jnato90, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

RIF was my app for Reddit so once that went down I’ve cut it like 99%. Similarly I’m there now for questions that I can only seem to find there unfortunately but not logged in since.

johnnyjayjay, in In which game did you spend the most hours?

I don’t know how much time I’ve spent in Minecraft, but it’s probably over 1000 hours.

Second place certainly goes to LoL. They reset the statistics at some point but my guess is also close to 1000 (at some point I had like 700 and kept playing for a while).

I don’t play either of those anymore though.

EnmaAi22, in In which game did you spend the most hours?

The game with most hours has to be Minecraft. I don’t know the exact amount but it has to be at around 4000 hours.

Second is CSGO with 3600 hours

Third is league of legends with around 3000 hours

Followed by Gmod with 900 hours

Fortnite with 600 hours

Fall guys with 500 hours

And after that it doesn’t really make sense to list them

I was very addicted to gaming in my youth .

Nope

dubyakay, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

I’ve stopped using reddit, unless I need to search for historic content related to some tech gadget or something. And then only on desktop/laptop.

I’ve subbed to audible and kindle unlimited and been happier since.

Angelo, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

I still use reddit but only when Google search results points me to it and via a teddit (alternative frontend) instance so I don’t give them a dime with ads nor a visit, but teddit is slowly dying (Error: 429 “Too Many Requests”) because they decreased the limit of posts it could load, so you have to switch between instances until it finally loads, but thankfully, a script does that for you automatically (thanks to bezier-curve from Hacker News news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36726442) : pastebin.com/zFJ5nb42

Also, to be automatically redirected from reddit to your favorite teddit instance, you could use this extension for Firefox (I’m not using Chrome sorry) : addons.mozilla.org/…/reddit-to-teddit-redirect/

To help prevent 429 errors from happening, you can still help by creating more teddit servers! : codeberg.org/teddit/teddit

SRo, in Those who tried Linux and went back to Windows, what caused you to go back to Windows?

I use both. Linux as a homserver runs a bunch of docker containers and a Nas/personal cloud. Desktop and notebook runs Windows because compatibility and honestly Linux as a desktop still sucks ass. I tried it the first time in the mid 90s and even after all the promises and a quarter of a century later its still shit. Just take the L Linux and be what you are; the best server os.

milicent_bystandr,

See, I always find it funny when people say Linux is rubbish for desktop. I main Linux and boot Windows for some games, and Windows continues to find ways to bug me while my Linux desktop feels great.

I guess YMMV

I’m using Linux for desktop since years - even my non tech savvy girlfriend uses KDE without issues on her laptop.

What was your issue?

I can’t stand to work with Windows. Is gruesome slow and confusingly designed. Configuration is splittered across the system. Some parts in GUI setting tools, some part in registry, some part in specific files.
Error codes are completely useless under Windows. In Linux the error message gives me at least a clue what’s happening.

I can’t understand how anybody can really work with Windows. Gladly I can do 99% of everything in Linux. Only some industry hardware configuration tools are still stuck on Windows.

javidoom, in Be honest, do you still use reddit?

Nope. I uninstalled boost and no come back.

DeltaTangoLima, in Have you ever had a hyper realistic dream that you still remember after years?
@DeltaTangoLima@reddrefuge.com avatar

I had a dream about watching my dad die in a factory accident (he worked a lot of factory jobs in the 80s and early 90s).

I could smell the machine oil, hear the thump of the presses (feeling it in my feet, too), and even remember the brief bruised feeling in my shoulder when the paramedic shoved past me to get to him.

It felt so real and vivid, I felt very strongly for the longest time that I’d had a premonition about how my dad would die.

It somehow even sticks with me every now and then, despite him having passed from brain tumours 13 years ago this month.

Weird.

Monster Hunter

kezza596, in Have you ever had a hyper realistic dream that you still remember after years?

Two.

Once I dreamt I was stabbed, and I can still feel the sensation of a blade tearing my flesh, despite having never had more than a nick.

Plus a super real, super long dream that spanned decades. I lived an entire other life. I grew up with a best friend either named Emma, or Emily. I saw her every day. We grew up together, had families alongside each other, lived our entire lives. I still miss her, despite the fact that she never existed.

LemmyRefugee,

Emma or Emily. That’s the most realistic part, as I also struggle to remember the name of my best friends when I was growing up.

feebl, in In which game did you spend the most hours?

CSGO.

Gormadt, (edited ) in Have you ever had a hyper realistic dream that you still remember after years?
@Gormadt@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Quite often in fact.

It’s pretty nice as I do a lot of creative work so if I’m struggling for inspiration I’ll usually take a nap or just go to bed a little early with a notepad nearby.

The crazy part is since I started taking meds for my ADHD it’s basically every night.

Edit: Most of mine are surreal or hyperreal though if that makes sense. By hyperreal I mean that every detail, every sensation, everything is there. Every single tiny sensation, except they are all cranked up to like 11.

For example: There you are standing on the edge of a cliff looking to the vista below. The trees sway with wind and life, flowing like seaweed caught in the current. The winds reach your face as a soft caress, lightly brushing your cheeks and running it’s fingers through your hair. The smells of earth and water fill your lungs with each breath with a slight chill. The sounds of the trees jostling and the wind swishing consume all sound but your breath.

You close your eyes to take it all in.

Your breathing deepening with each breath.

You feel your self slipping backwards away from the cliff but you know the ground will welcome you.

You gently stop on the moss covered ground. It’s like velvet on your skin.

Running your fingers through it you feel every little branch.

You let yourself fall deeper in sleep as the darkness consumes you.

The smells leave your nose, the wind leaves your hair, the velvety moss loses its touch.

You wake in your bed, feeling more rejuvenated then you have in days.

My depression meds give me VIVID dreams, usually nightmares but they don’t scare me anymore? Like they’re clearly nightmares but I don’t wake up with a fast pulse or a sweat just oh hey that happened, anyway! And I definitely remember them much longer than I used to

mister_monster,

I need this in my life real bad.

blackbrook,

I want that! What is the medication?

Gormadt,
@Gormadt@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I take atomoxetine for my ADHD and my doctor told me to take melatonin to help me sleep due it causing insomnia.

So I guess it’s the combination of both that does it for me.

Hell last night’s dream was like watching a movie.

floofloof, in do you guys shop on places like aliexpress/Temu and if you do what items have pleasantly surprised you?

I got a decent little fanless i5-based computer with 6 ethernet ports to use as a router, and it was cheap and works well running OPNsense. That’s about the only thing I’ve bought on AliExpress.

I stole my friend Andy’s plane, flew it and crashed it into the forest. I survived and hiked out, and he was extremely angry.

In real life, Andy doesn’t have a plane, and I don’t know how to pilot one.

kogigt,

You didn’t know how to pilot a plane in your dream, either.
