Even the 3D was good. I’m still amazed by this:

In the images for the left and right eye, they gave the vampires slightly different pupil colours. That means when you watch it in 3D, the eyes of the vampires kind of shimmer ominously. It works great because it’s only such a small detail. A larger area would be unpleasant to watch.

I’ve never seen another movie doing something innovative like that with 3D.

Edit: Here I found an example that can be viewed via crossy-eye method.

Anyone seen or built an alternative to the M5Stack Atom Echo for HA voice pipeline?

These things aren’t bad, I’ve got a few that I use sort of successfully, but the speaker and mic aren’t very powerful. I was thinking of building one with an ESP32 and i2S (not i2c, that threw me off too) speaker/mic, but I’m wondering if I’d be reinventing the wheel here if there’s a better alternative already out...

I simply use an USB conference speaker/microphone plus the Assist Microphone add-on. (in my case this one from Microsoft, it works great with my RasPi.)

I actually prefer that over the Echo or other embedded devices, as it is able to pick up my voice from further away and the output audio quality is much better. (My use case is something similar to commercial proprietary systems like from Amazon/Google.)

The M5Stack Echo I use on my night stand with push to talk for quick actions, for that it is enough.

Yeah they’re broken, the domain name says removed instead.

I guess there’s a filter that automatically replaces that site with removed…

And while you’re at it, throw an ESC in there at the beginning, will ya?

It seems like most people are even more stressed than usual because they want a perfect Christmas. They have to get presents, they have to prepare the perfect huge meal they have to get this and that done. They’re on the edge and pissy because of that and thus it’s not at all the cozy holiday amongst family and friends that it should be.

I’d say you should be filming for the content.

Someone on a pogo stick in the backyard? Vertically.
Your pet running around in the backyard? Probably horizontally.
Your friend planking in the backyard? Definitely horizontally. Not at all, get new friends.

Me: “haha, yeah sleep is important”

Also me: Not sleeping but consuming memes in the middle of the night about a guy not sleeping because he thinks of a fictional guy not sleeping in order to fight crime.

Is there an app or way to set a start time and end time and totally simulate an automatic sunset with Hue lighting

I want to set a start time and end time and have my Hue lights slowly and very gradually over that timeframe shift from like yellow–> red or even white/blue at the start of the day–> red at end and have it automatically carry that out....

If you’re not afraid of some doing some configurations, then you might want to check out Home Assistant. I got completely rid of my Hue bridge and am using a Raspberry Pi with HA and a ZigBee Dongle instead (there are also other setup options, and you can also still use your Hue bridge instead of a Dongle to control the lights). Wouldn’t go back, it’s so much more versatile and cleaner to use.

Then find a blueprint (e.g. like this one), or create an automation from scratch for your individual needs.

From the first sentence:

[…] uses direct current (DC) for electric power transmission, in contrast with the more common alternating current (AC) transmission systems.

So, actually actually. ;)

Yeah, today when playing my favourite (pirate themed) Christmas album for the first time this year, I noticed that it’s already the 20th…
