victorz,

And there’s the full-circle joke. Bravo. 👌

victorz,

Honest question, what would you do with it? Would you use it? If so, for what?

victorz,

Absolutely insufferable. Both of them.

victorz,

Even if there’s a reject button, still freaking annoying when you start reading and after two seconds you get interrupted by the prompt.

It used to be just the newsletter prompt, the notifications prompt, etc. Don’t need an additional thing by law. 😑 Let’s hope it goes away soon with the current developments.

victorz,

Yep, this is the one I have. 👌💪 It’s very good.

victorz,

I have consent-o-matic, works great on both desktop and mobile. 👍

victorz,

Yeah, I have them both and they’re great!

victorz,

Haven’t run into a game yet that doesn’t run on Linux when using Proton. 👌

victorz,

That’s gotta be rectifiable somehow. Did you contact some sort of support?

victorz,

Same experience on Linux for me. Install Steam, install Proton, set it to be default for all games. Click and play. 🙂👍 Not really “fiddling”. It’s a one-time thing that I equate to just installing Steam. Very good experience.

victorz, (edited )

You install it from within Steam, or using flatpak if you’re installing Steam via flatpak [Proton on flatpak has reached EOL, try installing via Steam instead]. Then in settings you set it so every game uses the Proton compatibility layer, or whatever it’s called. You don’t have to do it per game, it’s a global setting (as well as a setting for each game if you prefer).

I can’t answer for a specific game though, you’d have to simply try it out or check a database which has info on games that can run using Proton. I don’t know the site from memory.

victorz,

It’s such a shame about KSP 2. I was so hyped when I saw it was announced, then it all turned to shiz.

victorz,

That’s actually a good tip. Even though I don’t use CUDA and never have.

victorz,

Let’s hope someone who knows about Steam Deck can answer that for you. Otherwise I’d try to find a community dedicated to Steam Deck. 👍

victorz,

Really struggling to see that with the Noto emoji set on Android, or even the Apple emoji set. I can’t do it.

victorz,

Have to chime in because I had the exact same thoughts as you. It really sounds like someone dialing you drunk af/high af at 3 AM ready to make a huge ass pizza but they can’t figure this basic ass shit out.

Like, if sober, how is the answer to this question not deducible from common sense.

victorz,

X11 is already dead

How do you mean that? I’ve been using X11 for like 17 years. i3 uses X11, and I will most likely not use another WM if I can help it. It’s perfect for me. X11 is available in the core repositories of all the big distros.

Curious to know what you mean by “dead”.

victorz,

You made exactly the point I was trying to make.

I guess “dead” is a matter of definition in this case. 🙂

victorz, (edited )

I actually used Sway for a while. Can’t remember why I switched back though. What would X11 “going end-of-life” entail? Not being distributed/packaged anymore? Is there an official timeline for that or something?

victorz,

I think it is unusual. As a software engineer who has a large circle of friends, loads of them know I use Linux, but literally no one cares or is curious about knowing more. And honestly I’m not interested in explaining. We talk about and do other things lol. I sometimes talk about differences and news about both with those who have jobs or interests closer to the IT business, and we have a short conversation about those news, but nobody asks me about Linux, and especially not Windows. It’s not interesting.

victorz,

It’s all relative. 25 mins would be a short flight. But to spend 25 minutes on some bullshit like this? Hell nah. Way too long.

victorz,

How old are you? Do you remember how stupid we were when we were like, 12? How learning new shit really required over clarification ad nauseam seen through our eyes now? Teachers are really patient people.

Anyway, this is just a joke post. Get over it. 🙂 Laugh at the funny. Instead of sucking it out of us. ❤️ The parentheses help make it look like the math is more advanced than it really is. It’s fine. Shhh. No no. Shhh. It’s supposed to be funny.
