Ghostie21, in Physicists of Lemmy, what is up?

Up is what you define as up in your coordinates.

Mango,

So up is pretend?

Ghostie21,

No, up is what you define as up.

Mango,

I define up as yo momma.

You need more context/specificity around your question. Right now, the question is like saying, “What is that thing…?”

Mango,

But what is it?

guacupado, in How Many Streaming Services Do You Have?

I occasionally hop on someone else’s Netflix in my room. She said it was fine. But I only went to watch Leave the World Behind and Rebel Moon because both of those had a lot of praise. After that there’s nothing on Netflix I’m interested in.

I have Prime, but I bought years ago without even considering video content as part of it. Plus now it gives me perks for games I play where I otherwise wouldn’t spend any money. Honestly I’ll probably be keeping prime just for the website and game side alone. The video service was just a bonus.

I had Apple TV after doing a one month trial but other than Invasion and Foundation there’s nothing else interested on there. I finished both of those within the month and let it expire.

I only still have HBO because my daughter likes watching South Park.

Not interested at all in Disney/Hulu.

I cancelled Paramount.

So right now I have HBO and Prime. One for my kids and the other for non-streaming reasons.

RBWells, in What's the funniest mishearing of song lyrics you've had?

I was driving one day, in the early 1990s, singing along with Elton John, “love I feel it in my hands, I can tell by the things I could do with another man…” as I had since I was a little kid, when I suddenly realized that probably wasn’t what he was saying. It still sounds like that is what he is saying.

I see quite a lot of Elton John in these answers, maybe he just didn’t enunciate.

Down = where gravity is coming from, the most mass

Up = the opposite direction

What if I’m in a Lagrange point?

JadenSmith, in Can't we just start calling it "Formerly Twitter" instead?

I still call it Twitter.

Thorny_Insight,

And Meta will always be Facebook

Chakravanti, (edited )

I always call it FaceBook Inc. It’s absurd that that shit has always gone right past everyones observation. Prolly still clicking because upon seeing it you’re ass will do the denial your damn self instead of reading it upside down: zero responsibility for maintenance of spying products handle when a corporation is doing the gig and not the gorramn government.

derpgon,

But Facebook hasn’t renamed. It’s still Facebook, but under company called Meta.

Chakravanti, (edited )

Call it whatever you like under whatever, IDC. It’s the FBI.

General_Shenanigans,

I never liked Twitter that much to begin with, but it’s definitely not the same thing as it used to be. I’m fine with calling it X instead of Twitter because of that. X is a stupid name for a stupid social media platform. It’s fitting. It’s definitely not Twitter anymore, which ever way you want to look at it.

RBWells, in How Many Streaming Services Do You Have?

Netflix because my husband likes a lot of stuff on there. He’s watching star trek prodigy now.

YouTube for music streaming, and the kids & husband watch videos on there.

Disney/Hulu I like the Star Wars and Marvel spinoffs, Clone Wars and Andor were so, so good.

Amazon, if I didn’t have family I’d keep this only and I guess use it for music too, I don’t actually watch much TV at all but music I want every day, we do have a good community radio station here but if course nobody can enjoy everything they play. Amazon seems to have the most content, not all of it included in the annual cost but huge library.

So most of them are because we can justify with more people using the services, all are family plans with whatever the max number of accounts are allowed.

We do use HBO Max but one of the kids pays for that one.

I need a schedule - one of my coworkers does 2 months Netflix then 2 months Disney then 2 months Max, just loops through them, only paying for one at a time.

DON’T USE AMAZON MUSIC DON’T FALL FOR IT THE APP IS THE ANTICHRIST

RBWells,

Ah ok. I really loved the Google Play Music app, it was the best. Google could tell me who was playing nearby - and unlike Spotify, Google (because Google is creepy) knows what I actually consider nearby, and did not just show bands I listened to, but those I might also like, and was right about that way more often than not. It had better recommendations, YouTube music is still not as good as all, but everyone else on the plan does look at YouTube videos too, so we are getting plenty of utility out of it.

MrRazamataz,
@MrRazamataz@lemmy.razbot.xyz avatar

Yeah I’ve heard it was a very good app whilst it was around.

The up quark or u quark (symbol: u) is the lightest of all quarks, a type of elementary particle, and a significant constituent of matter. It, along with the down quark, forms the neutrons (one up quark, two down quarks) and protons …

Nice! I didn’t expect an answer I haven’t even come close to pondering yet!

Mango,
Trollception, in How do I avoid Amazon when orders from other sites get fulfilled by Amazon?

eBay is just as filthy of a corp as Amazon. Who are you fooling?

Waluigis_Talking_Buttplug, in How Many Streaming Services Do You Have?

Prime because I work in a remote area and buy a lot of Amazon, and HBO Max because one day my cell phone carrier decided to give it to me for no extra charge on my plan.

I use Jellyfin and torrents for the rest.

mvirts, in What do normal people look at on their phones?

I’m not qualified to answer that

Trainguyrom, in How Many Streaming Services Do You Have?

I presently have 4ish:

  • Netflix because there’s always something we want to watch
  • Disney+ (in the Disney+Hulu bundle with no ads in either. I’ll be dropping hulu soon for lack of content) for the kids to get their Disney movie fix, plus it also has quite a few movies/shows we generally want to watch
  • Nebula because it costs very little and directly supports creators I already watch
  • Amazon Prime because I order just enough on Amazon to be worth keeping Prime around for plus the video service.
  • SiriusXM because I live in a rural area with crap cell service and I don’t like country music so AM/FM radio isn’t a option
