Though it usually works out well. I have a bottle of premium Costco vodka with two anise stars and some simple syrup added. It’s like a homemade ouzo and delightfully sippable for $18 a handle. I also have slices of pear in another bottle, and it’s yummy. And a mason jar of bourbon with black peppercorns, which I like to splash into an Old Fashioned.
Hot tip: Buying flavored liquor is expensive and never as good as infusing it yourself.
Centerba. It means hundred grasses in Italian. It tastes like grain alcohol infused with whatever they cut down in a field. Maybe a hint of mint too? It’s fluorescent green now because food coloring is cheaper than bright green glass apparently.
Economics is purely based on assumption, at it’s core. There’s no proof the assumption is true, and recent trends seem to point towards it being false.
Economics assumes people are rational spenders.
But the “economy” is often just represented by the stock market, which is both not rational, and not a good measure of the economy. It’s a great indicator of how much wealth is being extracted from the working class, but it’s shit at representing how most of the money is being spent.
Social “sciences” are the epitome of opinions being pushed as fact via the appeal to authority fallacy. Much of what falls under that label are baseless belief systems built upon towers of lies
The moon not being made of cheese. The moon is in fact made of cheese. I do not care how much a bunch of nerds insist that it is not made of cheese. I am objectively correct about this and anyone who disagrees is wrong.
I’m just continuing the bit (badly, admittedly, since I didn’t get the exact quote right). That’s the next thing the character says, more or less, though. In case you don’t realize, all this stuff about the moon being made of spare ribs is a bit from Saturday Night Live.
I call on the FDA, USDA, or whatever agency to use their power to add lunar regolith and all otger moon constituents to the accepted definition of cheese. I also suggest all other countries to just take our word for it since only us and the nazis have set foot on the moon and who are you going to trust? Us or the nazis?
It’s got to be Dark Matter. So many astrophysicists have spent so much time thinking about this stuff and all they’re really sure about is that there must be much more matter in the Universe than we can see, and yet we never actually seem any closer to knowing what it is. In conjunction with Dark Energy it just leaves the layman with the awkward possibility that maybe our model of The Universe is just fundamentally flawed somehow.
I think that eiher, we fundamentally misunderstand gravity at a quantum level, and we are seeing all of the matter there is, but can’t anyway calculate gravity with our current understanding of it, or, we fundamentally misunderstand how time, gravity, and space interact.
Like many mentioned, lots of examples. First one to come to mind for me was Exurb1a. Sarcastic and witty videos about science, philosophy, futurism, etc. I remember one video had a joke about tossing an ex out a window I found uncomfortable, but he also used a bunch of self derogatory humor etc, and his style did include exaggerated characters etc.
Then some convincing evidence came out that he was an abuser and iirc also raped someone. I don’t have the link now and as usual don’t believe stuff a random anonymous person says on the internet, but it was disappointing to say the least.
Pisang Ambon, banana liqueur, I tried it in a bar in Spain, really liked it, and bought it. But what do you do with Banana Liqueur in your house? Nothing mixes well with that. Occasionally I sip it, but I've had it a decade and drunk maybe a third.
Cacique, which is Costa Rica’s national liquor (only rare because it’s hard to import).
It’s essentially sugar cane hooch that the government decided to nationalize in an attempt to end secret production, back around the mid 1800s. Their plan worked and it became a sort of national identity. The whole history of it is pretty neat.
It doesn’t taste like anything on its own, so it’s mixed with everything and the kitchen sink.
I’d almost say it’s the opposite… U2 is a decent band, but nothing too special. Bono has a strong reputation as a philanthropist doing good for the worlds charities.
U2 sucks. I said it. Singer of my band in HS tried so hard to turn me… at least 3 mix tapes and I def found some less popular songs I liked. But I’m just not a fan. I change the station after a dramatic sigh when they come on. They don’t rock. I like that Batman twist me bang me something me song. Desire is fun. Sunday Bloody Sunday is emotionally tied to historical events, can’t sleep on it. Mysterious Ways is amazing and brings back positive feelings from those days (was it in a mixtape infomercial?). But besides the several songs I like, they suck… Shit… did I just talk myself out of hating them? Was I just an angsty little shit and South Park nailed the coffin?
I like both Bono and Miley. I actually like both music and their personalities at least the projected personalities. I don’t feel like they are trying to hide anything and they seem to want the world good
Eh, I used to think like that, there was a time when it was popular to hate on U2. But really there are a lot of legitimate assholes out there who are actively making the world a worse place. His philanthropy is aggressive and attention seeking but the receipts are there and I’d much rather have someone channel all this energy and platform into pro-human rights than anti which is becoming increasingly popular these days.
I like U2, but obviously people have different opinions. However, when some dude worth 3/4 billion (no idea what the rest of the members are worth) asks an audience full of people who just paid an absurd ticket price propping up his hundreds of millions to wave their cellphone lights in the air and tells them how rich they are and how they give more money to whatever causes it really is tone deaf. I’m all for supporting a good cause, but that’s just stupid.
