olpappy, in I need to survive for 3 days without pooping, and eating as little as possible. I can pee, but not very often. It can't take up too much space. What food do I pack?
@olpappy@mander.xyz avatar

A small bottle of olive oil. It’s very high calorie so it will keep you somewhat energized in small quantities. Consumed in small amounts you may be able to go three days without shitting.

TheShane,

In large quantities... It will make your bum like a sluice gate!

Girtablulu,
@Girtablulu@feddit.de avatar

can confirm, ain't fun

jwu,

Yeah, but olive oil is also a mild laxative.

SubArcticTundra,
@SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml avatar

I can’t imagine myself consuming more than a spoonful of oil, any oil

kraiden,

Olive oil is actually delicious. Can't speak to using it for non-poopy reasons, but throw some in a bowl, add a splash of balsamic vinegar, sprinkle in some chunky rock salt, and dip the bougiest bread you can find in that shit! Delicious!

SubArcticTundra,
@SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml avatar

Well yes I agree, olive oil + salt is a godly combination, I just can’t imagine gulping it down like it’s a Fanta

Jimmycrackcrack,

I think the consumption of only oily fat will cause a bit of a shitsplosion and probably sooner than 3 days in.

jgrim, in You can have any superpower, but the first person to reply chooses a side effect

Clear anyone of debt just by thinking it.

Orvanis,

Their debt transfers to you.

nichty,

And then to you…

CanadaPlus,

And then to an orphan somewhere. You monster.

skillissuer,

removal of debt happens by way of destruction of banking infrastructure. this may or may not be related to other harm

-- this is actually how quite a lot of people got debts cleared on 9/11 (this was before offsite backups)

Hikyuri, in What is your favorite way to spend money?
@Hikyuri@kbin.social avatar

Seems silly now that I think about it but I guess I get most excited about buying sweets and snacks... Just can't beat the taste of some nice chocolate.

Badass_panda, in It would be cool to have Lemmy pen pals. Asklemmy, what are your hobbies and what's your life like?

I have a hobby of trying out new hobbies till I've accumulated a bunch of stuff, then losing interest and doing new hobbies!

I've stuck with carpentry/woodworking, wine / beer making / distilling spirits, and outdoorsy hobbies like skiing / sailing.

Like others here I really enjoy reading, video games, etc. Getting back into scuba!

Badass_panda,

Okay so I'm with you on the hound dogs, those fuckers are the best boys, every single one of em including the girls

jdb,

Reminds me of this from one of my favorite short video series years ago. Also, I’m the same!

ah, my people

3rdBlueWizard,

Biggest problem for me is finding other people enjoying my new hobby, at the same stage of learning, during the time period that I am into it.

I've been learning acrylic painting the last few weeks. I'd love to find a forum to discuss this while I'm still into it.

Badass_panda,

See now I just got tempted to go get acrylic paints and join you. Get thee behind me, satan

Cloak, in Does anyone else feel extremely annoyed when things are even slightly imperfect?
@Cloak@lemmy.ml avatar

Sure, I suppose I’m like this too, and hunting down and fixing this stuff brings me the most satisfaction. Highly recommended to learn to program :)))

s_s, in Why is a millennium old fossilised human poop on display at the Archaeological Resource Centre in the UK?

We've finally found something truly worthy of staying in the British Museum.

Teleportation

Chainweasel,

You conserve your angular momentum, so if you move at all in latitude the earth we'll be moving at a different speed. It would be like stepping out of a moving vehicle onto the freeway but a whole lot faster.

iRyu, in "Connect" for Lemmy app - anyone tried it yet?

I have it! I go between that and jerboa. I appreciate the ui a lot. Sometimes I have trouble reading the comments sections, but I'm getting used to it. I've emailed the dev actually and he responded quickly and reached out after an update to see if my bugs were fixed.

I say give it a shot

ilickfrogs, in Hypothetically speaking, if Reddit back tracks on their API plan and meets all of the communities expeditions- would you go back to Reddit?
@ilickfrogs@lemmy.world avatar

Up until 3rd party app devs announced they're converting their apps to Lemmy? Yes.

Now, absolutely the fuck not. Reddit is a cesspool compared to when I first joined in 2013. Lemmy feels a lot more like reddit did then. It's quaint and cozy here. Yes I'd like to see this place grow some more. But 1/10th the size of reddit would be plenty. Most reddit users don't contribute anything useful anyways so no loss there.

DrPop,

The culture is so different. I'm glad Reddit made space for so many different people. But the changes to make it more ad friendly sucks. Also seeing pop culture stuff reach the top regularly is annoying I don't care about celebrities.

CCatMan, in I need to survive for 3 days while pooping as much as possible. I can pee as often as I like. It can take up loads of space. What food do I pack?

Kiwis Red pepper flakes Spinach Water

You can add these to a blender to help digest even faster.

You can also pick up some high fiber cereal.

But yeah I think your stomach is not going to be happy.

dRLY, in I need to survive for 3 days without pooping, and eating as little as possible. I can pee, but not very often. It can't take up too much space. What food do I pack?

This is the most upvotes I have seen on Lemmy so far! We gotta get this over 1k at least!

eric, in It would be cool to have Lemmy pen pals. Asklemmy, what are your hobbies and what's your life like?

I'm 33M, single dad, and recently widowed. My son takes up a majority of my time and I love just about every moment with him. In my spare time I'm learning guitar and enjoy playing video games with friends. My job is in software engineering and I enjoy tinkering with computers.

fruitywelsh, in Whaf do you think of hosting an AMA with John Oliver to make Lemmy/kbin officially a viable Reddit replacement?

To be honest I don’t think we are ready for that level of scrutiny. I would imagine if he were to agree, he would do research first, and the Fediverse has a lot of unanswered questions for the mainstream person.

Can the Fediverse sustain users, both in usability and costs (see also “Can we keep up with user growth”)? How will NFSW moderation work, since so far I see most instances saying it won’t and just shutting down that vector of work and questions? How does regulation or working with authorities look like on the Fediverse (this is antithetical to most Fediverse goals, but for main stream people a normal question)? How will user verification work for celebrities or important figures? What are the ethical consideration to support devs, like the lemmy devs, with controversial opinions?

Some of these are whataboutism when comparing to Reddit. Some of these just stuff the average Redditor and Fediverse user couldn’t care less about, or frankly don’t want asked, but these are top questions I would expect a liberal journalist to be asking, even if they are generally anti-corperate and pro-grassroots.

nieceandtows,
