To me, if they are contained to communities setup for AI generated images and there is some effort to mark or identify them as AI, I don’t mind them. Its when they get posted outside those spaces, especially posing as something someone made, that it gets very annoying.
I rigged up a simulated sunrise about 20 years back with a regular light, a computer, and an X10 controller back when I slept in a room without windows and wanted a more-gentle way of waking up than an alarm clock. So I totally get wanting to simulate a sunrise.
But why do you want to simulate a sunset?
Also, you might want to ask on !homeautomation, as they specialize in this sort of thing.
Depends on the apocalypse. If it’s sufficient to wipe out global trade and logistics chances are they’ll be rebuilding in the Stone Age, especially if there are no skilled craftsmen like smiths to keep even the most basic tooling working. Modern civilization has huge requirements for a stable supply of power and highly specialized professionals to keep it running. Get a Big apocalypse and you’ll lose enough of those people to make it impossible to re-start civilization.
That's exactly my point, the comment I'm responding to said that all apocalypses were unrecoverable.
We built up our current civilization starting in the stone age, so being knocked back that far isn't inherently unrecoverable. We can do it again. (And no, there isn't an absolute dependency on fossil fuels that are now gone. There are other ways to industrialize than just the exact specific route we took the first time around. Just getting ahead of that since it's a very common counterargument about such things).
Personally a “softer” root beer is generally my go-to.
I used to really like Canadian mountain dew before they were able to sell US mountain dew here and abandoned the Canadian one. It was so much better without caffeine. But that’s their whole gimmick. Except it sold totally fine in Canada without it.
I say the cliche which stocks to invest in. They will know which companies are big at various times. Lotto numbers if they can get that. Blah blah blah.
After that I’m not sure I want to know the other things. It takes the fun out of life.
I mean there are things that you have to worry about like personal safety. I I doubt there will be another World War so I won’t have to worry about the draft or death. Maybe major disasters so I won’t be there. Civil unrest but I’m fortunate enough to live in Canada.
America has vast tracts of arable land with people who have nothing to look at but fields and endless sky, and who get very little contact with other humans.
