I just don’t subscribe to those communities and that seems to work well enough. When I don’t want to see it, I sort by subscribed. If I’m in the mood for memes or shitposts, I sort by all.
I want to see them, I just want Lemmy to distribute them more evenly among other communities in the feed. As others have suggested the sorting algorithm should weigh each score inversely by the average score of posts in that community.
Also Rocket League. I’ve got like 2K hours and managed to get to Grand Champion (1) once, but usually hang around in Champ 2 or 3. In a way I just play like a very consistent Diamond player though. I can semi-reliably wavedash, sometimes manage to hit a half flip, and can’t do any flip resets, musty flicks, etc. I solely rely on positioning, shooting at the right time, fast aerials, bumping, and boost stealing.
Embarrassingly, I typically only.pkay ranked and am D2 in both 2v and 3v … but, I haven’t played in 2 or 3 months now and I understand they’ve changed the MMR or how players are ranked. Btw, I’m old
My OS kept stalling/crashing on boot-up a few months into using it and I could not figure out why or how to fix it. Couldn’t log in or input any commands into the terminal to try out anything so I just gave up.
Luckily my important data was backed up and I had Windows on another drive. I thought the drive might have failed, but it hasn’t had any issues since on Windows. I’d love to return to Linux in the future but I think that experience wil haunt me for a while.
When i was probably 4 or 5 i had a reocurring nightmare i was walking down the street to my friend jeff’s house and the sky suddenly turned stormy and red and giant house sized rabbits started chasing me.
Yeah it’s the reason, back on Reddit, that I’m able to see posts from smaller subreddits show up near the top of my feed because it’s popular relative to the number of subscribers of that subreddit.
@peter@argentcorvid algorithms aren't evil, the important part was always control over how it works.
The fediverse is in an excellent position to first recreate the problem of having too much and then someone will take one for the team and develop some easy to configure filter that weights things properly.
I still look, but mostly to: a) Keep up with the Oakland Athletics fan protest efforts as the A’s sub is where that really got coordinated with the larger community b) Try to figure out if some of the oddball subs I am on there and enjoyed have equivalents here, on the Matrix, Telegraph, etc.
I feel like I will kill my account there once those things are resolved enough to make Reddit fully pointless for me.
