When I was about 3 or 4 I had a dream that a purple alien landed in my backyard, and turned the neighbour’s dog against me. I was too young to understand what dreams were all about and I was terrified of sleeping for a long time.
I’ve found that hot and active sorting do not create the most enjoyable feed experience for me. I currently have my sorting set to top>6 hours, which I like much better. It means my feed does not change that much over time, so if you’re opening Lemmy frequently for a couple of minutes of browsing, it doesn’t really work. But I generally only come here during my commute, so twice a day for a longer period of browsing, and it works really well for that.
I haven’t run Linux myself, but I know people who have.
The Linux experience, from the outside, seemed to consist of solving problems that wouldn’t exist if you just used the OS your computer came with, and being so very proud of your geek prowess, without having the self awareness to realise you’re the one who broke it in the first place.
The cure seems to be growing up, having adult responsibilities, and not having the time or inclination to spend an evening un-fucking your computer.
Literally have not been back since I decided to leave before the blackout.
Considering incised to spen hours a day s rolling that place, I haven’t missed it and just moved on. 12years or more I was a regular contributor and viewer and quit cold turkey style :)
I was about to say find a European instance due to the language culture here, but I see that you beat me to it :p
As long as you follow the instance’s rules it shouldn’t be a problem to sign up at e.g. feddit.dk. But it will help if you can tell what languages you are looking for.
Tbh I’ll probably try there, they just seemed pretty strict in their sign up process :p. The thing is I’m not looking for a specific language but I’m into language learning and it would be nice to be able to see posts in eg. Spanish, French and Swedish without needing a separate account for each.
I suggest mentioning that in your application. The admin isn’t strict, he just want to keep out trolls and bad actors. I can suggest sending this post through DeepL as the admin there discusses e.g. approval of applications. It might help you understand what is needed.
I make a routine to make myself forget about the world for a bit. For me that’s getting a soda and watching a movie/TV show for a couple of hours or playing video games.
I open the app out of muscle memory a few times a day, infinity still works somehow, but most of my subs have been closed/dead now anyway so not really.
