Locuralacura, in Does anyone actually enjoy working out?

Does swimming, yoga, biking and gardening count as exercise, or are we strictly taking about big muscle workout?

aCosmicWave,

Those count 😊 , but I guess I was mostly talking about indoor workouts like cycling, jogging on a treadmill, lifting weights. Something that you do purely for fitness sake.

CoachDom, in How safe is it to eat raw eggs?
@CoachDom@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Last time I researched this, I came to the following conclusions:

  1. Salmonella lives on/in the hard shell part of an egg (not penetrating it) so unless you consume the shell, you should be fine
  2. If an egg has a lion stamp on it (UK only I think) it means that the farm it came from is certified not to have salmonella
  3. I ate raw eggs (including shell) on many occasion (not really a party trick but I like to shock people every now and then :D) and never have I ever encountered any unpleasantries because of this (apart from them tasking like runny boogers).
YMS,
@YMS@kbin.social avatar

Number 1 is wrong. Salmonellae primarily live on the shell, but they possibly propagate to everything that touches the shell, including obviously the inner part of the egg.

Number 2 is good to know: The lion stamp eggs are from chicken that have been vaccinated against the most common salmonella infections. There is no 100% guarantee that it is effective, but together with hygienic measures and regular controls, they can be seen as virtually salmonella-free. Worth noting that vaccination is a requirement in many countries (e.g. Germany), and EU-wide for big farms.

Vault warden. (Implements bitwarden).

Works with bitwarden apps / browser plugins. Locally hosted. Rust.

Ghostc1212, in Does anyone actually enjoy working out?

When you pump large amounts of iron in rapid succession at the gym, it makes you feel unstoppable, like you could take on the world. It’s an absolutely wonderful feeling to have, and I think it can be chalked up to the testosterone boost. The way to cultivate this mindset is

  1. Simply work out. The body releases the “unstoppable” chemical when you do Chad shit.
  2. Have more faith in your own capabilities. This will naturally happen if you surround yourself with positive reinforcement and if you do step 1.
flashgnash,

Hell yes we love the unstoppable chemical.

Try out the songs Rum and Bass and the ultimate Dirk theme from pesterquest next time you’ve got it, matches the vibe perfectly

TheWorstNL, in Does anyone else struggle with silence, particularly when trying to sleep?

Yep. I also have a bit of tinnitus so I prefer a bit of sound. Usually I play an episode of Frasier, Mom or Modern Family. Usually before the end of the episode I’m sleeping.

LachlanUnchained,

Yeh. Exactly me.

kill_dash_nine,

Do…do you live in my house? I will say that I tend to wake up to hear tossed salads and scrambled eggs though and shut off the TV when I can just roll back over and be asleep though.

Shepstr,

Put your TV on a 15/30min sleep timer?

kill_dash_nine,

Yeah, my wife usually sets an hour timer. Her sleep patterns are odd for falling asleep. She is out in 5 minutes some nights, other nights she can’t sleep for hours.

bouncingbollocks, in Does anyone actually enjoy working out?

It’s not fun, I do it cause it gives me euphoric feelings similar to opiates and it makes my brain shut up for a few hours. Plus I sleep like a champ after a good workout

nekat_emanresu, in Why is youtube recommending conservative "talking points" to me?

Conseratives and fascists are the same group, so I’ll refer to them as fascists.

You are talking about one of the core criticisms of corporate secret algorithms to determine what to influence you with. Fascism is forced to creep into everyones world view when you use standard social media, and the average person wouldn’t have the slightest idea. Certain key things will be more related to fascist content, like philosophy, psychology, guns, comedy. If you think about what fascists enjoy, or what they need to slander then it makes what I said make more sense.

Jordan Peterson does a lot of vids around psych/philosophy to redirect curious people to false answers that are close to true but more agreeable for fascists. An example of a psychological cooption is “mass psychosis” being coopted into “mass formation psychosis” by fascists. Mass psychosis explains too many true things, where mass formation psychosis redirects people towards a more palletable direction for them.

This is why I want to be nowhere near corporate media if possible. If you delete your cookies(or private browse for the same effect) then youtube will promote the most adjacent things to what you watch like old youtube used to do, although it’ll still promote fascism when directly adjacent. With cookies though they have an excuse to have questionable content linger statistically too often.

HappyHam,

You actually believe that every single conservative is a fascist? Jesus Christ political literacy is dead

angstylittlecatboy,

Not necessarily in all countries, but in the USA I’d say all Republicans are fascist, or at least complicit in the spread of fascism. The conservative wing of the Dems, nah.

nekat_emanresu,

Maybe you need to go have a read about fascism, then tell me, are the points presented becoming more or less similar to current conservative views?

PowerCrazy,

I just use the term capitalism since there is no difference in the goals of either.

HappyHam,

Oh, I don’t deny that a lot of Republicans are becoming fascists, but that is far from “all conservatives are fascists”.

nekat_emanresu,

Nooo, i finished my comment to you and then upvoted you while proof reading >_> turns out that kills the comment… ugh…

If i could rewrite my first comment to just talk about conservatives then i would have. I’d rather focus on active threats of evil corp shenanigans.

I agree that republicans are becoming fascists in the overt sense. My views are based more on that they are unknowingly fascist by actions, not awareness. Conservative policy in a nutshell is really just “We good, You bad” and power plays without any rational explanation. Can you really name any decent policies conservatives have? All i hear is hate, scapegoating, intensification of totalitarian power structures, increasing control for corporations, war and guns. Those things were key in Nazi Germany too.

AndrewZabar, in Now that Lemmy is growing an important question needs to be answered: what should we use as our equivalent for "the narwhal bacons at midnight?"

Uh, we could just behave like adults, instead?

onionbaggage, in What's the point of buying new phones every years?

I just use my phone until it either breaks or can’t do what I want it to do.

Since having kids they break more often.

orientalsniper, in I'm being harassed by mosquitoes, how do i kill them all?

Get a spray bottle, put alcohol in it, it will always hit one.

darkstar,

Does this actually work?

orientalsniper,

It does, especially on hot days when they all come for me. Get a good bottle spray tho.

GentlemenPreferBongs, in What's the point of buying new phones every years?

It’s turned into the car stereo thing. In 2002, I wanted a rainbow vomit colored faceplate, CD-R and MP3 support, CD carousel in the trunk, a USB port, steering wheel remote

Now I just want bluetooth, an aux in and a volume button.

Until phones merge with a steamdeck or something, there isn’t much to look forwards to anymore.

My phone from 2014 pretty much did everything my current phone can. Certainly nothing worth spending hundreds of dollars on if you have a working cell.

bazsy, in What's a good way to prank your coworker?

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA, in I'm being harassed by mosquitoes, how do i kill them all?
@HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world avatar

Can you buy a million sterilized mosquitos and release them into your environment? It’s a long term solution but they can compete the fertile mosquitos to death.
