ellesper, in what is the safest way to make sure a wasp or a bee won't attack you?
@ellesper@lemmy.world avatar

Bees couldn’t care less about you unless you’re threatening them. I constantly have bees in my garden and we can peacefully coexist. Fuck wasps though.

hungryphrog,

Please don’t fuck wasps.

greatwhitebuffalo41, in Do Japanese toilets live up to the hype?
@greatwhitebuffalo41@slrpnk.net avatar

I hate pooping in public, I want my bidet at home.

lvxferre, in If you could satisfy your daily nutrition and caloric needs with one food in particular, what food would you happily eat for the rest of your life?
@lvxferre@lemmy.ml avatar

If I can’t vary the recipe (it needs to be the exact same every time), I’d probably live off something inoffensive and bland. Like polenta with fried eggs.

If there’s some room for variation however it got to be stew. It’s still a stew if I sub potatoes with taro. It’s still a stew if I sub the beef with chicken or fish. It’s still a stew if I change the seasoning. You get the idea, right?

Kaliax, in If you could satisfy your daily nutrition and caloric needs with one food in particular, what food would you happily eat for the rest of your life?

Pizza

kadu, in If you could satisfy your daily nutrition and caloric needs with one food in particular, what food would you happily eat for the rest of your life?
@kadu@lemmy.world avatar

Yakisoba. I could eat this everyday for every meal and never get tired of it. I love it.

Though good luck trying to make it balanced from a nutritional point of view. Waaaay too many oils.

JesusTheCarpenter, in Atheists/agnostics of Lemmy, do you believe in the existence of souls?

No

Rhabuko, in What made you pick the Lemmy server you are on?
@Rhabuko@feddit.de avatar

I'm on Feddit.de because it was recommended to me by join-lemmy.org and I like to have a server that has a German speaking Focus in the local feed.

Jodilye, in What do you do to stop procrastinating?

I try to be abrupt. So I’ll be sat down for an hour, chastising myself every 5 minutes for not doing something productive, then one of those times, halfway through the thought I just kind of internally shout at myself to GET UP.

Put what I’m holding down, stand up, do one thing. If I can carry on going and do more-great. If not at least I did one thing.

substill, in Well their ever be a Lemmy mobile app?

There are a bunch already… Wefwef is really good

livedeified, in Well their ever be a Lemmy mobile app?
@livedeified@lemmy.world avatar

there’s a number of them already. in fact, I’m using one to write this comment. perhaps I misunderstood you though. could you please elaborate on what you mean?

Generator, in how do i create a community?
@Generator@lemmy.pt avatar

Depending of your instance, see the local communities, you should have some for “community request” or meta, look for the description of the communities.

You can also request on other instance, doesn’t need to be on your instance. Some can be more restrict then others.

There’s also theme specific instances, like Star Trek, Path of Exile, FOSS… each instance can have his own rules.

RatzChatsubo,

So I tried again today and had no issues. I wonder if the server was overloaded or something

quinten, in Will there be a way to migrate your account to another instance?
@quinten@lemmy.world avatar

See the Lemmy blog:

At the same time, we are seeing lots of requests to implement major new features, such as migration between instances, or combining similar communities. As described above, we are completely overloaded with work, and definitely won’t have time to implement these in the near future. If there is a feature you want to see implemented, you will likely need to work on it yourself, or find someone who can.

join-lemmy.org/…/2023-06-17_-_Update_from_Lemmy_a…

linucs,

God I love FOSS, I contributed with a very tiny feature but it made me feel so good knowing I contributed to a beautiful, community owned, project

azmalent, in Atheists/agnostics of Lemmy, do you believe in the existence of souls?

Answering my own question: I’ve always identified as an atheist but I still believe there’s more to us than just atoms.

In my view, there’s something in our consciousness that gives you identity and defines who you are, why you perceive the flow of time and the sequence of events that happens to a specific person (you). It’s why from my perspective I’m the main character of my story and everyone else is essentially an NPC.

This is what I would call a soul. I don’t believe they’re immortal or anything, however.

yads,

I’d imagine you’re rather unique. I have a hard time imagining atheists believing in something as nebulous as a soul.

EDIT: Please don’t downvote OP, if anything this is a more interesting discussion thread than just “No, we’re just meat and electricity”

OccamsTeapot, in My 13yo stepdaughter just recently started watching Gilmore Girls with her mom. What are some good things to say during their post-watch discussions that make it sound like I'm in the know?

If they’ve seen Supernatural please join my game of calling him Sam instead of Dean

notapantsday, in Do Japanese toilets live up to the hype?

They’re awesome! Being 100% clean instead of 75-90% makes a world of difference. Plus, you can keep browsing Lemmy or even brush your teeth while the toilet cleans your butt.

You still have to use toilet paper to pat yourself dry, but much less than before and you can buy the cheapest and scratchiest half-ply garbage, it doesn’t matter. There are also models with a built in blow dryer, but it takes ages, so I never use mine.

Only downside is that I dread leaving home for more than a few days now. Using toilet paper feels so stupid and ineffective now.
