WindyRebel, (edited ) in Who doesn't use an adblocker and why?

I don’t because I work in SEO and I need to see how some things just work to troubleshoot or find hidden gems from competitors.

However, on my home computers I absolutely do!

TheFerrango, in What is a nifty little feature modern gadgets have lost?

Existing. I feel every gadget has either become a phone app or an integrated sensor inside the phone (while losing precision because of not being a dedicated device).

My 2001 flip phone could schedule sms messages to be sent and it took smartphones a decade ish to add that feature.

Snake, I spent way too much time on it.

ohlaph, in What word do you always forget?

Funny you should ask. And that’s the thing, I can’t remember.

johannesvanderwhales, in What hobby do you have that no one else in your family shares?

Video games. None of my family gets it at all.

h_ramus, (edited ) in Should I wait for the "Snyder cut" (director's cut) of Rebel Moon?

It had more slow motion scenes than an Indian action movie. Shallow and cliché dialogue ripping off from the star wars universe. Snyder was plastered all over the credits. If this isn’t his cut then take the damn name off the credits. No matter how you cut it it’ll have the same actors, storyline, dialogue depth and in-your-face visuals. Snyder really is a subtle and sophisticated guy.

What modern gadgets? All that’s left are cell phone tracking devices

RBWells, in What is your earliest memory?

I remember my first brother coming home after being born. My mom said I could go in the room and look in the crib but not to say anything, he was sleeping. I leaned down and said his name - I was one and a half years old. I know this is a real memory as nobody was there, nobody told me this happened.

Then nothing I remember until my 3rd birthday, I remember the depressing zoo birthday, and then remember learning to read (sort of- I was 3 and memorized a short book, claimed I could read, but after that just could read, pretty much anything - so I don’t remember the actual learning, however it happened, just that book, pretending to read it and that felt like it magically unlocked all books, it was remarkable and memorable).

That’s about all my memories until 5 years old, but after 5 it’s still just a few memories, even now I’d say just a few memories per year just a whole lot more years.

Dark_Arc, in US residents: What big domestic policy improvements have the american people won from congress in the last 30 years?
@Dark_Arc@social.packetloss.gg avatar

The Infrastructure Bill, the CHIPS Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act are huge examples from the Biden presidency.

From those we’re getting tons of bridges fixed, Internet upgrades, public transit improvements, research funded for climate change (including locally, Akron received finding for researching alternative polymers that don’t rely on oil), domestic security improvements from domestic chip manufacturing, port and airport upgrades, funding to increase the size of EV charging networks, power grid upgrades to help with all of that, labor got a huge boon as all of these bills encourage or require domestic manufacturing, medicare drug negotiation, we’re replacing ALL the lead pipes in public water supply lines, more fixes to tax cheats from corporations and rich people, and funds to cleanup superfund sites.

People really don’t realize how much Biden has gotten done; especially when compared to other recent presidents … like Mr. Build A Wall.

The affordable care act while controversial was also very big as you said.

garbagebagel, in What is the goofiest Christmas present you received this year?

My sister got me these Tiny hands.

Turns out my mom is very very freaked out by them so I had a great time.

EvokerKing, in Will ublock Origin be blocked on chrome soon?💀💀💀

Manifest v3 has been out for a while now, they are just blocking manifest v2. There will probably be a way to fix it, but there is always other browsers like brave that have built in adblockers that block basically anything. While people were worrying about whether they will be blocked from YouTube and ublock was having issues that were soon fixed, brave never got a single pop-up asking to disable your adblocker once. Also you can use some VPN adblockers that work through blocking it from your network like AdAway.

S_204, in What is your earliest memory?

I was like 3. We were moving into a new home, my brother and I are sitting on the front steps and the driveway is just gravel and rebar, no concrete yet.

Nothing special about it, just a memory of sitting there with my older brother on a warm day. I’d bet we went to the park afterwards but can’t recall.

I have vague memory of the house before that. The curtains in my room for some reason. Nothing particular, just them moving in the wind. .

The brain is weird.
