That's something I want to get into. I want to set up that self hosted software, forget what it's called, but you can integrate with IoT devices just like you can with a mainstream assistant service like Google Home.
What I really want to do is automate my blinds, which are the chain loop type, so I can say "house, open the living room blinds" like they did in Smart House, the Disney channel original movie (or maybe that was Home Alone 4, but we don't talk about that one). I found a little motorized device that integrates with these chain blinds but it was a bit pricey. Of course if I tried to make it with my own Arduino etc it would be an ugly mess.
Mid-30s web designer equally versed in design and frontend development, quiet in conversation but loud in spirit and fashion choices. Hobbies are whatever I need and whatever I can get my hands on - today it’s woodworking and construction due to a burst pipe, last year it was cooking and zero waste living plus grad school, with dashes of IndieWeb, gardening, hydroponics, and plenty of internet in between. I don’t work too many hours in the traditional sense, but I do keep myself constantly busy - full time job, side gig, fixing all the things. I am often asked if I sleep. The answer is yes! I love naps, I usually take at least one a day.
tldr: neon chaotic hobby napper here, nice to meet you.
Rainbow punk is probably the best way I can think of to describe it. If it’s candy colored, glittery, or black (because black helps colors pop) I’m all over it. I recently got a pair of magnetic glasses covers that is printed to look like a slice of watermelon, and it’s my favorite because I have pink hair at the moment and between that and the deep green lipstick I have I can get an awesome watermelon look going. I’m a big fan of mixing patterns and textures as well. I love figuring out how to get a good alt look going that makes people smile. 😁
Oh interesting! I dress mainly in athletic wear, football kits and flannel like a hardcore band so this is an interesting contrast! What did you study in grad school? Are you on a matrix server? Would love to chat more!
Ahhhh I have a flannel I live in when I teach, they’re so comfy and cute! (I teach design/web dev classes at a university in the evening). I’ve never heard of a football kit before but I think I got the idea from a quick search. I’m not on Matrix at the moment, I’m usually more a forum person because of my schedule 😁
You conserve your angular momentum, so if you move at all in latitude the earth we'll be moving at a different speed. It would be like stepping out of a moving vehicle onto the freeway but a whole lot faster.
I have no problem telling people I'm into video games (playstation and nintendo - mostly zelda right now), movies, and reading (lotr, stormlight). For some reason it feels like people shy away from saying they're into those things. Everyone knows you watch TV at night. No need to be coy about it. I'm also into soccer (playing and watching top 5 leagues) and music (playing guitar and piano).
I always love meeting other Sanderson fans. I feel like it's a really tight knit community. I'm looking forward to the discussions that we will be able to have on Lemmy someday when more people join. Journey Before Destination!
Have you played the new Zelda game?
And your a fellow masochist (i.e. Arsenal fan)? How long have you supported them? Who's your favorite player?
These should then all link to the instance you're currently on.
Note: because this is implemented in the frontend and does not change the underlying data, other Fediverse clients will not show these the same unless they also implement this themselves.
I'll be the one to give an honest answer here. Just hit Taco Bell and grab 3 days worth of food, which should run you about $20. Then grab as much coffee as you can carry and just mix it all together in a big tub. Should take care of it for ya.
