exist solely to make the people at the top very rich based on the stolen value of employee labor while dumping catastrophic losses in the public sphere. That's capitalism in a nutshell.

You'd have to be unbelievably gullible, naive, traumatized AND brainwashed to be a diehard for a system like that. But, somehow they've managed it. A deluded nation of Amway top performers just one move away from making their own imaginary millions. All simping for the system.

If he was pronouncing it correctly, the response would be "what'd you just call me?"

Ending support for Windows 10 could send 240 million computers to the landfill. Why not install Linux on them? (gadgettendency.com)

With support ending for Windows 10, the most popular desktop operating system in the world currently, possibly 240 million pcs may be sent to the landfill. This is mostly due to Windows 11’s exorbitant requirements. This will most likely result in many pcs being immediately outdated, and prone to viruses. GNU/Linux may be...

Capitalism must feed. And, if we don't give them huge electronics landfills to search for scrap, what are our children and grandchildren going to do for work?

I exclusively pray to the god of the sentient beings running our simulation for truly we are but a part of their intelligent design. 👀

Even then, only in a shortsighted, politically deceptive manner. Taxation driven by sales in a thriving hub with free transit also pads the budget. But, taxes are unpopular and people like sports teams and arena shows and overpriced shitty beverages. They give the bigger dopamine hit.

And, they act like stadiums are going to"drive economic" activity instead of creating dead zones in cities.
You know what would guarantee increased economic activity?
People being able to easily get to jobs and shops.

Regular handled pan of water on the stove. Add coffee grounds to water 30-60 seconds after removing from boil, to allow water to dip a few degrees under 100 C. Let sit for a while. Pour through fine mesh sieve into cup.

Fun fact: Crocs chew their chop-chop, both because they live in an aquatic environment and because they've got those little birds to pick at their pearly whites & keep em gleamin'.

It was a meme reference. You took that way too personally. I'm sorry if you were offended.

@uphillbothways@kbin.social avatar

This is a shit posting community. Meme references should be assumed.
And I'm not your employee. Neither time nor place for your insecurities. Some conflict resolution skills ya got there.

Immediately talking about yourself, claiming authority, offended at the least thing, telling people what to think instead of showing those traits, serious in an unserious setting, and more. Your response to what started with a simple meme reference has me seeing more in common with the worst managers I've worked with in your actual behavior.

It's tidally locked to earth. Earth isn't tidally locked to it. Happens slowly due to gravity and differential mass. Relatively stable satellites end up tidally locked given the time. Pretty sure lack of water/liquids/atmosphere hastens the process.

Aren't babies cartilaginous at birth? Guess it's still a skeleton as it is a structural frame, even if it's not made out of bones yet.

A few of the best books I've read I just didn't finish because I didn't want that closure on the story.
Plenty of bad books. Didn't finish those either. But, they'd usually get put down sooner and not really thought about, later.

Walking two steps outside in socks and accidentally stepping on a slug... It was like 37 years ago... I'm still traumatized.

Shave your parts and buy a ghastly merkin for sexy times. Tell her you only wear it to reduce the chaffing. Then, bust out a gnarly fake beard and ask if she wants oral.

I read fiction for a certain amount of enjoyment, but also to prepare for conversation with people when it's required in the near future.

Haven't even played an elder scrolls game in over 15 years, and I know it's called Tamriel.

Here's a little story 'bout a cat named Locutus.
All started when this big square ship tried to shoot us.
Next thing you know up on the main screen
pops up the fly shawty we'll call the Borg Queen.
