allan, in Can someone still viewing Reddit explain how it is doing as of right now in terms of content quality and engagement?

PeepinGoodArgs, in What's the best ChatGPT app?

App? Uh…idk about app, per se.

Perplexity.ai is a search engine, it’s like Google on steroids. I’m researching online graduate programs, and I like how I can ask for tables to compare different programs side by side easily. With Google, I’d have to manually create that.

Perplexity.ai has an app, if that counts…

When people say a politician “raised taxes.” More often than not it’s a tax that does not apply to 99.99% of the population and they raised it from 0.000001% to 0.000002%

But boy do those campaign ads look good

SgtSilverLining, in Where are some good places online to reliably find a job?
@SgtSilverLining@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

See if your area has staffing agencies. They’re totally free, you can sign up for as many as you want, and the recruiter does all the legwork for you. Most offer permanent positions and health insurance.

Someonelol, in Do Japanese toilets live up to the hype?

I was in Japan for two weeks and at first I thought I really liked them. The ones I used had heated seats, ran speakers with the sound of water to cover up any uncomfortable sounds others may hear, and had the all-important bidet. The one downside that made me get tired of them though was the small toilet hole. The toilet seat itself had most of those gadgets embedded in it and thus took up quite a bit of room and I’m used to the long type of seat with an opening at the front. I didn’t have a comfortable position for both by butt and penis to fit comfortably without a bit of an ab workout so they got old for me pretty quickly. I recommend just sticking to an installed bidet if you’re larger than the average Japanese man.

buxtonwater, in What niche reddit community do you want to see find a place on the fediverse?
@buxtonwater@lemmy.ml avatar

A VR (virtual reality) focused community would be nice, it has a very strong community across devices all things considered.

Late reply but I just randomly saw this and thought you might wanna check out !virtualreality which seems to be the biggest vr community right now!

viciousme, in How has ur lemmy experience been so far?

Greatly improved after I found out about mlmym.org (old Reddit UI for Lemmy)

midas, in Atheists/agnostics of Lemmy, do you believe in the existence of souls?

I do not. When the brain stops working it’s just the end. I wasn’t raised religious and I’ve never ‘felt’ anything spiritual. I respect people who do, but I just don’t - it doesn’t make sense to me.

Not that I’ve a choice but I do feel a sense of calm in the fact that when I die there’s nothing. We’re just a blip in a never ending universe.

It was here long before us and it’ll continue to exist long after us. It’s initially a very terrifying truth but eventually it becomes our most comforting truth.

filthypoor, in Lemmy, what is the scariest/creepiest/eeriest experience you have had while travelling?

My friend and I got stopped by the police in Cozumel for driving on the wrong road. They threatened to take our IDs, which led to the need to bribe them not to. Not necessarily scary in a “fear for my life” way, but it also delayed us enough that we had to ride a rented moped in the dark for a few miles to get back in time for the ferry.

TravelsInObscurity,

Not necessarily creepy but definitely scary. Glad you made it out in one piece

throwaway_OT05wZjv, (edited ) in Where do I find a list of local instances?

For micro/personal server runners, I built a tool to automatically discover and add communities to your local instance :)

github.com/lflare/lemmy-subscriber-bot

EDIT: For support requests, I’ve created lemmy.world/c/lsbsupport as well.

Hello_there, in Do Japanese toilets live up to the hype?

Go to Japan and find out.

SinJab0n, in Why did you choose your instance?

I actually made my home in the one hosting a previous reddit community I was fond of, just choose one u like.
