Kolanaki, (edited ) in How many tabs do you have open?
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

I’m annoyed if I have more than 1 or 2 open.

Only time I open more is when I am downloading a big thing split into multiple files and I can only download a couple at a time due to the file host’s BS.

pinkdrunkenelephants, in What companies have made your blacklist?

Most.

For being shitty.

Newtra, in How many tabs do you have open?

I just did a big cleanup! I think it’s down to about 40 on my work computer and 70ish on my computer.

Don’t ask about the phone I’m typing this on… It’s a lost cause.

Firefox on android keeps garbage collecting tabs too aggressively for me to do my thing.

kablammy, (edited ) in What companies have made your blacklist?

Easyjet. They sent us an update in their app saying they delayed our flight a few hours due to ill pilot. We were waiting near the gate (nearest cafe) but not quite within view, and no flight boards nearby. They decided not to delay after all but did not send an update to the app, and nothing over loudspeakers. My paranoia got the better of me so i wandered down to the gate around the original time of flight to take a look. When I saw they were boarding after all i called the family down, but we had missed it by a minute or so. They would not let us board. They preferred to delay the flight while they unloaded our baggage. We had to pay for and book with another airline to arrive at our hotel at midnight losing a day of our Greek Island holiday. When we complained to their service desk, they refused to refund us, and said “we DO suggest you always keep up to date by watching the flight boards”. There was a giant sign by their desk that literally said “download our app to keep up to date on your flights”. I will never give those fucks another dollar, and I tell this story to anyone who will listen.

They preferred to delay the flight while they unloaded our baggage

Thats the part that would have me launched to the moon on a red hot rage rocket.

Cant take 30 seconds to let me board because your shitty fucking service told me it was delayed? But you’ll delay the plane 20 minutes to dig my baggage out of the hold and make everyone elses day on board miserable?

What kind of United Airlines level of pure customer hatred is that?!

DLSantini, in What companies have made your blacklist?

None. I’m not rich, I don’t have the luxury of straight-out boycotting any particular company. If I could, both Amazon and Walmart would be top of the list. And I’m sure many others.

Hell, I’ve been wanting to finally delete my Facebook account for years now, but Facebook marketplace is apparently the ONLY place I’m ever going to be able to sell anything. It’s the only reason I still have the account. I have long since delete all posts, photos, and literally any other data that they would let me delete, aside from marketplace posts and associated messenger conversations. Used to buy and sell constantly on Craigslist for many years, now I haven’t been able to successfully sell a single item in at least the last 2-3 years. Letgo was a decent one for a while, until the app got bought by, and then shut down by, OfferUp. And the OfferUp people are basically con artists (use shady methods of boosting the number of “active” listings, in order to artificially inflate the value of their company). It has been nearly impossible to sell, or even BUY anything on OfferUp, after several years of trying to make user of the app.

AceFuzzLord, (edited ) in How many tabs do you have open?

Zero across my phone and desktop at the moment. Having more than around 5 tabs open at once does not sit well with me.

Prandom_returns, in How many tabs do you have open?

I’ve set the browser to close all tabs when I close the broswer. So whenever I start, I start fresh. Doesn’t seem to result in a mess.

Personal: right now I have 6 open. I might get up to 15-20 if I’m going down a rabbithole of some sort.

On a side note, Windows 11 finally put in an option to go back to normal Windows taskbar buttons so I can actually read tab titles from the taskbar:

Work (software engineer): sometimes dozens if I’m deep in the weeds with loads of reference pages open/etc.

Sorry, I bet this post doesn’t really belong here. Please help me find the right community. I am looking to discuss the bat-shitery of this scumbag / nut.

Thx

Just searching Documentaries pulls up multiple communities where you can post this.

queermunist, in Can anyone else feel sensations in their brain?

Anyone who has had discontinuation syndrome knows the experience of “brain zaps” - basically feels like an electric shock toy going off inside your head somewhere behind your eyes/sinuses. Is it anything like that?

GnomeKat,
@GnomeKat@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

WTF I had those brain zaps a lot as a kid, I have described this to many doctors before and no one has ever given me any sort of explanation. And now I just see some random lemmy comment precisely describe them. I didn’t have them in association with discontinuing antidepressants just randomly got them as a kid.

FollyDolly,
@FollyDolly@lemmy.world avatar

Came here to say this. Like someone taking a tens unit to my gray matter.

ShunkW,

Brain zaps are the worst thing ever. I had to go off of effexor because I’m bipolar and had my first manic episode while on it. I looked like a crazy person for a while. I mean, I am a crazy person, but you can’t tell that up front lol.

iHUNTcriminals, (edited )

Me too 😟

It’s been great getting off it.

(Different drug but still SSRI)

I still get the zaps when I’m tired.

Took about a month for them to be less noticable.

agent_flounder,
@agent_flounder@lemmy.world avatar

For real. I’m on that stuff and if I am just a few hours late taking it I get the zaps. Slightest head movement and ⚡ zzzZZAP ⚡. Missing a day and I’m unable or unwilling to move.

b3an,
@b3an@lemmy.world avatar

It’s not head movement I think. I believe it’s eye movement triggered.

noobdoomguy8658,

Given the predatory nature of our species, it’s gonna be a tough call moving your head without having your eyes snap to various objects around.

Can’t even begin to imagine.

TheDoctorDonna,

It was Effexor for me too, I was forced off it cold turkey and had been exhibiting signs of serotonin syndrome. 10 years later I still haven’t found anything that works long term to help keep the zaps away and they get debilitating sometimes.

GnomeKat,
@GnomeKat@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Strange I also took effexor for a while, it was the worst drug I ever taken. I got brain zaps as a kid long before I ever took any antidepressants but eventually they stopped. I never knew they were associated with stopping antidepressants, I have never seen anyone describe them before other than this thread.

When I was taking effexor I would forget to take them and also eventually I just built up a tolerance to them, and when I didn’t have the drug in my system I got this sort of lagging feeling. Like my whole body would feel like it was lagging behind me, moving my hands or head or whatever felt weird. I kept getting those symptoms even when taking effexor and I also developed worse symptoms like psychosis and an inability to sleep(like didn’t sleep for over a week) so I eventually just stopped taking effexor cold turkey. I felt that lagging feeling for months after but it eventually went away. I refuse any psych meds now because of my experiences with effexor.

farcaster,

I went on a pretty hardcore low-carb diet once to combat some digestive issues, and it triggered brain fog and brain zaps in the first couple of weeks. Our body treats sugar like a drug, unsurprisingly.

TheDoctorDonna,

I went off Effexor cold turkey (not by choice) in 2013 and this has been my life ever since. Sometimes it’s so bad it makes my limbs tingle.

raynethackery,

Same, but mine did eventually go away. I hope you find some relief.

tal, in If many extraterrestrial civilizations were nearby but trying to keep quiet, how would you suggest drawing them out?
@tal@lemmy.today avatar

I don’t think that there is likely such a thing that would produce a direct response. If you wanted to not be noticed, why would you change your behavior based on what something else transmits?
